It’s award season in the entertainment industry and the new film Dallas Buyers Club* is getting its fair share of attention. You won’t want to miss Matthew McConaughey’s Golden Globe winning performance for Best Actor in this uplifting and powerful film inspired by true events. Texas cowboy Ron Woodroof (McConaughey) sees his life overturned when he’s diagnosed as HIV-positive and given 30 days to live. • Oh, Whatever happen to MP3 Support on PS4 ):

  • Sadly my PS4, does not play CD’s or MP3’s i’,m sad ):

    • Hi Talegirl016 – thanks for your feedback on MP3 & DLNA support. We’ll share it with our PS4 Dev team for future considerations.

  • Dear Sony, Please allow us the option to use your PSN cards for Music Unlimited.

  • New episodes of Fairy Tail aren’t up today? Shame, guess it wouldn’t matter since I can watch past 72 on PS4 anyways. I think you guys need to make sure all future releases work day one on PS4. These kinda issues are my problem with PS4 and Vita. PSP and PS3 didn’t have so much compatibility issues

  • @Talesgirl016 at least your PS4 works. Mine died on me! But yeah, mp3 playback should have been Day 0 feature!

  • Any word on an update to the music unlimited app on ps4? I love the interface but end up having to use my ps3 or iPhone simply because it always has connection issues. It takes forever to load, will randomly crash or disconnect when switching songs. At least allow for offline play like on the vita and iPhone. Then I wouldn’t even care about MP3 support cause I’d just store my playlists from music unlimited.

  • Please continue to boycott Music Unlimited until Sony releases an update for the PS4 that allows it to support MP3, audio CDs, and DLNA.

The PS3 supports audio CDs, MP3, and DLNA – therefore the PS4 should do the same.

    • Hi JKar275– We completely respect your opinion, but here’s some good info. in case you’ve missed the previous news: http://bit.ly/1a8Qtip on how MP3 & DLNA may be included for future considerations. Our PS4 Dev team plan to look into it.

  • ULTRAVIOLET NEEDED!!

Please bring UltraViolet digital rights sharing to VideoUnlimited. If you do, I’ll use the service. Until you do, I’m going to continue ignoring the service and use services that provide better consumer value.

  • Dear Ms. Elina Chen:

Thank you very much for replying to my previous post!

I have been aware of Sony’s statements that they’re investigating on how to bring MP3 & DLNA support to the PS4.

However, these features should have been carefully planned & implemented for Day 1 release of the PS4. The absence of these features lead me to believe that Sony is trying to force PS4 owners to pay for a Music Unlimited subscription if they want to listen to music on the PS4.

This is a giant step backwards in terms of consumers’ choices for playing & listening to music on the PS4.

  • Thank you, Ms. Elina Chen for replying :)

  • kinda upset i didn’t get a ps4 hope i get it mabe on my birthday in May or in the summer its never to late to get a ps4 and i’m still working on my music unlimited(on me and my little brothers ps3 “REALLY” “MINES”)

  • Please include this service of music and video with PS+ and competition like hulu, Netflix and spotify go down. What we need is a service that includes all for one prices.

    You can do it Sony

  • First of all.
I find the offline elements of music unlimited to be superb. I use offline mode approximately 80-95% of the time.

I don’t listen online and only go online to update. Online listening is average at best, with frequent disconnects, interruptions and updates.

One should never interrupt a song, to update or otherwise. Please have your system wait until the current song is done. (duh)

Also I believe as some have stated already, allow an offline mode. That alone would make great strides in improving user experience.

Thanks, and happy Family Day weekend! 8)

  • Elina, Thank you for sharing that link. I am pretty amazed to read that Sony “didn’t even think about” MP3 or CD playback !! That shows a real disconnect between Sony devs and how the customers are using their PlayStations!

Also, the article mentions nothing about JPG. I take lots of photos, and I have thousands of JPG on my PS3. It’s a great way to view my photos after a nice 3 week vacation or fun camping trip. Its been a fantastic feature on my PS3.

MPEG support: I also record lots of action cam video when I ride mountain bikes. I come home and put the video on my PS3. It’s been GREAT!!

These are things I cannot do on a PS4.

  • Number 1. who’s Elina a gamer, #2.didn’t i just say that i’m work’n on music unlimited on my ps3 hmmm . . . . . . werid, i’m sure i was on here before. And finally number 3. SCoopat what do you mean about customers using there Playstations! You mean gamers using there playstations SCoopat!!!

  • I have spent a lot of time and money building my own music library. The library contains the music I most would like to listen to. Don’t try and force me to pay for a service that I don’t want or need.

I should be able to stream my music through my PS4. Its is perfectly capable of performing this task. Don’t let greed limit the usefulness of a product that can achieve GREATNESS.

  • I will not be buying or using any ps4 media services besides games until they bring BACK dlna and playback support. Sony you will continue to see comments like this from a majority of PSN users until it’s fixed. I will keep my PS3 indefinitely until the PS4 has this basic feature parity. Please don’t give me some “looking into it” it needs to be a “coming next patch” item. Going backwards here sony… I’ll use other devices for home entertainment till then.
