  • Interesting. You have any idea why Final Fantasy VI, VII, and VIII were left out of the sale?

  • Great update, always wanted to try Smart As so I couldn’t be more thankful. The FF sale is a shame for real…all them are too expensive…but the only ones I have interest on are the Dissidia ones…already got them on PSP….everyone knows if they’re playable on Vita too?

Ethan Meteor Hunter will be mine.

  • @50 It does say discounts right above it

  • Not complete FF Sale, and especially not the best discount on FF X|V ARR, last month it was la 10$ for Standard and 15$ for CE.

Wanted FF VI VII VIII and Chrono Series, well … i’ll wait for Square Enix Big Sale for like up to 75% for PS+

  • Smart As is absolutely perfect for playstation plus. It’s a game I will spend plenty of time with, but not something I was likely to pick up on my own. Not to mention that the social leaderboards will benefit greatly from everyone owning the game. Great choice.

  • garbage sauce. discounting a ps one classic to the pricepoint every other publisher lists their ps one classics at isn’t really a discount as much as a temporary lapse in absurdity. and adding Smart As… to the Vita’s igc only serves to (falsely) communicate to would-be Vita consumers that there is a short supply of decent games. i’m sure many will enjoy this title, but brain trivia can hardly be described as a selling mechanism for a struggling hardware.

lastly, i am sure it is very difficult to secure a lot of these deals, and i am sure there is some back-and-forth with various publishers over igc arrangements, but can we get some consistency in when updates are posted, when months are previewed, and when the store updates?

  • @ 50 keyword “Discounts”

Also not a bad week but nothing for me can’t wait for the February IGC.

  • Oh, damm… it’s my error xD

  • 4 days left in the month and still no P+ February update?

  • What a miserable excuse for a sale from Square Enix.

You don’t offer all the games in the series, your discount rate is WORSE than the 25th anniversary sale (https://blog.playstation.com/2013/02/04/50-off-select-final-fantasy-games-for-the-series-25-year-anniversary/), and you don’t even give a proper discount rate for the original Dissidia, which is made virtually pointless to play now by Duodecim.

Is this how you want to treat your fans, especially given how generous you were in the most recent Steam winter sale?

  • Awesome Final Fantasy sale!!!

Now I can pick up the FF titles I don’t have already.

I’m so excited about Lightning Returns coming out and then Final Fantasy X HD the month after.

    Lots of FF love happening!

  • in the PS Store the games Dissidia and Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy are on the PSP session, so i want to know if i can play this games on PS Vita too…

  • Is the PS classics playable on the VITA?

  • cool, Smart As for free lol. I think you guys have given like every single vita game ever away for free or like $6 at this point haha gotta get another 32 gig card i guess xD

  • @62 most are, if you can’t download it directly to vita, download it to a ps3, and then transfer it. then play with the button mapping settings until you are comfortable.

  • @ buffpotato: psp go can also be hooked up to tv just like those other psp models.. I sometimes do that on the road in hotels for movies. ;)

On another note – I don’t understand why FFXIII-2 had a digital version on the PS Store BUT FFXIII does not?!

I Would really prefer a downloadable version I could play off of my HDD instead of a disc that creates more heat and wear on my Blu-Ray Drive. =/

  • I am a little disappointed in the absence of VI, VII, and VIII, the Final Fantasy games I most wanted to buy. I’ve actually been waiting nearly a year for this sale; I got my Vita in mid-February 2013, shortly after the Final Fantasy 25th anniversary sale. As at the time I also didn’t have a PS3, there was no reason for me to have bought any PSOne classics. I’ll keep an eye out for sales going forward, though I may pick up one of the games that are available in the mean time.

  • @ 1 @ 2 Smart As is a pretty fun game actually, and I would gladly take it over any of the multiple fighting games we got for free for the VITA. Those felt like a waste. As for the sales, that is a very good sale for DBZ, and a fun game for the VITA. Seeing as there is no splitscreen for the console versions, it makes no real difference except for resolution if you really care about that so much. $30 cheaper for the same thing…I’ll take the VITA sale please. Lastly, the Final Fantasy games are rarely one sale, and this is the first time FF III was on sale, which is awesome! Can complete my 1-9 VITA compatible collection now.

P.S.- I really wish Crisis Core was available digitally. Such a fantastic spin-off game from the main series, and in some ways, better than 7. Just don’t play it before 7. It will ruin everything! lol

  • Great week! Really glad the Final Fantasy sale made it in the US store, definitely getting XIII-2, as I also got my hands on XIII last week. I was really sorry I never got around to playing this series, glad I’ll get to now. Also picking up “Smart As…”, free PS Vita games are always welcome!

  • @maxharger,

They do have consistency. Store updates at 2pm on Tuesdays. The Monday morning PS+ posts highlights what is happening for PS+ for the store weekly (sales, content, etc.). The Friday of the last PS+ content post has a blog post about the next months PS+ content.

I know they have been all over the place on these before, but it’s been fairly solid for the last 6 months so far.

  • If you’re smart and want to get FF14 for ps4, pick it up discounted on ps3 and you’ll get the ps4 version for free.

  • Crisis Core is awesome! Really enjoy playing it on my PSP GO! ;) heh heh

  • Amen faraway! I thought the exact same thing!
A note to Square Enix: we want crisis core ff7 available digitally!! That was an awesome game!
I might pick up FF IV since it’s the only one I haven’t played out of the main series.

To answer those people: yes you can play these games on the Vita and don’t bother buying Dissidia. Dissidia duodecim has it when you unlock it by beating duodecim first.

    Happy gaming fellow PS fans!

  • @ Everyone who says Smart As is a bad game for the IGC. No it isn’t. It is a perfect game, cause not everyone owns it and it is pretty good. Giving games out that everyone owns in mass, regardless if they are good, like Bioshock: Infinite or Borderlands 2 is great! Except for that fact that they are so popular and widely received, that people may already have them. And it so happens in this case, cause I buy a lot of games that are on sale, that I already have Smart As cause it was like under $10 at some point for a sale. Idk…But it is a lot of fun. Good game to test your skills. If you don’t like it, fine. But try it out first. Stop making pre-determined based judgements. I try out every Plus game that I get for free at least once. Cause, maybe it will be an awesome game! Just give it a shot at least.

At least it wasn’t a game you already bought. (For those of you that didn’t play BL2 or Bioshock, they are great games, and I wish you lots of fun, cause they are amazing, and I do not fault SONY for adding them to PLUS. I just need to stop getting games so soon after release. :P )

  • Man, just when I thought I was safe from spending any money this week, now I’m going to get both FF 3 and 4.

Smart As is far better than people are giving it credit for. I have it physically, but have really slacked lately with doing the daily challenges. Having it digitally should change that. :)

  • Smart As was a game I was always interested in but no one I’d pay $20+ for, so I’m glad its hitting IGC.

Can anyone answer why FFI & FFII Anniversary is up on the EU Store but not US? Clearly isn’t because of legal issues (like Kingdom Hearts and Crisis Core).

Well if Enix ever gets around to putting up the PSP releases of FFI & FFII on PSN with Vita support it’ll be a day one purchase for me.

  • Some people in here need their diapers changed. Thanks for the free game Sony!

  • My favorite game ever for Vita!!! Thank you, Sony. Oh, man, so much win. I’m going to play for months!!!

  • @65
If FF 13 were to release digitally, the game itself would close to 40 GB.
Why do u think the 360 version of 13 is on 3 discs?

  • Being serious: I don’t know Jack about FF after VIII (my favorite one). I may buy one or two,

  • @51: Maybe because those are part of the Classics.

  • Also, did we skipped a whole week? Because the “Last Chance” section says 2/4. Tomorrow is 1/28. I wanna know because I didn’t download DmC, yet.

  • @ jonjon0890: True… I guess that would be a problem for most people. oh well :)

  • Hey Kristine Steimer, can you please talk to Square Enix to release the following games in the Brazilian PS Store?

    – Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions (PSP)
    – Vagrant Story (PSone Classics)
    – Xenogears (PSone Classics)
    – Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy Prologus (PSP)
-Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (PSP)

    Thanks in advance!

  • Awful Sale/Vita Game (vita games in general don’t pertain to me but that one just looks plain awful)
But we got Bioshock so i’m not going to complain too much. (Final Fantasy hasn’t been itself since FF9-FF10 so screw Square Equnix)

  • Man, I saw there was a Final Fantasy sale and got all excited to finally get Final Fantasy 6 and then I noticed it wasn’t included. :( Any reason why 6, 7 and 8 aren’t a part of the sale?

  • Sweet! Here I was last night looking at PSP games and was wondering if there will ever be a sale for FFIII and Dissidia Duodecim. Here we are next morning and this pops up… perfect!

  • Only had my Vita for about a month now but very disappointed in the ps+ free games
Smart As really? might be better to just cancel my ps+ at this rate

  • #88
If you bought plus just for free Vita games you probably should cancel, but if you own a PS3 than you’re stupid to cancel over VITA releases.

  • What about warthunder?

  • not into final fantasy at all. Ethan Meteor Hunter i got a few weeks ago on a non ps plus discount for 7$. .. Curve Studios Mega Bundle (Thomas Was Alone, Lone Survivor, Proteus and Stealth Inc) – $13.49 (PS+ Price), $14.99 (Regular Price) .. very good price for those who want those games but all them already just been on deep sale discounts. i also own all.

  • @drd7of14 and Gorvi
Exactly. It’s a shame that people are so quick to judge a game without even trying it first. I bought this when it first came out and it is quite a fun little game. That said I think it’s a good selection for the IGC, as it offers some variety and gives more people the chance to check out a game that may have been overlooked when it first released (after all it came out on the same day as both AC Liberation and Ragnarok Odyssey).

@Welmosca I can confirm that Dissidia Duodecim FF is indeed playable on vita

  • Is there any chance saints row 4 could come to the IGC?

  • Smart As… Is a great game! I’m glad other people who otherwise didn’t try it will be able to give it a try!
I really enjoy playing it and am happy to get the digital version for free!

  • People need to give Smart As… a chance. I already own a physical copy (bought on release day, too!) and I’m still really excited for it to come to PS+ just so I can download it and make it easier to get to daily :)

  • FINAL FANTASY Sale!!

  • Dissidia Duodecim works on the Vita and is one of the best games on the PSP, so I highly recommend it to anyone interested. You should also note that the DLC for the game (costumes and music) doeswork on teh Vita, but you need to use a sort of roundabout method to get it. You have to download it to your PS3 and then transfer it onto the Vita form there. (not sure if it works using the PC content manager or not). I don’t believe it can be downloaded directly to the Vita.

  • hey I was wondering is there any chance of some NHL Avatars you got NHL Themes but not avatars I noticed you got avatars for NBA, NFL but not NHL whys that?

  • Still no word on DLNA, MP3, headsets, you tube..ugh.

  • It shows final fantasy 3 as 8.99 on plus price i was wondering if thats a psp game or a psn game since I can’t get on the store right now due to maintenence and also do you know if lightning returns will have a digital copy that can be purchased I am interested in getting it from the online store instead of gamestop or somewhere like that
