Gamescom 2013 Live: Watch the PlayStation Conference Today

Guten tag! Gamescom, the world’s largest gaming event, officially opens its doors tomorrow. But the action begins today with PlayStation’s Gamescom press conference. And lucky you — you can watch live starting at 10:00am Pacific Time (1:00pm Eastern) today with our dedicated livestream!

A quick note: much like E3 is targeted to the US audience and Tokyo Game Show is targeted at Japan, the gamescom press conference is primarily aimed at European gamers, so please keep that in mind as you watch. Not everything mentioned or shown today will necessarily apply to those of us in North America. We’ll post on all appropriate things for the North American market, however, just as we always do.

If you don’t see the video above this sentence, please refresh your page. It should then appear.

At the conclusion of the livestream, refresh PlayStation.Blog to see game trailers and in-depth details from many of the titles revealed on stage. There will be a lot of content to take in, so consider checking out our dedicated gamescom13 Blog tag so you don’t miss a thing! And we’ll keep the Gamescom train rolling all week long with hands-on previews, announcements, and interviews straight from the show floor. It should be a good (and busy!) week — please let us know your favorite picks in the comments! If you happen to miss the live show, no worries: the entire conference will play on a loop for the next 24 hours or so.

After the conference, stick around to see a live panel discussion featuring Worldwide Studios president (and Treasure Park master) Shuhei Yoshida, Beyond: Two Souls director David Cage and Assassin’s Creed writer Darby McDevitt for a lively discussion around storytelling and narrative development in game design. Should be a good one — don’t miss it!

And keep an eye on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram all week long for an inside look at gamescom’s finest. We’ve got some great stuff planned — auf wiedersehen!

  • Will there be ways to watch live on Vita?

    PS3?

  • Hey Sid can you please confirm how long the press conference will be? as i understand it will be from 60-90 minutes but people on the playstation official forums are saying 3 hours because gametrailers is having a 3 hours coverage.

  • Sweetness! Is there going to be coverage of the show like E3 livestream or just the conference?

  • So, can we stream on vita. AND when will L.A. Noire DLC be on sale? I know, I know (wrong place for dlc) but I thought Id give it a shot!

  • Wish this and all future events would also be streamed via the PS3 Live Events app….

  • I hope you are able to change your PSN ID on PS4

  • i wonder if they will be doing any gamescom related stuff for playstation home?

  • I’m excited to see what future support for the vita looks like! It’s my favorite console ever! Of all time! I bet you guys are making ALL KINDS OF GAMES!

  • My Gamescon wish list.
    – All Playstation 2 games playable on Vita.
-All PSN titles playable on Vita.
    – PS4 Release date.
    – Vita memory card price drop.
    – Sony 1st party Vita line up “inFamous Vita/ Jak 4 Vita/ Ratchet & Clank Vita/ Warhawk Vita”
    – PS4 Launch line-up.
Looking forward to the press conference. As always, Keep on Gaming.

  • Great! I can’t wait to see what else does the PS4 have in store for us.

  • @10 onslaughtree you’re going to be seriously dissapointed with that list.

  • If we aren’t getting dedicated servers for all multiplayer games like Xbox One, than tell me why we are paying to pay online with Playstation Plus. You need to fix this and get dedicated servers or you will lose my PS4 pre-order.

  • @10 We know the vita is getting some love but man that list… wow i would love to see all those games on the vita but i dont think is happening man maybe inFAMOUS oh and im expecting Insomniac to announce that Into the Nexus is coming to psvita as well. Warhawk? man that would be beyond awesome!!!!!!!

  • Woo! Hope its over before I have to go to work though!

  • Looking forward to the conference! Hoping to see some Vita love

  • a que hora es eso en mexico?

  • Yay!

  • @10: “All Playstation 2 games playable on Vita.”

That would be pretty amazing if they ever did that. I know I would buy a bunch of digital PS2 games if that came to fruition.

  • Here it comes! 4 hours!

  • Yeah if Sony does make PS2 Classics playable on Vita, we are definitely gonna need bigger memory cards at least in my opinion.

  • I’ll be using this USTREAM conference to judge how well this service/provider will work on PS4.

I’m not familiar with USTREAM, so I hope it doesn’t disappoint from a technical standpoint…

  • I’m also hoping for a Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Vita bundle. I would love to surprise my brother with a Vita for Xmas.

  • Thanks for streaming here on the US blog, can’t wait to see what you anounce!

I’m hoping for PS4 release date and a lot of love for the Vita to help it rebound.

  • yungshep is checkin in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ill be able to stream from work!! sooooo excited!!!!

  • Sony needs to step up there game, Launch lineup for PS4 is thin, way too much focus on PS3. Sony needs more exclusive games for PS4 and also elaborate on backwards compatibility using gaikai. Vita also needs more third party support, great device being let down by sparse software support.

Will sony ever make an RPG? Big void in Sony’s library.

  • Also, Vita needs a price cut IN NA and a major reduction in memory card prices.

  • Im Kinda Tierd of Waiting For These Game Systems To Come Out So Please Release The PS4 Next Month

  • @26: Oh how I wish Sony would dip into RPGs again. Even Ubisoft is working on an RPG ffs. MS has Fable, Nintendo has Monilith Soft, Pokemon, various Mario RPGs, Sony has IPs that are rotting away with no support.

Look at Dark Souls to see how stupid Sony is about RPGs.That could have been Demon’s Souls.

  • Really hoping some AAA games are announced for Vita. The Indie stuff is great but those aren’t the games I buy consoles for. Also, really hoping that Sony and Sega are working together to bring PSO 2 for Vita to US. Ridiculous that it hasn’t happened yet. Sony, you have a “Monster Hunter” sized hole in your Vita offerings that you really need to fill.

  • @17

    Mexico city=its 12pm

  • Really excited to see what they have for the PS Vita!

  • I’ll be here! It’ll be over my lunch break! :)

    – Can we get the entire released PS3 retail library in digital form on the PSN?

    – Also, a search function or sorting of some kind in the Download List, takes forever to find things so I can redownload them.

    Thanks!!

  • I NEED PS4! Oh and Sony ThankYou For Doing a Great Job With Your NEW PS4 I LOVE SONY AND THERE PS CONSOLES! :)

  • Just double checking–it’s currently playing the E3 presser in the vid, is that just place holder until the stream begins for today?

  • Still waiting for the gamescom stream…

  • Great!
