Hi everyone! We’ve released a new system software update for PS Vita, version 3.00. This update includes some great features, like a new application called PS4 Link, which — you guessed it — allows PS Vita to connect to PS4 for Remote Play and Second Screen capabilities. We’re thrilled for everyone to see how PS Vita will be the ultimate companion device to PS4 through this application.

PS4 Link
The PS4 Link app has been added to the PS Vita system’s home screen. With this application, you can use your PS Vita to remotely control a PS4 system, and play a range of PS4 games on your PS Vita screen. When you’re playing a game on PS4 that supports second screen features, you can also display information from that game on your PS Vita and use it as a second screen.
Parental Controls
The Parental Controls application has been added to the home screen. You can now manage the duration of game play, and the use of games and videos that have parental controls. You can also control access to certain areas of the system, including the use of the Internet browser and Location Data.
Photos
A Panoramic Camera setting has been added. You can now take panoramic photos on PS Vita, and look around the photo by using the PS Vita’s built-in motion sensor.
Friends
The application layout for Friends has been improved. There are now four tabs:
- Find Player on PSN
- Friends
- Friend Requests
- Players Blocked
Messages
The Group Messaging application name and icon have been changed to Messages. The application layout has also been improved, and you can now send and receive messages with friends and players on PS4 or on mobile devices installed with PlayStation App.
Party
The icon for the Party application has been changed. You can now voice chat and text chat with friends and players on PS4.
You can now sync the contacts saved in your email account from services including Gmail and Yahoo! Mail. To sync your contacts, select Contact List > Options > [CardDAV Settings] > [Add CardDAV Account], and then follow the screens.
Content Manager
You can now use Wi-Fi to connect your PS Vita to a PS3, and transfer data between them. Your PS Vita and PS3 must be connected within the same network. Also, to use this feature, the system software of the PS3 you’re using must be version 4.50 or later.
PS3 Remote Play
The Remote Play application name and icon have been changed to PS3 Remote Play.
Settings
You can now download future system software updates automatically.
Trophies
You can now display Trophies of PS4 software on your PS Vita. Rarity of the trophy cannot be displayed.
And another can yall remodel the UI make it look different give it some new life like the name itself VITA means life right well give it one thank you.

151 comments from consumers that, in general, all say the same thing with 0 comments from Sony. There’s not even a generic “thank you for your feedback” comment. This tells you all that you need to know regarding their support of the Vita and addressing the concerns/problems with the Vita that have been raised by the gaming community. I am astonished that the “preparing to download” bug is still an issue. After all this time! Seriously Sony, you have a device that can’t even access your own store to purchase items without requiring the user to do a whole song-and-dance to get it to work. That’s simply unacceptable. Sony, you can do better than this. So please try.
I thought the VITA PS4 Link App was suppose to have the features of the upcoming official PlayStation app for Android and IOS.
1) I don’t see where the mobile companion app to Knack would go.
A free puzzle game that can be played to earn some items in the full PlayStation 4 title.
I know we can remote play but why not let Vita owners also play companion apps on the go?
2) I don’t see where we can browse the full PS store other than using the web browser.
I like dedicated buttons better than just touch screen but it looks like we might be better off just using the Android/IOS device as they will be getting more features.
How about improving compatibility between PS1 and PSP games?
Isn’t this supposed to be a BIG feature that was said to be updated regularly?
I haven’t seen an increase in the compatible game list for almost a semester.

Now there is just one thing left that needs an update, and that is the PS4 supporting MP3/MP4 support. Again I’m going to say it, i will not pay to listen to music on the ps4, please fix this with an update.
I don’t mean to keep being a hatter, but i want my point to come across, pleas fix this, and i still think Playstation 4 is better then the Xslop dumb. :P
The store bug is long overdue in being fixed.
Only thing I get out of the update is a panorama camera. Which I don’t use the camera as the Vita isn’t truly portable, in the pocket sense.
Man I am sooo pumped right now. I get goose bumps just thinking of what game will use vita as a second screen; I’ve been waiting for that since before the Wii U came out.
More apps on the Vita!!!!

It would be awesome to have 512GB Memory Card for the PS Vita price at $160-200.
The update looks nice….dont care for useless PS4 stuff…but I’m curious with the Messages thing…have you guys improved it so we can see if we received new messages even while playing a game or doing another thing other than having to go to the Group Messaging screen to see if you have received a message.Thats really annoying…and should be like PS3.You know notification popping out right in the moment we receive a message.
Plus how about improve the remote play on PS3 and make an insane amount of titles available?…….I mean at least all Sony titles can be made available for remote play.Make it happen.
Oh yes….forgot to mention…how about the Store freezing?….I ain’t the only one with this problem and I really cant(yes I’m totally unable) download a single thing on the Vita Store….that it freezes my Vita and I have to power off….what a shame…if I didn’t have a PS3…I wouldn’t be able to play a single game on my Vita other than the physical ones I have.

1.We still need to be able to access the Sony entertainment website through Vita browser.
2.Being able to buy previously downloaded games (IGC).
*Would really also love the idea of adding a setting directly in the console for button assignment , and better precision adjustments to thumb stick control.*
(This could make games that I can not get a good feel for, more enjoyable, by allowing me to make adjustments.)
And I love #8’s idea , of being able to turn icons off (or/and change the cover image)
Maybe a lock, on certain games / videos instead of the current rating system.
+Glad to see, I will no longer have to keep rebooting my Vita every time it wants to freeze, during downloads.

So, do we still dont have rotate image? I dont mean that cool turning your vita gets you to turn an image. I mean like a 90 degree turning setting so we can flip an image for good.

Is the analog issue fixed? Like when I’m playing call of duty or, Asphalt, the camera moves in all directions.

I was quite happy when i found out about the update but when i noticed the parental controls i looked for a way to get rid of this app because i have no need for app such as this but i was quite irritated when i found this not possible there needs to be a delete option because it just takes unnecessary space and clutters my space if im missing something and it can be disabled in options please let me know

Hi Sharon ! any update on the browser side … I am able to see a 13 point increase in the new HTML test , it has 306 points out of 555 points … Also, it would be great if we can chat to user directly from friend list than going to messaging app. Is there any update on e-book reader ?
Please give us back the old PSP XMB! I don’t want to hear that it cant/wont work. I know it can work, you could easily make it work with touch controls as well as the sticks. This whole bubbble thing is a little immature looking to me, and it takes so much more time oranising and scrolling through apps, its ridiculous. please give us the OPTION to switch back to PSP or PS3 XMB. I hav every confidence in you.

As far as I know, it’s the first time anyone has acknowledged people who have been complaining about the 100 icon limit.
It is especially problematic for people who are not connected to the internet for extended periods of time

Great update, can’t wait to get my hands on my Vita this month. :)
I think a nice feature to add would be immediate message receiving. Like on the PS3 you get notified the moment a message is sent to you, but on the Vita, you either have to continually refresh or wait 15 minutes.
Panoramic Camera is useless please can u add the abilty to send and share files via bluetooth to mobile users like photos and music and upload to facebook and twitter and i wish that it got ability to send message to cellphone users via 3g plss add it bluetooth is useless if its only for headsets whats the point putting it if thats the only purpose
hope u can add those things so people will consider buying vitas usefull thats the only people in philippines need using vita even it doesnt got call function at least add a text function to cellphones so that we dont need to swap simcards to cellphones just to register unlimited internet using 3g
So ive just done the update and now my Vita wont turn on!!! The light doesnt even come on when I plug the charger in. Anyone help me??
The new update was cool but i notice new problem with the Friends app that was miss, when you go into the Friends app then leave it open for about 1 hour or so then go back into it again the whole Online Status showing yours friends online don’t show no more and says this:
“By adding Friends, you can play games with players no matter where they are. Friends can also send message and compare trophies with each other.”
I notice this problem and i try everything to fix it by closing app for 1 min then reopening it again and shows the same problem still. Turning off the console will fix this problem.

I would like to request something that would make my gaming experience that much better on PS VITA.
Please add a setting to be able to disable the light on the PS button on the VITA. I often play my VITA at night with the lights out and the blue light on the button is not only distracting, but it physically discomforts me.

after update 3.00 I have the problem that game Metal Gear Solid (from PS Store) doesn’t work as it should be. The in-game movies en codec-conversations begin to stutter and the sound is echoing. I think update 3.00 is the problem, because before that the game functioned perfect. Is there anybody who downloaded that game too, en can check if they got the same problem? Thank you very much!!!

Three things needed in a future update:
1. More compatible PS1 games. No Crash Bandicoot?
2. More compatible PSP games. Bring back Motorstorm AE!
3. PS2 games for Vita. Too many great games to ignore!
I have a problem!!
The update went well, love the panoramic camera and general optimization, but….
I can’t reset my Vita to default settings!
It keeps asking me for parental control code, I’ve never set one, nor wanted to.
Only I use this system, and I wanted to change it to my new account (it was previously set to my friends account, but only I use it now, so i bought him off and wanted to sign in for PS+ and use my own account)
I had no problems with resetting settings before update, it never asked for parental control password, something is very wrong, i’ve done that many times since i have it….
Please help me somebody.
How long did it take you to download and install 3.00? I just purchased a refurbished Vita and am installing via PS3 usb. My screen is dark like energy saver, and ps3 still says “Connected to PSVita system. Operations such as copying and…”
Could you think about adding music and camera shortcuts to the start screen. Every time you need to change you song you have to go through the password and stuff. It desperately needs a shortcut!
Can’t access PS4 link. I have 104 apps on my Vita, and only 100 can display. Refuse to delete anything off my Vita–I have the storage space on my memory card. Please update the OS to support more than 100 bubbles.
And yet it still doesn’t support WPA2 access points. So yeah. v3.0.
Huh, so I noticed you can also turn on a mouse pointer in the internet browser by pressing square.
I just updated and now none of my apps are staying logged into psn and it keeps kicking me out right away, anyone else having this problem?
EEyyy i having problems with the 3.0 update , i cant play online , the system ask for my password , I put in, and then say “connecting to PSN” and then log me out from PSN and throw me again to the pass window.

Yup. 3.00 seems to have hosed network play for me too
since i downloaded this update i cant connect to any multiplayer sessions in any game and every time i connect to psn i always get signed out. can i get any answer to fix this prblem and please fix this.

I have found a work around for the sign in problem. Pull up your settings. Goto PSN. Check to see if it says you can’t login. If it does, select sign-in, and go to system activation, and activate system under the game option. Boot up a game and go into multiplayer. It should sign in, and make you agree to the new TOS. Now you can play online again.
If it doesn’t say anything about not being able to sign in, just select sign in. Once again, goto system activation, and select activate under game. Boot up a game and go into multiplayer. It should sign you back out. Go back into settings and PSN, and sign in again. This time you should make you agree to the TOS straight away. Now you can play MP game again. Enjoy.
