Tales of Xillia Out Today, Exclusive to PS3

Hello PlayStation.Blog readers! I have great news to tell you all: Tales of Xillia is now available exclusively for PS3 in North America, both at retail and digitally on PlayStation Store.

Do you like adventure, over-worlds, mana, warring nations, great spirits, lesser spirits, upgradable shops, real-time battles, lovable characters, and huge bosses? Tales of Xillia has all those things, and more! Do you start to involuntarily shake with giddiness at the mere mention of a wyvern? Buddy, you better sit down, because we’ve got MULTIPLE WYVERNS!

Not only that, but Tales of Xillia also has two main protagonists. On one side we have Jude Mathis, a bright medical student attending the university in the capital city of Fennmont. On the other side you have Milla Maxwell, a mysterious woman who travels with four spirits and will stop at nothing to accomplish her mission. You get to choose whose side of the story you want to see, complete with unique cutscenes and events complementing each campaign.

Fortunately, both heroes give you access to the thrilling new battle system powering combat in Tales of Xillia. As with past Tales of games, enemy encounters in Tales of Xillia happen in real time. You have direct control over your character and their attacks, along with swapping out party members mid-battle and switching between fighters on the fly.

New to the series is the linking aspect of the battle system. You can link together with another party member who can provide support actions and special linked artes attacks. Knowing which party member will provide a specific support action or linked arte is a crucial tactic to take advantage of in desperate situations.

And that’s just scratching the surface of what Tales of Xillia has to offer! It’s a massive adventure with a diverse cast of characters, beautiful locations bursting with color, and an incredible battle system that goes well beyond traditional JRPGs. And if you enjoy Tales of Xillia, be sure to keep an eye out for its sequel, Tales of Xillia 2, as well as Tales of Symphonia Chronicles — both scheduled to arrive on PS3 next year.

And one more thing: be sure to check out PlayStation’s Twitter account. The fine folks there will be giving away a bunch of downloadable game codes for Tales of Xillia this week to lucky fans!

  • It’s a good day to be a playstation gamer and all, some fantastic releases and ps+ perks, but why is Sony the only company that can’t manage any digital update schedule? Most other digital game distributors have a certain time where you know the content will be available, but for many gamers not at -8GMT the store doesn’t even update on Tuesdays! This really needs to be worked on!

  • Spanish language?

  • Picked up my Collector’s Edition today.

Come on, Namco, if a company like Rising Star Games, found it beneficial to re-release a “Director’s Cut” of Deadly Premonition, just tack on “Director’s Cut” or something of the like to Vesperia and re-release it here. I know we have a bigger fanbase than that cult following.

You’re doing great with the RPGs, especially with the announcement of Xillia 2 and an HD Symphonia. Keep it up! Give us more! My Vita is dying for more JRPGs!!!

  • The digital version will have DLC bonus?

  • Picked this up at GameStop first thing in the morning. The DLC code provided for the costumes doesn’t work, though. It may not be active yet, I’m assuming.

  • get it up on the store already..

  • @54 sadly probably not. :(

  • @54 and 58

i just bought and downloaded the digital version and i can sadly confirm that there is no bonus added. Its just the game itself (6.6 GB). The only upside is that it was only $54.99.

Theres alot of costume dlc for sale as well.

  • Just picked up my limited edition preorder this morning. Sad that I didn’t have the cash for the collectors edition with that amazing looking figure, but I’m sure I can find some nendos or other merchandise online somewhere later on to ease the pain.

So….any chance you guys can look into releasing Tales of Destiny as a PS1 classic? I would love to get SOME Tales action going on my vita, considering you guys aren’t bringing Tales of Innocence R or Tales of Hearts R over to the west.

  • Tales of Innocence R and Tales of Hearts R… at retail.

    Please and thank you.

  • I’m having fun with it so far.

  • How do i find my DLC. I download and install. I’m 2 hrs into the game and I don’t have any of my DLC in game? Any help would be useful. Thanks

  • @65 WoundedUnderwear, Did you figure it out yet? Go into the menu and go all the way to the last ‘tab’, you have to install the DLC in-game.

  • Hey Nick O’Leary, what are the chances of releasing on the US PSN store some of the Tales Avatars and Wallpapers that are already on the JP store? They have sets of avatars and wallpapers for each character for just about every game in the series! Thanks so much for your consideration!

  • I’d really like to see an HD remaster of Xenogears. :D

  • Thanks for bringing over Tales of Xillia, I’ got my Collectors Edition today at 5pm and first thing was pop in the game and set my Milla Maxwell Figure right next to my computer screen!
