PlayStation Mobile Update: More Free Games This Week and Two New Releases

PlayStation Mobile Update 12-4-2013, 01

We are halfway through our Festive Giveaway promotion now, and I hope that you have been enjoying the free games. After giving you four great titles over the last two weeks, we are going to give you two more awesome titles this week to carry you through New Year’s: Super Crate Box and Fuel Tiracas!

In January, we will announce four more PS Mobile games for our promotion. So keep checking back on the PlayStation.Blog over the winter to find out which games will be free during the remainder of the Festive Giveaway.

Super Crate Box by Vlambeer

Vlambeer’s smash hit SUPER CRATE BOX brings back the glory of classic gaming when all that really mattered was getting on that high score list! Hold onto your baseball cap and loosen your pants, it’s time to fight endless hordes of enemies and collect every weapon crate you can. Prepare for an arcade delight with tight controls, refreshing game mechanics, cracking retro art and a terribly hip chip tune soundtrack.

Fuel Tiracas by FuturLab

Fuel Tiracas fuses “Whack-A-Mole,” “Spinning Plates” and “Simon Says”‘ gameplay in a vacuum-pressurized sci-fi setting. It’s the ultimate test of fast reactions, memory and time management ability! The game takes place on Planet Tiracas, and currently has no atmosphere. Your sole purpose is to use Tiracas’ natural resources as Fuel to power the planet’s atmosphere systems.

In addition to our free game giveaway, here are some other updates from PlayStation Mobile…

You are the last hope of the human race. In this game, you have to solve challenging, color-coded puzzles in order to prove to your alien captors that humans are worthy of surviving. If you fail, the destruction of mankind is all but assured.

Quiet Christmas by Nostatic Software ($0.99)

quiet1quiet2

It’s the day before Christmas and all you want to do is go to sleep and see what Santa brought you over night. But the Christmas tree is not up, Mr. Peabody’s tacky Xmas display is annoying and your brother won’t go to sleep. Interact with your environment and solve puzzles in this old-school styled adventure game.

Updates This Week

Snake by Carrot Creations ($0.99)

  • Yaaaaaaaaaaaa. Super Crate Box. My Vita is excited for this , thanks guys… Keep on Gaming.

  • super crate is great / side note : is there a way to get help getting a apk into a certain format for ps mobile , yes I’m already a registered developer

  • Super crate looks great but I’ve never heard of it before.

  • There really needs to be some kind of loyalty bonus for PS users who already own the free games that Sony gives away. Like, just in this Mobile giveaway, I’ve already previously purchased Super Crate Box, Rymdkapsel, and Passing Time. Regularly, with PS Plus free games, I’ve already previously purchased them.

I’m not trying to just complain. I’m happy that other people get to experience fun games like Passing Time that I’ve already enjoyed. But you see it a lot in the comments on PS Plus posts: it makes me feel wary buying games when they launch because there’s a decent chance they’ll be released for free or at a heavy discount later.

I don’t know. It’d just be nice if there was a loyalty program where you earn points or store credits or something back when you already end up having purchased a game that was just released for free. It’d sure lessen the sting of consistently having already purchased the free games and make people feel more confident in purchasing on day one.

  • Thank you Sony for the free Games. Free is always good and my Vita is already at the max with 100 apps. Do you guys ever think that the Vita will be able to show more than 100 apps at one time? I do hope that you have engineers working on it because if I have room on my memory card then I should be able to fill it up. Anyways thanks again for the free games.

    Sold.

  • Cool! Super Crate Box is a definite coup for Vita owners.

I wish Verizon Wireless had a decent Sony phone so I could extend my Playstation Mobile love to my other portables. But then again, the Vita really is the best platform for handheld gaming right now, so I’m not complaining too much.

  • Love Super Crate Box on iPad – if only PSM games had trophies!

  • Fuel Tiracas isn’t showing up for free in the store :(

  • Still waiting on that promised trophy support for PSM…

  • thanks to sony for these free games !

  • Fuel Tiracas isn’t showing up as free for me :(

  • When is PS Mobile getting online leaderboards? I haven’t played Super Crate Box in so long, but being able to challenge friends for high scores would really get me playing again!

  • hey…!!!! fuel tiracas….!!! still not free

  • My developer wishlist for PSM is definitely low-level audio support, and support for compressed textures. Raising the RAM limitation to 128MB and supporting a better-optimizing mono JIT would also be great, but the first two issues are the biggest items holding us back right now.

  • It’s NO FAIR!
My Sony Xperia Tablet Z has been at Sony here in Australia for over 4 weeks getting fixed under warranty.
I have missed out on 4 games now… I contacted Sony here in Australia requesting redeem codes for when I get my Tablet back, but I’m told they don’t exist… :-(
    No fair!
I hope I get my tablet back before these games deals are gone altogether…

  • No sorry, EVERY GAME I’ve missed out on so far… as a part of this festive giveaway… :-(

  • Is there any way to purchase the PlayStation Mobile games if don’t have device to download to? The same idea for PS3 owners that were able to buy games for Vita that doesn’t have Vita.

  • I’ll have to check this out seems like this could be a blast!!!!!!!!

  • Ive always thought that mobile games aren’t good enough for my vita, but after these few weeks Im glad to say that Im going to check the mobile section every now and then.

  • I know all of us are very excited for these free games that they’re giving to us but you don’t have to check the store early as a chicken.

You’re saying that the fuel tiracas is not showing for free, well you have to WAIT don’t complain.
    Im just saying.

  • Me too Im still waiting for the promised trophy support.

  • Hey Sony, how about making a DCUO port for the Vita. Seriously, or atleast making it cross-play or cross-controller; i want my Vita to do what was advertised to do, that made me want to spend my money & yes i’ve been a Vita owner since it hit the shelves.

Oh and before I go, thanks for the free mobile games.

Have you seen or been a participant in my COD kills with any of my accounts:

  • Got snowed in, glad I didn’t miss these.

  • I never even took note of the PS mobile games til I saw Super Box Crate. Totally mindlessly addicted to it now. As a gamer that’s been playing since my very first “console” when I was 5, a texas instruments computer, I love this game lol.

  • add me plz

  • I went to PS Store today and these games don’t show as free to me. I am a PSPlus member. Is the giveaway already finished?

  • I went to the Playstation store on my vita on the 17th. I thought the giveaway was already over, but on the “LiveArea” screen I noticed ads for the super crate box festive giveaway. I also noticed the same ads after I started the PSN store. So, I tapped one of these ads excited that the giveaway was not yet over. Then it told me the game cost 3.49.

So… why did the ads show that the game was free when it wasn’t? I guess I already misssed the giveaway, but Sony should’ve removed the ads claiming the game was free once the giveaway ended. Ah well. :P I’ve got Terraria, Tearaway (hey! Those sound the same!), Jetpack joyride, and a handful of vita apps to keep me occupied. It just would’ve been nice for me to get one more game to add to my vita collection for free. :3
