We’re not the only ones excited, here’s what Eric Monacelli, Marketing Manager at Naughty Dog had to say:

I buy everything on Amazon… holiday gifts, birthday presents, books, clothes, tech, even toothpaste and often deodorant. So when I learned Jak, Daxter, Drake, Joel, and Ellie — all our incredible characters and their stories via our games and DLC would be available as PlayStation Store digital downloads on Amazon it just felt right.

You have to respect and think that any company with their own Easter egg is a perfect fit for all things Naughty Dog and PlayStation. If you’re not aware of what that means just visit www.relentless.com. You’ll love what you find.

So, as a consumer and fan of video games being accessible in as many ways as possible…Thank you Sony PlayStation and Thank you Amazon. The next generation is going to be relentless and awesome.

In celebration of the launch, we’re pleased to offer a $5 credit good towards more PSN digital content sold on Amazon.com to anyone who purchases the digital version of games like The Last of Us, Batman Arkham Origins, Madden 25 and more. Just hop on over to this page, purchase the game of your choice, and your credit will be automatically applied to your account. We’re excited to offer you a new place to discover and purchase PlayStation Network Content, and we welcome any feedback you have.

  • Is this yet another not for Canadians promotion?

Or will Amazon.ca also do it?

  • SO awesome!

  • I’m really, really, really glad you guys at Amazon are doing this. I’m also really, really, really glad you guys brought back the $10 PSN card gift code thing because that’s what I miss the most out of all. I hope you guys don’t remove it because the $10 PSN code thing is actually convenient. Also, I hope you guys include almost every DLC available to buy!

  • This I seriously why I love sony. So glad I switched 4 years ago. First all the amazing games on PS + and now this. Keep it up!

  • In the past, you were able to by PSN content on Amazon. Then one day, Amazon inexplicably stopped selling it. At any rate, this is good news. This way, if I get an Amazon gift card, then I can buy something for PS3. Thanks a lot, guys!

  • Wow, it’s been a long ol’ time since this was a thing. Prolly before PS Plus, since it’s only now that I’m wondering how it could ever come for our Plus discounts to apply on Amazon. Prolly a zero chance, but Amazon’s much more sales-happy. Now, to wonder if games pulled from the PS Store are available through here… (TMNT TIT Re-S, anyone?)

  • Oh man, I literally just bought The Last of Us season pass last night.

    11/11/2013 @ 08:57 PM

Is there any way I can get the $5 credit?

  • Great! PSN won’t recognize my debit card for some reason, so I’m glad I’ll be able to buy stuff on Amazon now.

  • Oh and yes, thank you very much! I’m planning to add another year of my PS+ subscription, through Amazon.

  • I don’t see Next Gen games like BF4 in the Amazon Store. Where is it?

  • When is the PlayStation app coming out? And please tell me anyone with a iPhone or android phone can download it and not just the people with the highest firmware update

  • *browses* Needs more PSP & minis (Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess, yo!).

  • So, any plans on turning a blind eye to non-US credit cards?

Going through hoops just to get to throw money at you make me feel a bit silly.

  • If I use my playstation credit card on amazon to purchase psn content, will I get my 10x rewards?

  • US-only I assume? Even if it was available in Canada it would probably be a half-assed effort like most of what Amazon does up here.

I wish Amazon.ca would offer deals and sales on games like Amazon.com does. It seems like every good Playstation game offer is US-only, while up north of the border we’re stuck with the same prices for months / years on end. Hardly ever see prices that aren’t MSRP from them, and when there are discounts it’s on some game nobody cares about.

    Grumble grumble…

  • Thanks this is amazing news .
it just keeps on getting better

  • Great news! Amazon is a fantastic resource. I honestly need a new hard drive to keep supporting PSN!

I want to express my concern about the PS Vita this holiday. I have looked at most of the black Friday deals posted and so far, there is not any discount towards a Vita. I was planning to pick one up with a 32 gb memory card, but it’s hard to justify when almost everything else has some type of promotional deal. I can but the Vita any time at full price, which makes me think I should be spending my money on something else black friday. I’m very disappointed. The good news is that I’m a big playstation fan, so it’s not anything I would cancel my ps4 pre-order over. Sadly, I can’t see myself getting the PS Vita this season as originally planned.

  • WTF?!?! WHERE IS Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition??? It is the 12th and its not even on PSN!!! DUUUUDE! Come on Sony, with all this cool stuff you do, YOU CANT FREAKING RELEASE OR AT LEAST UPDATE YOUR STUPID STORE???? COME ON! I WANT YO PLAY!!!

  • This is a good thing. But I still don’t get why digital is the exact same price as physical. In the last of us page, the digital is even more expensive than the physical copy. That doesn’t make want to go digital.

  • I have a awesome idea for Amazon.com and this Digital Code sales. How about we login with out Amazon.com account on Amazon.com and Link our PSN account to Amazon.com so when we buy the content is automatically in out PSN account. That way it works just like the PSN Store with no delay :-) Some call me a genius.

I also like to have all exclusive Preorder content when a gamer preorderes a game I assume those that do the Digital Code purchase’s also earn the free DLC offer as well? I want the best experience when going all Digital for my PS4. Don’t want to miss out on exclusive DLC by Preordering via digital download. Aka [Digital Code].

  • Wait ¬¬

Is the Amazon.com the new PSN store competitor?

    Example… PS VITA:

Sly Cooper In PSN STORE: $ 26,99

    Sly Cooper In Amazon.com: $ 19,99

So… My stupid business knowledge, you Sony created an Internal Competitor against YOUR PSN OWN STORE????

    LOL!…

  • And also to add. Since where buying a Digital game and being the same price as retail disc can Amazon.com send me a empty case for the game I bought via [Digital Code]. If not lower the price by a few dollars for less physical content buying. If not I’ll take my Empty Game cases for keeps on my gaming bookshelves.

  • That’s cool. But………..what if amazon itself has a sale on a PS3 game say:

    Assasisn’s Creed 4- $39.99
will amazon PSN Digital honor the price at $39.99 or would still be $59.99?

  • How about amazon.ca? Would be great if at the very least PSN cards were sold online from Canadian retailers no one does that.

  • @Strange_Eddie good point. Hopefully this will be a good way to drive sale prices down. I prefer to buy from PSN Store but not if I can get it at Amazon.com for less with the same content.

Also note PSN store prices dont change till the following Tuesday publish update has rolled out. But looks like Amazon.com prices are done on the fly.

Hope prices can be adjusted on the fly at PSN Store or else its more work for the educated gamer to hunt for the best deal’s.

  • I wish Amazon would allow you to put digital content in your Wish List.

  • This is gorgeous, this is OUTSTANDING!

I join @Rene_Led in asking. Will amazon specials on PSN’s DLC be granted [e.g. PSN Store: Game=$59.99 | Amazon: Game=$39.99] ?

  • Although I believe the answer will be “no”, I’ll give it a try: will these digital purchases at Amazon be possible to be done by people outside US, like me (Brazil)?

  • @18 The PStore has not updated yet. Big games release on midnight but since Injustice is old (also not necessarily a ‘big’ game) you’ll have to wait till later afternoon.

  • Competition is great.

  • Only drag about this is Amazon’s Shop with points policy.

You can’t use points for digital items so you have to get a Amazon Gift card and then apply that to your account to make the digital purchase using points.

  • Wow sony, thanks for all the replies.

  • One thing to remember when adding funds to your PSN wallet is that you can only have $150.00.

Also, your wallet can’t be full when you go to redeem giveaway codes as I found out today when FuturLab was giving out codes as they won’t work.

  • @1: LOL, you expect Amazon.ca to do this? They’re far behind in features compared to amazon.com. Not Sony’s fault this time.

Amazon.ca is terrible. It’s honestly the thing I hate most about moving to Canada. Heck, 99% of all Canadian websites suck. Walmart, Future Shop, Best Buy, etc.

  • Anyhoo, good business decision Sony! Hopefully by 2046 amazon.ca will get to the point where they’re able to do this too.

  • Any chance of getting that Buy Two Get One Free deal Amazon is running, but for PSN?? I’d love to keep all my games digital!

  • eh USA again…..

  • Another win for Sony. They’re on a roll!!!

  • This is good news for PSN and Amazon. I would like to see Amazon have the own separate deals from PSN store…. Now if only Amazon could fix that new awful, cluttered gold box daily deals section.

  • I’m confused. If someone is buying a game digitally, why not just go through the PSN store? In fact, even if they buy it on Amazon, don’t they still have to go to the PSN store for the download itself? Either way, to buy something digitally not off of the PSN store just seems odd and like it adds an unnecessary, redundant step.

  • JUST AMAZING, AWESOME, don’t have words to express my happiness right now! Thank you SONY and AMAZON, best gaming company + best e-commerce company = EPIC WIN!

  • Wow, PlayStation is everywhere

  • Did you know that Best Buy and Gamestop websites also sell some Vita Digital Content but always cost more than the retail counterpart. Let’s hope Amazon does this right and keeps it lower or the same cost than the boxed copy.

I wish more of this was on Best Buy better because of their newer price match guarantee.

  • this is just GREAT news. finaly the 10$ psn codes are back. amazon is the best and my main place for buying online.

  • This is great news. I think this will boost PSN sales greatly.

  • Hopefully this will mean we might actually be able to get real deals on digital games. I’m hoping Amazon will have discounts on the codes for these game every now and then, with prices comparable to the great sales they have for retail copies of games.

Sad that we can’t rely on Sony to to discount these things directly.

  • First, Amazon took over the sale of books; then they started delivering groceries (in my area, anyway); then Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post with pocket change; now they’re selling PSN digital content. Are they soon to be big and scary by owning everything, like Google?

Anyway, great news. I love Amazon so will probably use this service. I already use it to buy the digital PSN card codes when I don’t feel like driving to Gamestop.

  • Any chance this would work for the Latin American versions of the store? Or that’s a big, fat “nope”?
