PlayStation Plus: BioShock Infinite Joins the Instant Game Collection

Kristine Steimer's Avatar + Posted by Kristine Steimer on Jan 13, 2014 // Sr. Community Specialist

It’s almost time for BioShock Infinite to join the Instant Game Collection! The first BioShock allowed you to explore the downfall of the underwater society Rapture, but BioShock Infinite takes you to the skies – specificially the utopia of Colombia. As Booker DeWitt, a hired gun, you’ve been contracted to find Elizabeth, a mysterious girl locked up in a massive tower with a giant mechanical bird as a bodyguard. Just like BioShock had plasmids to amp up its first-person shooter combat, BioShock Infinite has vigors. Ranging from defensive with Return to Sender, which absorbs all damage and sends it hurling back at your enemy to the offensive with Charge, where Booker will slam into a specified opponent, you can mix up your play style throughout the game’s campaign.

There’s also a ton of titles on sale for both PS3 and PS Vita as part of our 14 for ’14 promotion including Crysis 3, Far Cry: Blood Dragon and The Wolf Among Us Season Pass, so check out all the deals below.

You can download BioShock Infinite after PlayStation Store updates tomorrow.

@HATR_HURTER: You make an excellent point. At first I was skeptical, but then I scrolled down to the bottom of the linked page and there was a counter reading 10 hours to go for Grid 2 despite it having left a week ago. If anything it should have said Galaga Legions DX, since that game is the one leaving the IGC tomorrow.

I realize it’s small consolation to you now, but in the future I wouldn’t rely on that page or e-mails to tell you what’s in the IGC. I would check these weekly Plus posts, Store Update posts, and check the actual store for what’s available and/or expiring soon if there’s money riding on it.

In the meantime, I would contact Sony support to make them aware of their mistake. Hopefully others can avoid going through the same hassle.

dude i swear these games better not suddenly disappear once Playstation Now comes along. we should be able to download these to our PS4 then.

at this point it’s great news for PS3 owners but for those of us who upgraded systems if we don’t get access to it then it just makes people feel shafted.

Looks like others have reported this already. This is really stupid. Advertising a Full Game Trial in a way that makes it look as if it’s still on the IGC is just bad business.

I don’t normally sympathize with complaints about the IGC, but people do come to rely on various official posts and advertisements around the net. Simply labeling things properly would build goodwill while saving your customers and staff a lot of headaches.

I would just import a 64gb from play-asia.com.
There is no region lock on anything PSVita so memory cards from other regions will work fine with systems from different regions.

http://www.play-asia.com/playstation-vita-memory-card-64gb-paOS-13-49-en-70-76ap.html?affiliate_id=320017

$111.99 with free shipping compared to the 32gb from amazon at a similar price.

awesome sale! here’s a question:

the blog said, and I quote – “As an added bonus, if you are a Sony Rewards member, you can earn 10x points when you purchase any game that is part of the 14 for ’14 sale through January 20th. Redeem your points for PlayStation Store cash, a PlayStation Plus subscription, games and more!”

Now, when will this credit be happening? Right away? At the end of the month? Do you have a day/date in mind? Please let me know, I am in dire (too strong?!) need of 100 points and I really need them NOW! (and, No! I can just purchase credit)

This is ridiculous! I just bought Rain and Walking Dead Vita at full price less than a month ago!! Now I found out I could have saved 80%?!

This really tempts me to NEVER buying a full priced Sony digital game again.

179

+ FeistFan on January 13th, 2014 at 4:23 pm said:

@ElektroDragon – I hear you. I hesitate to buy them when they’re this deeply discounted, because they turn up free a month or two later. I’m looking at the big discounts on Rain and Puppeteer and thinking…there’s the free games for March and/or April (Rain in April…April showers…yeah, that’s going to happen). It makes me nervous to pull the trigger even on great sales (made me SO happy I didn’t get the Ico or SoC deals a month or two before each was free).

The discounts and free stuff are awesome, but they re-use the same games over and over again. I’m pretty sure Enslaved has been on sale more than once or twice before. It will probably be free soon, too.

If they’re going to release a game as free, I’d like to see that free offer be the first time it’s discounted in the store – run your discounts after it leaves, for those that missed it or who aren’t in Plus any longer.

Otherwise, sales like these are what kept me as a PS+ subscriber for over two years. Very Steam-like! Thank you!

My recommendations from this list for those looking to get the most bang for their buck (assuming they’re Plus members, of course!)

-Spelunky for $3.75 Cross-buy = Insanely good deal. Everyone should own Spelunky. It’s one of the best games of the 21st century, and it’s incredibly addictive on the Vita in particular.

-Puppeteer for $7 = Worth every penny. I paid $20 and felt I underpaid for this wonderful, underappreciated game. Every PS3 owner should have this game. It’s one of the best games on the console.

-Enslaved: OTTW Premium for $5 = One of the best games you never played. It’s a futuristic take on the Monkey King legend (the same legend that inspired Dragonball) and it had a wonderful visual style and great writing.

-Tales of Xillia for $10 = A critical darling in Japan that is the true successor to the Tales JRPG series. Hours upon hours of stuff to do.

-Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon for $3.75 = The funniest, silliest, greatest neon-hued love letter to VHS tapes from the 1980s ever made. Oh, and it plays like a super-powered Far Cry 3, adding even more craziness to what was already a pretty savage game. And it’s a standalone title to boot!

195

+ secularsage on January 13th, 2014 at 6:16 pm said:

@The people who get annoyed that prices drop after they’ve bought a game:

Get over yourselves. You paid a fair price to support something you wanted. No one cheated you. And quite honestly, you helped support something that probably needed it anyhow. Your sacrifice may have helped pave the way for another great game from that developer.

Digital games go on sale on every platform out there (Steam, Origin, eShop, XBLA, PSN, etc) pretty much nonstop. If you want to hold out for the lowest price, wait for games to get down to 75%-80% off the list price and buy with confidence that you’re getting close to the bottom dollar price. Otherwise, stop your whining.

Un-freakin-believable!!! I’ve been playing Skyrim since mid-November and it’s nearly time for me to move on to my next game. I have such a huge back-catalog of PS3 and Vita games…and it’s only about to get bigger!

My definite purchases are:

PS3: Crysis 3 (wasn’t really on my list, but at $5?), Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Lone Survivor (can’t pass up the cross-buy), Puppeteer (the game I was waiting to go on sale, and the perfect price), Tales of Xillia (perfect price point for me, as I have never played a Tales game and probably wouldn’t without this sale), and Thomas Was Alone.

Vita: Killzone:Mercenary ($9?! Are you f#€%ing kiddin’ me?!), Pixeljunk Monsters ($4?! Are you…yeah, exactly!), Stealth Inc, and Velocity Ultra.

The “maybe” list includes: Rain (mediocre review scores vs. beautiful concept…opinions?) and The Wolf Among Us (waiting on Vita version, I think).

Well done, Playstation team!!!

OK so I am having issues with both Bioshock and Uncharted 3.
Bioshock ONLY shows to me as a time trial which just expired and Uncharted 3 downloads a tons of language packs, movies, and a multi and single player pack but I install the single player and it vanishes from my games list, taking up drive space but nowhere to be found.
I cannot seem to figure out what to do those files and Bioshock only shows to me as a trial, not full game when downloading?
Anyone else?

I’m new to Tales games too, I’m mostly an action/adventure gamer (uncharted, gow, prince of persia), and i bought TOX a few weeks after its release for $23, it’s not amazing but very fun and at that price is a steal.
And TOX 2 comes out this fall, so …
My only regret with these games is all the money you have to spend for customes, how you seen the Dead or alive prices? insane!!!!
So, i second other gamers, there are lots of DLC for hundreds of games, please give us some discounts
