PlayStation Plus: Payday 2 Free for Members

Heads up, PlayStation Plus members. It’s time for some serious shenanigans – Payday 2 is coming to the Instant Game Collection tomorrow. Team up with your friends to pull off a variety of heists, like robbing a convenience store or taking down a major bank vault. Completing these virtual crimes will net you both experience points to build out your character’s skill tree and cash to purchase new weapons and other goodies. For PS Vita owners, our final PS Vita PLAY title, TxK, will be available tomorrow at a discounted rate.

You can download Payday 2 after the PlayStation Store updates tomorrow.

Yeah, I also look forward to the sales a lot. The free games this month are just not for me, but that’s okay, I’m sure there are others going crazy for them. For next month, I hope we get more 2D stuff.

O GUYS REALLY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!

I advise you guys to download the Trail now. Not only will this game take time to download and install but there is an update that is the same amount of Gigs as the game. If you want to start playing immediately download the trail and when it install play the game that will trigger the update, wait for the update to download and install then you can have your 1 hour head start. When the PStore updates you can start the game automatically through the XMB. Hope this helps. Cheers.

yaaaay just gotta grab TXK then wait for my 10 bucks back :) ps vita play sale was a gooder! Ollie Ollie is severly addictive, the new dragonball is starting to make my brain hurt (workin towards all Z ranks…….. :( ), dust force is weird but kick ass (old vacuum ninja dude is cool :P ) and now to see how this other game is. never did play the Payday games so that should be fun. well sony, keep pumpin out the stuff and ill keep my job to give you guys all my money :)

Thank you to everyone involved for bringing us another week of playstation plus, and another blog post informing me of what’s going down with plus this time around.

I always enjoyed the heist missions in GTA games, so I’m interested to see if Payday 2 can take that to the next level. Played the demo for Blood Knights with my girlfriend sometime last year… it was decent enough to provoke our interest in seeing where the game goes with its puzzle/co-op elements, so I might jump on this discount.

I was lucky enough to get a review code for TxK. I’ve been a Llamasoft fan since the c64 days.
I’m currently 4th on the leaderboard at 1197850.
It’s an amazing game.

TxK is one of those arcade games where you can find your rhythm and just keep going, lost in the game. A slave to the audio/video landscape. Tempest 2000 came close, but thanks to the contrast and brightness of the Vita’s OLED screen and a good pair of headphones you can step into the game; everything else around you becoming a blur. You feel as if you are traveling deeper into the tunnel with your onscreen avatar. This effect is increased with echoes deeper enemies make when shot.

To Sony:

I hate how Sony treats VITA.
Really, why VITA games are the last ones at PS Plus?
I think it will only be an acessory to PS4 in the future or a PS NOW device.
I cant se a good reason to keep mine.
So much power and potencial..
But its not only Sony’s fault.

To developers:

Developers ruined it too.

Look at Call of Duty on Vita.
It was a first great name game of FPS and they ruined it.
Vita lost lots of power cuz of mediocre games.
Sony is doing good, but we need some AAA games to help the sells.

Why dont we have some AAA games of quality, like God of War, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Bioshock, GTA.. we need great games in order to sell the system.
Just look at the PSP.
Vita was made for Hardcore gamers that want to play on the go.
We dont want mobile games of $0,99.
We want to play hardcore on the go, please, understand that.

We have cellphones to play games of $0,99.
Everybody have a cellphone, but not everybody have a VITA.
Those who bought Vita want hardcore games on it, and mobile games on phones.

I’m very excited for Payday2. I’d love to squad up with a few of you duders. Thank you PsPlus team for Outlast, Metro: Last Light, and DmC, all great games that I had not played yet and recent examples of why I champion your subscription service. I also noticed that Poker Night 2 was leaving IGC. I would have really liked Poker Night 2 but I could not play a single game of poker to entirety without the game breaking on me. I was so disappointed in Telltale for releasing a version with those problems. I was then immediately disappointed in the PsPlus team for allowing a broken game into IGC as well. Fortunately I have only had that experience once, but it is a cautionary memory that causes me to reign in my excitement for games on IGC since then. I hope I don’t get let down again.

The Asia PSN store is going to run a The Last of Us 50% sale this Friday to celebrate the release of Left Behind DLC. Regular price is around US$45. (I hope I read it correctly cos the blog was a bit vague. I think it does mean the full game at 50%, not the DLC. The Asia blog is often full of wrong info though.)

This is the once-in-a-blue-moon case, cos normally Asia store sucks very badly in contents, prices and discounts. Well, actually it’s still bad, cos the same Asia PSN store ran a (terrible, lame, what-were-they-thinking!) Chinese New Year sale less than 2 weeks ago where The Last of Us was going at about 8% discount. Pity those who bought it just 10 days earlier.

Is the US store planning something too? Maybe a zombies/survival flash sale with deep discount on TLoU? Or a Naughty Dog catalog sale?

Vita’s birthday is a little under 2 weeks away. I am hoping for a big ol sale coming soon maybe even a refresh of the evergreen IGC titles all I want is (Persona4G. ) I love plus and all it’s done for my backlog.

@29: What? Nope. That is Sony’s fault. Look at the 3DS. Many games are produce by Nintendo. They support their own handle. Sony doesn’t really care about the Vita. Developers do what they can do.

Sweet. Thanks for the heads up on these. Just purchased The Lego Movie Videogame for PS Vita in the PSN Store because at Best Buy they didnt have the Vita version. They had every other version except for Vita. So far, I like it. I already knew what to expect seeing how for some reason the developers wont just port the console version over to Vita, but port the “other handheld” version over.

But still, I am enjoying it. On top of that, I still have to finish Gravity Rush, Escape Plan, and so many more goodies that I have received by being a PS Plus member. Also, I had to go get a blast from the past as I like to call it – LocoRoco Midnight Carnival. Great game and always have loved the LocoRoco Series. Would love to see either a PS4 LocoRoco game or even a brand new Vita one – that would be awesomesauce with extra cheese

@29 and @35: I think that is does suck that Vita games are last on plus. Not everyone owns a PS3 OR PS4. For those who own only a Vita, I can imagine having to wait until the end of the month is not good. I feel that the Vita can be very strong. It has been documented that sales for the Vita have gone up since the release of the PS4 (remote play). Now that more people have a Vita, the developers know that there are potential customers ready to buy AAA games. I agree with @35, Sony needs to step up and make quality games for their system as well. If they make good games, people will buy them. That can also encourage 3rd party devs to make games. It is just a theory…

I will try out payday, but I can’t wait for remember me. Plus I hope there could be more discounts next week like star hawk or any other great games. I was a member since march 2013 so I didn’t get my hands on star hawk when it was free. Keep with the good work Sony

A quiet week for PS+ this week. Probably the smallest update I have seen so far. But, Payday 2 IS one of the games I was looking forward to this month. My subscription more than paid for itself just in January, so I am okay with February starting off a bit more slowly. When SFxT hits the IGC, it will be worth the wait.

I already have that game on PS3, and had originally purchased a physical copy of it for the Vita, so it will be nice to have access to it again.

It’s crazy how having a PS+ subscription has literally compelled me to purchase multiple copies of the same game. Whenever a game I own on disc gets an insane discount on the PSN, I immediately go and trade in the physical copy at GameStop, and buy the digital version instead.

Oh yes thanks for Payday 2,I didn’t even had time to play the demo yet and you guys are giving it for free,ha thats extraordinaire….this was a great choice for the IGC….will spare me to buy the retail version.Though if the game is too good…I’ll have to get the disc anyway…Whatever…I may get Draw Slasher for that lil price….anyone recommends it?

I have a question as an existing PS+ member who does not want to loose access to the vast library of free games come subscription renewal time.

How can I view my PS+ status’ start/end dates?

How can I ensure auto renew is enabled so I don’t have a lapse in service?

I played Payday 2 a while back, and I didn’t have much interest in it. The other discounts also seem rather unremarkable. Oh well, this will be a money-saving week for me.
