Photography in Tearaway: Let Your Creativity Loose

Tearaway is about going on an adventure. It’s a very personal journey between two people: you, and your new messenger friend. If you’re going on an adventure, you’re likely going to see lots of amazing things, and you’ll probably want to tell people about them. That’s why we gave Iota and Atoi their own cameras!

As soon as we put the camera into Tearaway, the whole studio started documenting and sharing their journeys through the vibrant, papery landscapes, and in addition to providing us with mementos, it was clear that it could be a great avenue for creativity, too. If you know anything about us, you’ll know that’s something we can’t help but include in our games.

You’ll be awarded the camera early in your adventure. It comes with a kit lens, with a nice depth of field, and you can get snapping straight away. To unlock new lenses and special filters, you’ll need to collect confetti; little colourful bits of paper you’ll see throughout the world. You can spend this confetti on numerous things, including camera items.

There are five additional lenses to collect, each brings something different to the experience. There’s the macro lens for close-ups, a zoom lens for capturing distant scenes, a high speed lens for fast-moving objects, a wide angle for capturing more of the scene, and – finally – the Quantum Lens, for capturing photos of the real world using PS Vita’s front and rear cameras.

On top of the different lenses, you can unlock a set of filters to help you get super artsy. These filters could be warming or cooling, put everything into negative, or turn a scene black and white… There are 15 filters in total, all with their own special effects and properties.

Once you’ve taken a snap you’re particularly proud of, you can share it with your friends via Facebook or Twitter, or with the world at large via our Tearaway community website. We can’t wait to see what you guys manage to capture and share come November 22nd!

  • Wow

  • This game, it can’t come soon enough. Will there be a demo?

  • Still haven’t decided if I’ll pre-order the physical version or wait for digital. I hate that you have to shut off the Vita completely to change game cards, but then I wouldn’t have to worry about space.

If you guys would just announce a physical CE with an art book, I’d be all over that! The art book for Dragon’s Crown is what convinced me to pre-order that.

  • My Vita is sure getting quite the work out this year. Can’t wait for this game. MM are some crazy talented folks.

  • @3 (xClayMeow)

You don’t need to shut off the vita to change your game card. You only need to do that if you are changing out Memory Cards. Just make sure that you have saved your data and exited the application before removing the game card.

  • This is great. I can’t wait for this game to come out. Sucks that it got delayed to a week after the PS4 launches. Either way, I’m super excited for this. It’s the game that made me realize I needed a Vita when it was revealed last year.

  • Day 1 digital for me, even if i have to delete another game to make room.

  • This will be game to look out for, but at a later time of course it’s GTA5 for a liitle then KZ shadow fall nxt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can’t friggin’ wait to play this.

  • @beetle, seriously?! Sweet, I guess I didn’t read that carefully enough! Thanks, that’ll make me feel okay with “changing games” more often than I typically do!

  • I can’t wait to snap away at this game!

  • mm is the best hope they make a demo of tearaway

  • I am so excited for this game! I finally got a Vita yesterday and I promptly pre-ordered Tearaway. :D

  • I hate that this game is coming out right after the PS4 release. I’m gonna be spending a lot of money on me right before Christmas.
