We anticipate that developers will devise other interesting ways to use this feature.

Has DUALSHOCK 4′s internal motion sensor been upgraded since DUALSHOCK 3?

Yes, DUALSHOCK 4′s upgraded SIXAXIS motion sensor is noticeably more responsive compared to DUALSHOCK 3 in supported titles. For example, the PS4 edition of Flower features more responsive motion controls, enabling players to more easily guide flower petals. DUALSHOCK 4′s SIXAXIS motion sensor is even precise enough for text input. In this optional mode, PS4 users can “point” at different letters using the DUALSHOCK 4 controller to form words.

I’ve heard the DUALSHOCK 4 controller features “enhanced rumble.” What does that mean? What’s the benefit?

DUALSHOCK 4′s multiple vibration motors give PS4 games a greater degree of expression and immersion.

I’ve heard that DUALSHOCK 4 features less “latency” than other controllers. What does this mean?

All wireless devices experience some form of latency, a tiny delay between, say, pushing a button and seeing an action performed onscreen. Thanks to new technology and hardware optimizations, the DUALSHOCK 4 controller’s wireless connectivity experiences less latency overall than the PS3′s DUALSHOCK 3 controller.

Can the DUALSHOCK 4 controller connect to a PC?

Remote Play between PS4 and PS Vita systems leverages Gaikai’s proprietary game streaming technology. PS4 supports this technology on a system level in order to reduce the burden for developers. read, ps4 has only hdmi output, just like ps3. no hdmi input. there is pretty much what it supports and what it doesnt. these hardware things cannot be changed atleast on these first ps4:s but other major issues is fixed by just system updates. like using bluetooth, dlna etc.. Most of i just want to know, DOES PS4 PLAY 3D MOVIES?? cos i have watched my blueray 3d movies with ps3, cos i dont have any other 3d blueray player, and my ps3 is going upstairs where is no 3D tv, i would want continue to watch 3D movies in my living room, does ps4 support this?? i dont even care dlna, mp3 etc, never used those on ps3, i have other devices for that. And i would wanna know does there come update what supports other bluetooth headsets? i dont have bluetooth headset what includes something receiver what needs to put on usb slot. Also blueray remote control from ps3 to work on ps4 would be nice, but not neccessarity, i just want continue 3D movies watcing with ps4 too, cos no room for 3 consoles to living room, so ps3 goes bedroom as blueray/netflix player after ps4 comes to europ, and i hope there is some major updates coming by then.

Why has Sony not figured out how to give different people signed in on one console at the same time the trophies they should have earned like Xbox does? It still only gives trophies to one player, even when tue second player signed into a PSN account and earned it. Very frustrating.

Wow! Best system ever! I have been playing video games since the Atari 2600 and it is amazing to see how far video games have gone. Very Disappointed!!!!!!

So let me get this straight. My PS3 does more than my NEW PS4?

The fact that I own a $300+ gaming Turtle Beach headset and cannot chat with PS4 is absolutely insane. Your telling me that technology has gone backwards and now I have to order a cable to plug my headset into the controller just to chat where PS3 i simply connected via bluetooth and had complete independent control of game and chat volume. Playstation really dropped the ball on this system. If anyone is reading this and trying to decide whether or not to buy the PS4….DON’T (until they fix the Bluetooth, MP3, DLNA, Audio CD, External hardrive conncetivity/usage issues). You will not be happy. Maybe its time Sony looses some customers to Xbox.

Well, one of the things that makes me thing the ps3 is a super console is the fact that i can use it as a media center besides the great games it has. With the support for playing different music and video formats (wav, mp3, although would be nice to have flac files support) and DNLA, it is incredibly practical using it as media center. I was really excited with the ps4 as a good ps fan, but the fact that it does not even support mp3 (which is not my prefered audio format) or video playback, discourages me to buy one. I really hope that in a not so long future the ps4 could have more media format options because if not i think i’ll be keeping my ps3 and see if the competition meets my requirements.

I had a thought: why not add social media to parental controls for sub accounts? If you cannot upgrade sub accounts to master accounts you could at least do this. There are a lot of teenagers who would love to be able to post screenshots to their twitter and facebook accounts. It would be good marketing to their friends too. I implore you to make this change. Just an parental control thing. It’s probably difficult but I think it would make a lot of people happy.

Pre-ordered in August…pumped up and excited for launch. Deflated a couple weeks before launch with the news my shiny new PS4 cannot do all my trusty launch model PS3 can. Yeah, I know the PS3 couldn’t do it all on day one, but come on, NOBODY at Sony questioned the fact that CD playback, DLNA, and user digital media (audio, video and photo) was stripped out of thie PS4!?!

Seriously. Picked up my PS4 12:30 AM launch day. Sat in the box until last night. Reluctantly cracked it open due to non-committal and lack of concrete evidence that this stuff will be added in the future. Sure Killzone looks pretty but as it stands now PS3 > PS4. Feeling punked by Sony and feel that this is the weirdest next-gen console pickup ever. My lack of excitement disturbs me. This thing is supposed to be next-gen but right now it is less-than…

I’m kinda pissed how limited the console is so far, no support for audio CDs and MP3s, no PS Home, external hard drives, themes, ect. Hopefully they’ll add these features in the future.

I was wondering if eventually we were going to be able to buy PS3 games or older gen games at the playstation store on the PS4. I went from a PS2 straight to the PS4, and I know the PS4 wont play PS3 discs but I was just curious if it was possible at the PS store. I am really excited for all the new games to come out, but I really would love to play some PS3 games that I never got a chance to.

“The PS4 system does not support client functionality* for media servers.”

This is a deal breaker for me. I would have purchased the PS4 tomorrow had I not just read this. The PS4 is a better system with 50% more speed for $100 less. Since the games will generally be the same, I assume a higher frame rate on the PS4 (unless the games limit the FPS).

I’m not a big fan of the Xbox One, but “Xbox One: Microsoft confirm console is DLNA compatible”. I’m seriously considering picking it up. I care more about DNLA than I do the $100 price difference…

Sony, Your failures are obvious, and people NEED to stop supporting them until they stop going backwards.

3d support
DLNA
Media Server
BLUETOOTH HEADSETS- ARE YOU KIDDING ME.

Just for the headsets alone. Your third party “partners” says bluetooth ps4 compatible and then you pull this crap.

F u sony and I’m returning everything and going xbox one. You won me and lost me all at the same time.

I had the Ps4(399), PSN Plus(50), Turtle Beach PX4(150), the Vita(200), 2 extra controllers(120)

Its all going back. People need to stand up to this crap. The PS3 has 10x the features on 7 year old hardware.

This is not how a business should produce products and support. Pulling promised features, for down the road, or NEVER like the 3rd party headset.

Bye Sony, Hello Wii U, Xbox.

Oh returning the Sony AV receiver and soundbar I picked up for the other room as well.

Anyone having problems with the px3 headset that is suppose to work on the ps4? Support and turtle beach said the headset is bad but it works fine on the ps3 and they have no idea what they are doing. I can hook the headsetup and hear audio and chat but i can’t turn the volume up when i touch the buttons on the headset it disconnects from the ps4 and then reconnects on its own. It makes no sense that other people its working for but not for me. I also have a gamestop usb headset that when i plug it in the ps4 recognizes it but it doesn’t work the little black bar on the cord to adjust volume and mute the lights aren’t on. I dont want to buy another headset if something is wrong with the ps4.

SONY PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE send an update to support the Pulse Headset. I cannot even begin to understand why SONY would even consider leaving their own headsets out on launch. The only thing I can think of is they were testing the waters out so they can announce a “new” ps4 headset.

I really hope they fix this. They really dropped the ball on this. I should have known it was all too good to be true. They seemed like they were on a roll announcing one great thing after another only to come out with this. How disappointing! So many features missing, and still no updates!

They will not put an update for Dlna / Mp3 / External hard drives / anytime soon but they will eventually add these basic features. They hope gamers will subscribe to their Video / Music unlimited services before the update. This is very sneaky on Sonys part and Its obvious what they are trying to do. Think about it this way, why wouldn’t they give these general features but instead give of unlimited sharing options. The only reason is profit.

The single gamer has the OPTION to create 2 video sharing accounts along with the OPTION of streaming to Facebook as well. Now, suppose the gamer created all 3 account just for their PS4 then we have just unlock unlimited advertising capabilities for Sony and other companies. The sharing capabilities will benefit Sony Advertising.

Here it is. Now, everyone watches movies and music. Why wouldn’t Sony just allow us TO ACTUALLY WATCH OR LISTEN TO OUR OWN MEDIA WE ALREADY OWN!?. Its Simple , it will not benefit Sony at this time.

So if you re like me and you’re extremely pissed off, you need to do something about it. If you want to do something about it, call and complain or even tweet to Sonys management team. This will shorten the wait process for these basic and general features.

The PS4 is great but what will i do after gaming Sony. Can i play my OWN MUSIC OR MOVIES!

Unbelivable

Dear Sony,

Just an update…

I did cancel my preorder, however it was on launch day, and not the day before as I said it was going to be. So whenever you guys get around to adding the features that kept me from going through with my purchase in the first place (no CD/MP3/DLNA) then you’ll get my money. I’ll be waiting until then.

Sincerely,

A Loyal Customer

i just got my PS4 as my first play station console so this might be a bit of a stupid question. anyways, when i got my console, i put in my PSplus 30 day trial number and so that is active right now. however midway through december im going to be away through to the end of the month. by that time my PSplus would have expired. i have downloaded one of the free games that come with PS plus and i know that if i let my PSplus expire, i will lose it. but if i reactivate it, would i get my games back or would i have to pay to play it again. i know that i can have it set up to automatically bill my card but i dont like using it. u prefer to buy a code from the store and puting it in on my console or online, but where im going there is very little to no access to it. thanks.

I can’t believe the PS4 can do so many amazing things but can’t play audio cds or mp3′s.
You would have had to go out of your way to remove the ability to play audio cds in a disc based system.
The cost saving would be negligible at best so why?

Thank you for all the information. Not being able to plug in an external hard drive is a deal breaker for me, though. I mostly use my PS3 for movies, and was really hoping that the PS4 would accept external hard drives in NTFS format. That, and no backwards compatibility gives me no reason to buy it. My daughters like their PS3 games, as well as their PS2 games, and I just have no room for 3 game systems.
