Meet the Cast of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag

We’re introducing a full crew of rowdy yet realistic buccaneers, privateers and straight-up pirates in Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, so we figured you would benefit from a little face-time with the roughest of them. And who better to cry them out for you than Captain Edward Kenway himself, played by the talented Matt Ryan.

Meet the Cast of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag

Widely renowned for his incredible charisma and mercurial temper, Captain Edward Kenway is joined by his Quartermaster and closest ally Adewale (played by Tristan D. Lalla. The pair will quickly find themselves thrown in with the likes of the wiley and terrifying Edward “Blackbeard” Thatch, the gentlemanly yet morally grey Benjamin Hornigold and the downright jolly Stede Bonnet.

Meanwhile, the dauntless privateer Woodes Rogers seeks to eliminate the encroaching pirate threat festering in Nassau. But first, he’ll have to contend with the wicked and merciless cut-throat Charles Vane (played by Ralph Ineson).

Now you’ll be armed with knowledge when you come upon any of these scourges of the West Indies, where a spyglass, a skilled crew and sturdy masts may be all that stand between you and date with Davey Jones’ locker!

  • can’t wait

  • also can someone tell me if the gameplay has changed since part 1. I remember part one being so slow and all about stealth. I like the story line of the series but want a more fast paced game.

  • If I purchase the PS3 version then upgrade to the PS4 version will my game progress transfer? You know would love to start the game 2 weeks earlier than waiting :)

(Have asked this several times with no replay so far)

  • @JimmyHACK, According to IGN, you will not be able to transfer single-player information. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/09/26/upgrading-your-game-to-next-gen-be-ready-to-lose-progress

  • I too am curious about the PS3 > PS4 digital upgrade deal and save games. I hadn’t thought about it before but that does pique my interest.

  • JimmyHACK – from what I’ve read single player progress will not transfer over. The game will probably be able to preserve your online rank and statistics, similar to how they are doing this for Call of Duty and Battlefield, but your save data will definitely not be able to be transferred. So if you’re planning on getting a PS4 at launch like me, then unfortunately we’re gonna have to wait. :(

  • thebgj – The gameplay has changed quite dramatically since the first game, but not a whole lot since the second game. 1 to 2 represented a huge leap in terms of making the game faster-paced and more varied. It’s definitely worth checking out, perhaps there is a timed trial on Plus of one of the later games in the series to give you a feel.

  • Great video…lots of informations….AC fan and playa all the way..one of the best multiplatform games of this gen…..one of the best writing….this is a must buy for me,you guys have ma money already.I wish I could get the collector’s edition though…whatever the standard will do.Can’t wait to get lost in AC4 pirate world.

  • Never could get into the multiplayer, but the single player looks epic for sure Doods. PS4 day 1 I’m out

  • Looks like a good cast. Sounds good anyways.
I hope the game is great, though I’ll have to wait on it at the moment.

  • Didn’t watch, just want to say I save those things for when I play the games. I catch on quick to some things and some of the slightest things can be spoilers for me. Like Final Fantasy, I don’t really want to see everyone that is going to end up in my party. Just saying

  • Well I know its up to me but I thought I’d ask you guys your opinion.

I played AC2 and l liked it a lot. It took me a very long time to get through it. Then just about a year ago I picked up Brotherhood but only got 7 hours into it.
For both Revelations and AC3 I heard more bad than good so I guess it just became more of a Time vs other games issue and I haven’t gone back and finished Brotherhood.

Now out of nowhere this game is the frontrunner for a Day 1 PS4 pick up for me.
    What would you guys do?
    1. Grind out those other games to see the story?
    2. Hit youtube and just catch up on what I missed?
    3. Do think I need to play AC3 at least, before this to get the best experience?
    4. Do you think this AC4 game is a good jump in point?

  • @ vitalogy11

First of all, I know I am in the minority here, but my favorite game in the series was AC1. Most people will tell you that AC2 was the best in the series, and I wouldn’t argue with them, I just prefer AC1. So with that said I am not surprised you liked AC2 and could not get through Brotherhood.

    Now, to answer your question:
    1) AC4 is a prequel to AC3, so I would not say you NEED to play AC3 first. However, AC4 and AC3 are supposed to be very connected, with AC4 setting all of the backdrop for what happened in AC3 (I know that is confusing because the number are backwards).

    *****SMALL SPOILER ALERT******

    2) The modern day side of the story reached it’s completion in AC3, so I guess that becomes a non-issue in terms of storyline.

In short, if there were ever an AC game to just jump right into, this is probably the best one. If you play AC3 you might get a little more out of it, but I don’t think it is necessary.

I just realized that you may have stopped reading after my spoiler alert and missed my final conclusion. So here it is again:

In short, if there were ever an AC game to just jump right into, this is probably the best one. If you play AC3 you might get a little more out of it, but I don’t think it is necessary.
