  • whoa Almost 100 episodes already

  • Amazing Blogcast. Wonder how you’ll celebrate Blogcast Episode 100 ;)

  • I heard there are 2 PS1 Classics coming next week: Metal Gear VR Missions and Oddworld: Abe’s Box!!
Which reignites my hope for Gex: Enter the Gecko which was rated by ESRB along with at least MG VR Missions.
Keep up the awesome work Sony!!

  • Any tips for Remote Play via internet? It seems no matter what I try, my Vita can’t find my PS4 via internet from another location (A few miles away at work, or even just across the street at a starbucks). Direct connection works fine though. Tried static IP and port forwarding the PS4, even put it in DMZ mode for a bit.. beginning to think its the ATT Uverse router for some reason.

  • Man,i really want Ys Memories for Vita! I’m iching for a new jrpg. But Soul Sacrifice becomes free this tuesday, so its best to just play that for awhile and hope Ys goes on sale after i beat that.

  • can you guys update the ps.blog.share page to include ps4 now

  • Please Sony, do something for the gamer community in Brazil. services and the psn blog are horrible, no one answers or gives satisfaction to the consumer, I beg for improvements, please.

American and Canadian gamers friends help us, please.

  • Wow… Shuhei Yoshida’s gave me chills… Thank you for sharing!
    And great episode, guys!

  • Is Scott impersonating Delsin from Infamous Second Son? lol

  • Best podcast ever. I teared up after hearing Shu struggle to recall the story of the girl’s experience with Journey. Absolutely heartbreaking.

  • Is Gran Turismo 6 coming out digitally in NA? I see Europe and Japan already have preorders and everything but nothing in North America :(

  • Can someone tell me,If I will be able to buy tearaway on psn at midnight??? or not..

  • I can’t wait for Ys Memories of Celceta! It’s the first Vita game I ever preordered. I’m getting the silver anniversary edition. Tearaway looks great too, I’ll get it eventually. Great show, it was cool listening to Scott and Shuhei’s games of the generation. Scott took it very serious, and I was surprised that Shuhei put 80 hours into Persona 4 Golden. For some reason though, all I could think of was Shuhei deciding whether to date Chie or Yukiko in the game. I cracked my self up thinking about it.

  • Hi there. Could I please get a link to that Seagate hard drive you mentioned at about the 22 minute mark? Thanks.

  • The 100th Blogcast should be a 99 minute loop of Sid saying ‘Very very’, and then the last second is ‘Farm Fresh’ :D

On a more serious note, that ending with Shu gave me goosebumps. What a guy.

  • @13 I preordered Y’s as well. It seems harder to find some of these JRPGs sometimes. Really hope Sony brings God Eater 2 and Toukiden to the west soon.

  • *SPOILERS IN THE COMMENTS GUYS*

Wow…best podcast yet…the ending took me away. I also remember my 1st and only playthrough of Journey … sigh.

  • Can someone tell me why my Playstation usb headset will not work with my PS4? I thought the update 1.50 would fix that problem, then update 1.51 did not fix the problem either. Thoughts, help please?

  • Woah, that was a pretty deep top 10 from Shuhei Yoshida. I hope there was some hugging afterwards.

  • @18 i was told no by gamestop.

Thank you Shuhei Yoshida for that story.

  • That ending :(

    Great show and great lists.

  • Is #100 the end of Blogcast or something, I will be ‘veerrry very dissapointed If I can’t hear some of my fave people every week. :)

  • To see what Shuhei was talking about, search for the Kotaku article where this girl’s letter was mentioned at a DICE conference.

When I hear these stories, and games elicit these types of emotional responses and feedback, I feel that change needs to come with this upcoming generation. When you couple stories like the one Shuhei told with the stories about how the Journey devs ran out of money and weren’t being paid, something needs to be done.

Games have as much, if not more, emotional impact on people as other media. And we’re in the 8th generation of consoles now, so the costs of creating games are far from a nebulous mystery. If you are going to support and promote the development of games, please try to secure sufficient financing for their development. Perhaps for nascent or riskier efforts like a Flower or Journey, you may want to try creating an “early access” initiative that could help get a developer through a tough phase.

  • is there a way to download that intro? I would love to have it as my ring tone

  • That ending with Shu just about killed me. But in a good way. I cried listening to it. My first play through of Journey had me in tears at the end so I could totally relate to this. Journey is without a doubt one of the best games I have ever played in my entire life. How Shadow of the Colossus didn’t make the list though surprises me. Thank you for sharing such a personal moment with Shu.

  • Persona 4? Then, Mr.Yoshida, why don’t we try to bring the series on PS4 as exclusive? =)
I’d love some jrpg from the series Shin Megami Tensei on PS4. PS2 had many of them (7 if I remember well), but PS3 had none of them (only P4 Arena, but it’s not a main SMT/Persona! it’s a spin off-fightning game).
    On PS4 I want many SMT/Persona =)
More jrpg on home console, please.

  • Shuhei Yoshida what an incredible man he is, he was so emotional about the memories with Journey.
    God Bless You Shuhei-san.

  • Thank you for sharing that story Shuhei Yoshida.
    You are an incredible man!
    BEYOND!

  • A Little off topic, will TMNT: Out of the Shadows arrive to the PS3 before Christmas?

  • I rarely leave comments, but I just had to.

The final few minutes on why Shu’s no.1 game of this generation had to be Journey just touched something in me.
I played through the game once, but I distinctly remember several moments from it, quite like a memorable dream, and I guess what I had felt and seen were quite like the way the girl felt with the game.

Very rarely do we see any consumer medium do that for us, and in doing so, Journey has to be remembered and continued to be passed down for generations to come.

    Nice work, guys.

  • Pretty amazing podcast, gentlemen. The interview with Sony Worldwide Studios president Yoshida-San should be an award winning piece. So unexpected and moving. I’m not ashamed to admit I was moved almost to tears by the end, which was quite a surprise. Well done, and I’ll certainly be here for the next 100 podcasts!

  • Some amazing interviews, guys. Scott Rohde’s list was a little predictable but I think when you put that much time and passion into getting a game out to people, it becomes very hard not to become personally attached to it. That being said, the Shuhei Yoshida list was everything I expect from one of the best minds in gaming and the fact that he let us into such a personal part of his life when he retold that story proves why he is loved by the community. Mr. Yoshida is 100% real and just loves games and it shows. I’m glad to support a company that supports a man like him.

  • I had to log on and post about this podcast. That last segment with Shuhei was amazing. I started to cry while driving down the road. Amazing job guys. This is the podcast to beat.

  • That is one of the best endings I’ve heard in any podcast. I’ve come back here to listen to it repeatedly after hearing it the first time on the drive home from work via iPhone. Thank you so much, Mr. Shuhei Yoshida for sharing your list and your personal experiences with the games. It’s experiences like those that I wish non-gamers could understand why people like me choose video games as one of our main pasttimes. They’re not all mind-numbing, unproductive hobbies. They’re thought-provoking and emotional works of art. [SPOILER] The Walking Dead is the one game that I can ever remember making me bawl tears. Even thought I knew it was coming, by the end I was so invested in the characters that the tragedy affected me strongly.

  • Shuhei, you are a true gentleman. The end of that podcast was something I’ll never forget…….just cements why I, along with many others on here, think the world of Yoshida-san.

I can’t forget Scott Rohde’s list as well………he’s another one of my favs from Sony……he’s a very interesting guy to talk to and the fact that he agonized over some of the decisions reinforced (to me, anyway) that these gentleman REALLY care about games. In other words, they’re just like us.

I feel that the Blogcast is really starting to hit its stride…..keep up the good work!!!!

  • With a guy as passionate about games as Shuhei at the helm, we can be sure the Playstation ship is in good hands.

Now someone pass a tissue, stupid onions…

  • I won a mystery theme (Jeanne D’Arc) a few weeks ago, and I was never contacted. I sent a an email, but still nothing… This is kind of frustrating, especially considering Nick mentioned that I’ll probably get a Proteus code…

  • Wow. Just wow. Catching up on my blogcasts and just finally listened to this one because I wanted to hear Scott and Shu’s top 10 list and compare it with mine. I had no idea how emotional that would be. Just shows the incredible impact our industry has. As a father of three, playing through games like Heavy Rain and The Last of Us – it becomes something more than pixels on a screen. It becomes a connection to our real lives. Well done guys, can’t wait to hear 100 more!

  • didn’t know who to tell so put it in a blog: I think that new generation system should NEXT be Built with a 3-DISC GAME CHANGER that way Lazy people like my self don’t have to walk across the living room, and if u say “thats why they make downloadable games” i say u cant separate the content if perhaps the system were to be lost from theft or damage. Thats just why i prefer disc instead of downloads.

  • Hi PS Blogcast staff,

Thanks for an awesome show once again. Shuhei’s story was really moving and I had a lot of fun listening to Scott’s top 10. Last, but not least, thanks for reading my comments on the air. I have spent the week raving about it to my friends, family and students.

    Keep up the good work.

    Cheers,
    Jorge.
