The Drop: Week of August 26th 2013 New Releases

On PS3 Blu-ray and a full digital download on PSN, Killer Is Dead is the latest title from the demented mind of celebrated game creator, SUDA51, serving as a spiritual successor to his previous cult favorites, No More Heroes and Killer 7.

Stylish cell-shaded visuals set the mood in this gritty, bloody, ultra-violent world where biomechanical augmentations increase the power of criminals and “executioners” alike. Mondo Zappa, a newly recruited executioner, hunts criminals wielding a Japanese sword in his right hand, and the crushing power of biomechanical engineering in his left.

Enjoy this week’s The Drop!

killerisdeadKiller is Dead

(Also on PSN) — A reputable execution agency’s newest recruit, Mondo Zappa, takes center stage as he stalks and beheads a wide variety of heinous criminals all across the world (and even, perhaps, outside of it). As he settles into his new job, he also comes to terms with his own inner demons, balancing his talent for dispensing swift and brutal justice with his fleeting memories of a traumatic past, and peppering it all with his many sensual conquests.

Be he a killer, a lover or a gigolo, his many tales of passion and brutality begin with his appointment at Bryan´s Executioner Office. A whole world of pain and pleasure awaits, and there’s no telling where it might take him next…

  • Not bad update, I suppose.

  • CRASH BANDICOOT AND SPYRO FOR PS VITA! ITS BEEN A YEAR OF PS1 COMPABILITY UPDATE AND STILL NO CRASH BANDICOOT OR SPYRO !

  • Crimson Sea 2, I always wanted to try that one but didn’t have the cash then, I couldn’t find the game later. Very nice.

  • Hatsune miku Project diva F? digital and retail right?

  • What happened to “Real Boxing” for Vita?

  • Haven’t heard anything on these games. Hope some of them are good to buy. But this week, I don’t think I’m buying anything unless they have some themes or avatar for my profile

  • Some nice stuff here, but you really need to work on labelling in this post, Rey. Isn’t Floating Cloud God HD a Vita-only game? And Project Diva F is only the PS3 version, rather than also including the Vita version?

As another poster keeps saying, “PSN” isn’t a release platform. It’s a store. You need to list what platform these games are actually on, PS3, PSVita or PSP (soon, PS4 as well). Just saying PSN doesn’t cut it, and it hasn’t for a long time now.

  • Isn’t Atelier Meruru Plus this week?

  • What preorder bonuses will I receive, IF ANY for preordering Diablo 3 from the playstation store???

  • I’ll definitely try the Spelunky demo.

But what I’d REALLY love is if Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops could be added to the Vita store.

  • And Crash and Spyro for Vita are still M.I.A

  • oooh, spelunky !

  • Does anyone know the price Floating Cloud God Saves the Pilgrims?

  • @2 and 11
    Its up to Activision…

  • can we get an answer about when GT1 and GT2 are coming for PSone classic. its been long overdue. we need answers now please. please come forward. its needs to happen. even if charge 19.99 per game i’d buy them both. for me and my son. thats 80 dollars total just from me. c’mon sony. its a win win.

  • I was in on the beta testing for FF XIV, and I didn’t care for it at all. However, I may check out Spelunky if the price is right. If it is anything like Spelunker HD, then it should be pretty good.

  • Really excited for FFXIV, let’s hope it’s actually good.

  • I forgot something, where is Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f? It should be coming out this week. Since we’re in the US, we should get both physical and digital.

@BahamuttZero Yes, we’re getting both. Unless you live in Europe, you can only get it digitally.

@DigiOps Agreed, they just won’t shut up about Crash or Spyro. I can’t wait until Sony decides to remove them off PSN permanently. If they want Crash on Vita, they just should buy Crash Tag Team Racing already.

@KoldStrejke It’s up to Polyphony Digital. If it does come to PSN, that would be nice so we can play it on our Vitas. But I think they’re too busy with Gran Turismo 6, so they probably won’t. Personally, I would rather get these two games over Crash and Spyro.

  • @3 Crimson Sea 2 is great, its actually a feat that it plays so smooth on ps2 and maintained good graphics and rock solid framerate. its better than the xbox one and that says something

  • When will we get the Ecolibrium update here in the US that Europe has had for months now?

  • SPELUNKY… soon you will be mine.

Just a couple of days and my Vita will be played non-stop.

  • @Gamerzlimited True Dat.

  • SPELUNKY for Vita with PS+ Discount! WOOHOO!

  • So many games, so little time!!!

  • Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..

how can you forget Hatsune Miku; Project Diva F?????

this game is awesome!!! show some love for the game!! :)

  • @jimmyfoxhound

It’s on there but not in bold letters.

  • Whats the going price on PSN Sweet Fuse: At Your Side?

  • Please convince Capcom to release EX Troopers in English.

  • Spelunky, yeahh!

  • @ klassymike thanks man lol I had to do a page search to find it! Ok I feel a little better now!

  • Rey should fix the post to make it more legible.

  • MGS1 ON PSVITA!!! ITS BEEN HELLOFATIME OF PS1 COMPABILITY UPDATE AND STILL NO MGS1!!!

  • @IIL0YDII

    You’re not alone.

  • Will the Fatal Frame trilogy be complete?
You releases FF1 and FF2, hope to see Fatal Frame 3 as a PS Classic too.

  • Getting Killer is Dead this week. Still trying to decide if I should get Spelunky or Divekick.

  • I loooove Crimson Sea 2. Never understood why the first was Xbox exclusive, and then the sequel was PS2 exclusive though.

@7: I agree about “PSN”. It’s useless. Especially with us actively getting PSP games digitally… and then we have Vita, PS3 and soon PS4. It’s going to be a HUGE mess when we get to that point. Especially when those PS4/Vita indies come out. Since, there are SOME that are on PS3/PS4/Vita, but most PS4/Vita… it’s going to be hard to keep track as a consumer, when The Drop is so damn lazy.

They may as well not say anything with “PSN” because that’s the information it provides. Nothing.

  • @Gamerzlimited
go learn and come back, CTR: Crash Team Racing isn’t on North American PS Vita, Also the complaint is valid, it isn’t Activision we need to complain to, it’s sony, seeing it’s SCEA that is having a issue, The games are everywhere but north america cause they aren’t trying clearly because it obviously isn’t activision saying no since it’s on vita everywhere else and it isn’t a compatibility issue. Same with FFV, still not on Vita. Can you people at Sony get this done. Since I had my Vita I’ve had hopes to play CTR and Crash 2 on my vita as well as have FFI-X (when HD releases), but I can’t seeing FFV doesn’t work and I wanted the PSN PSP FF (fine we have PSOne) but common about the others, they don’t reply, but I know they read these comments.

  • Well Killzone has been fun.
Only complaint is the rear touch pad zoom, and the lack of a starting point like counter strike had.
So alot of run and gun, without as much for strategy.

Guacamelee and Mutant blobs attack were great additions.
(Very worth the money, if you have not purchased yet.)

And Mavel vs Capcom has been fun playing tutorials, although the multiplayer is lacking.

    Thanks for the fun.

  • For my own wish list.

    Socom 3.

  • I’m getting Spelunky. I hope it isn’t as hard as people say though. With the recent Vita price drop and Killzone Mercenary coming out soon, I hope Sony releases a Vita/KZ Mercenary bundle and advertises it during NFL opening week games. It could really boost sales. I love Indie games, but the Vita deserves better games and if they sale enough Vitas, we could finally get the big budget games we really want. I would love to see an exclusive GTA game a Darksiders game or another Uncharted game. Golden Abyss was a launch game and i think it’s still easily the best vita game.

  • I’m also glad that Crimson Sea 2 got added on PSN. It may be a niche game, but it’s really fun. I hope we get more Koei titles like what Europe gets.

@BahamuttZero No problem. After reading the blog again, it’s looks like it’s there under “Floating Cloud God: Saves The Pilgrims in HD”. It’s not in bold and not spaced so it probably got added recently.

@Teflon02 I said Crash “Tag” Team Racing, not Crash Team Racing. You know, the one on PSP. Which is the only Crash related game that does work on Vita if you transfer it using your PS3. I don’t want to hear people saying it’s not the PS1 classic, it’s still Crash. The same Crash that spins and not slaps.

@RaxGhost What are you talking about? MGS1 works fine on the Vita. Like the same method with CTTR, you just need to transfer it using your PS3. You probably meant Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, which I know can’t be transferred either ways.

  • where is real boxing in ps vita????????????????????????????????????????????

  • I like how the person who wrote this couldn’t even be bothered to separate the title Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F at all from Floating God Cloud Saves the Pilgrims. Now when that game doesn’t sell because no one even knows it existed and when we don’t get more English translations of Japanese titles you know it’s because of Son’y incompetence. I don’t get how this dummy hasn’t been fired yet though, if I screwed up have as much at a real job I would be gone, not a single week that the Drop doesn’t have a glaring screw up.

    Great drop of games though.

  • hi questions regarding dead or alive 5 Ultimate:
    -PS Plus discount?
-Will it be day one release?
-Will the PSN version come with pre-order costumes that Gamestop is offering?

  • @Gamerzlimited
You are a real fool. No one cares if the PSP Crash Tag Team Racing works on Vita through PS3 (I actually own the original UMD), Either way how can you say “I don’t want to hear people saying it’s not the PS1 classic, it’s still Crash. The same Crash that spins and not slaps.” That makes no sense, it is about the specific games, if you have no care for it fine, but because we complain for the games to work on Vita, you complain saying you can’t wait for it to be pulled off PSN… If you have a issue don’t come on the PS Blog, simple.

Haahahahahahahahah. Are you serious, someone actually paid to have this made. This is the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time. I can see maybe two people buying this game. No offence. love you guys, but this game just screams bad.

  • Thanks for noticing and fixing the blog, Justin. Hopefully Rey gets a serious talk from the big boss at Sony.

@Teflon02 It totally makes sense. If I wasn’t being specific enough, here’s a better sentence: It’s the same Crash from the PS1 classics and not the one from “Crash of the Titans” and “Mind Over Mutant”. If they wanted classics, they should have been more specific before and they finally have now. So I might as well say that just to piss those two off because they keep spamming it at every single “The Drop” blog, but it seems I went too far and pissed other people too. And by the way, that was a joke. You really think I would like Sony if they did that? I haven’t even bought all of them yet and still want to buy them so I can turn my PSP into a PS1 emulator. So your a fool to fall for my post.
