Grand Theft Auto Online is a dynamic and persistent online world for 16 players that begins by sharing gameplay features, geography and mechanics with Grand Theft Auto V, but will continue to expand and evolve after its launch with new content created by Rockstar Games and the Grand Theft Auto community. Grand Theft Auto Online takes the fundamental Grand Theft Auto concepts of freedom, ambient activity and mission-based gameplay and makes them available to multiple players in an incredibly detailed and responsive online world.
In Grand Theft Auto Online, players have the freedom to explore alone or with friends, work cooperatively to complete missions, band together to participate in activities and ambient events, or compete in traditional game modes with the entire community, all with the personality and refined mechanics of Grand Theft Auto V.
Players can invest in their character through customizing their appearance, improving their stats, owning customized vehicles, purchasing personal property, and taking part in missions, jobs and activities to earn reputation and cash to open up new opportunities to rise through the criminal ranks. The world of Grand Theft Auto Online will constantly grow and change as new content is added, creating the first ever persistent and dynamic Grand Theft Auto game world.
Access to Grand Theft Auto Online is free with every retail copy of Grand Theft Auto V and launches on October 1st.
This game looks amazing and I can’t wait to play it, but I’m really hoping to see GTA Online make the jump to next gen. GTAV itself can stay current gen for all I care, but it seems to me that GTA Online would be perfect for something like the PlayStation 4 given all of the social aspects that are built into the system itself. This is the first game I’ve seen where I’d very likely be using the game DVR feature, and I could see loads of people doing the same.
Don’t get me wrong – I’ll be playing the hell out of this on my PS3 for a long time to come, but I really hope that Rockstar sees the potential of making this apart of the eighth generation line-up as well.
Only one month left I cant wait. This looks to be the best GTA yet.
I Really really hope they expand that player cap. 30 people running around on a giant level sounds like more fun.

I really wish i could get the collectors edition with my pre order on amazon, because im getting the GTA V bundled with a 500gb ps3, but there is no option to pay 20 bucks more for the collectors edition
Is there gonna be any probems this time with NAT3 internet being able to play multiplayer. I haven’t been able to play very many rockstar titles online because of this. I can’t access muliplayer on red dead, max payne 3 and at times GTA IV would boot me because it says I have a NAT 3 connection or my modem is too strict, which makes no sense. Hopefully the problem gets fixed this time around.
I’m very excited I love GTA games, and there was only few things I would change. Thanks to the new gta online play I gave GTA5 a 10 all the way and I can;t wait to play it.

So essentially it is Grand Theft Auto San Andreas realized in the next generation of gaming? Adding a successful story focused gameplay (GTA IV) and the sandbox fun we all know an love into an officialized online multiplayer experience?

Rockstar, is GTA:V going to be a Day 1 Digital release? If not, can you PLEASE clarify when the full game will be available for purchase on the store? Some of us actually have 1TB HDDs & would prefer to have a Digital version that can never be misplaced, stolen or broken. BTW, everything I have seen so far makes this REALLY look like game of the year, hands-down!

An October 1st release doesn’t really bother me. The Single Player should keep me occupied for years as is (and yes, I’ll keep a PS3 for that much longer despite a PS4 release).

Niiiiiiiice! Will there be out-of -gameplay areas for players to interact/chat with each other online? Kind of like a lounge or public space works on Playstation Home? Having settings like a bar, dance club, or street corner setup where players could meet, interact, and then go on cooperative play jaunts would be EPIC. It’s a social feature more online games should consider incorporating.

GTA 4 has the worst online I’ve ever seen….I really dont care about this one since I’ll be lost in the SP and offline experience which is way better….but hope its good or at least playable because GTA 4 online isn’t playable.Good I’ll be picking up GTA 5 for sure but sweet Jesus this game is so overrated….nothing new here though…just as overrated as any GTA game was,is and will be.
@ 88 hawjboi2009 – Yeah I agree Saints 4 sure looks weird with those super-powers thing but in the other hand looks to be as good as GTA V..or better…anyway Saints Row 3 is better than any GTA game ever released and I seriously doubt GTA V can be better than that.
