The Drop: New PlayStation Releases for February 11th, 2014

Ryan Clements's Avatar + Posted by Ryan Clements on Feb 09, 2014 // Social Media Specialist

The Drop

Strong, witty, and a little rough around the edges, Ellie from The Last of Us played a tremendous role in making the critically-acclaimed PS3 game shine. Her endearing dialogue and emotional connection with Joel provide The Last of Us with several layers of narrative. But there’s more of her story to be told.

This week on Friday, The Last of Us: Left Behind arrives on PS3. The DLC explores Ellie’s past, along with her connection with close friend and confidant, Riley. This additional chapter in the world of The Last of Us bestows gamers with intimate insight into defining moments of Ellie’s past.

But there’s more coming this week to the world of PlayStation. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII launches on PS3, concluding Lightning’s chapter in the long-running JRPG series. Lightning Returns features a large, open world, tons of sidequests, and an elaborate customization system that will let players design their ideal fighter.

For a complete list of games coming this week, read on. And enjoy the Drop!

Cool, Pac Man World. Hoping this and Cybersled are a sign of more Namco goodness on PSN (Tales of Destiny, klonoa 2, Ms Pac Man Maze Madness maybe?)

Also enjoying seeing more PS2 Classics. Blowout was a budget title but was ok. If they sell it for $5 it’ll be worth it. There’s an interesting story about it, apparently it was going to be a big game but the company that made it got bought out and they new owners forced them to rush it. Still an ok game, think sidescrolling Dead Space with less creepiness.

Pretty amazing Drop, though no PS4 =\. I’ll take Left Behind and some other PS+ Discounted stuff I guess.

25

+ StealthBlade98 on February 9th, 2014 at 10:17 am said:

Ok whoever decided to put those bundles together is really terrible: Bioshock Infinite was free 2 weeks ago for PSN+ which MOST people have now, thanks to Sony forcing it on PS4 users. Not to mention the fact the Borderlands 2 was also free several weeks ago on PSN+.

DIshonored should have been bundled with Max Payne 3 or Hitman Absolution. For skyrim that could have been bundled with Tomb Raider or some other game.

26

+ djsaiyan on February 9th, 2014 at 10:21 am said:

@25

They are retail bundles, so you’ll want to be directing your anger at Bethesda and Take-Two.

Hitman Absolution and Tomb Raider are Square-Enix. They are not involved in these retail bundles whatsoever.

27

+ StealthBlade98 on February 9th, 2014 at 10:26 am said:

It doesn’t matter, they’re still terrible bundles given the fact MOST people have Borderlands 2 and Bioshock Infinite now. They were JUST FREE for PSN+ users weeks ago. Did anyone think before making these bundles together? They know full well people have those games already. I would have liked DIshonored with something else than Borderlands 2 since I have both BL2, Skyrim and Now Infinite they’re literally a waste of money for most people.

28

+ ThumbsOfSteel74 on February 9th, 2014 at 10:33 am said:

@StealthBlade98:

Eh, not everyone gives a flying flip about the PS4. The PS3 has a lot of life left for many of us, especially those with huge backlogs. I think you’d be surprised just how few people actually downloaded those games, even among those who were Plus members at the time. These bundles are for all the others.

But I hear ya anyway. Coulda been games that weren’t offered to Plus recently.

A lot of stuff out this week. Glad to see classic titles yet again — and I’ve never heard of the PS2 game.

Looking forward to Danganronpa.

HEY! Sorry to be the one to break the illusion here but just wondering when are we going to have AAA games on the vita again? like gravity rush 2 and such… bc the vita its in a dire situation… not bc of the lack of games but the lack of triple AAA games… I’m tired of playing indie games… i didn’t buy this awesome piece of tech for 250 bucks just to play SNES caliber games… just letting u know.

Toukiden > another monster hunter clone instead of actually giving us MH which was the thing to save the psp…
(still probably gonna get toukiden…)

Danganrompa > if u are not into the anime u wouldn’t know about this….

Borderlands 2 > awesome that we are receiving this but its just another port and still dont even have a date.

FFX-X2 > awesome again but ANOTHER port.

Demon Gaze > JRPG nobody knows about and the gameplay looks really weird and doesn’t look like a AAA

thats it…. 5 games… sigh… sony still waiting for the vita year…hope u bring the big guns announcements with the entry of the vita slim…

Great line up this week, I’d buy most of it if I could, already getting lightning returns, Toukiden and danganronpa, as well as the Last of Us dlc from my season pass.

Huh, guess I already am buying most of it (if you take out the titles I already own).

Thank you for putting up mre Demos, BUT:

Will we EVER get more demos for the PS4???????

Also is the bundled skyrim the new legendary version, or the old vanilla?

Forgot to add, if the demo is any good/the game is what I expect it to be I’ll be buying Farcry Classic as well.

Now to find out where the local soup kitchen and food stamps are cause this week’s gonna break my bank account.
