The best-ever version of the smash hit Dead Nation is making its way to PS4 next week on March 4th. Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition will be available on PlayStation Store for $14.99 and PlayStation Plus members will be able to download it as part of their Instant Game Collection.
Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition is a top-down shoot ’em up, set in an apocalyptic, zombie-infested world. It comes from the talented developer Housemarque, famous for the Super Stardust series, and more recently the critically acclaimed Resogun.
Dead Nation features a full campaign mode, which can be played solo or co-op (either online or local).
Exclusively available on PS4, Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition features numerous enhancements, making it the best version yet. You can now play in full 1080p HD, with improved textures, rendering, and effects — Dead Nation has never looked better. We also improved the controls, adding in a quick weapon select so your favorite zombie decimator is never out of reach.
The Road to Devastation expansion is now included in the main game, giving you two extra game modes — Arcade and Endless — allowing you to test yourself against ever increasing odds. And with support for the official PlayStation companion app, all you completionists out there now have a second screen to monitor your game stats as you play.
One of the new features in Apocalypse Edition, which you may have spotted in the trailer, is Challenge mode; every time you finish a single level, you can now send your score over to a friend to try and beat. When playing a challenge you can see the avatar of the player who set the challenge, allowing you to race against them or scope out their high-scoring route. What’s that I hear you say? “What if your friends are no match for your zombie decapitating skills?” Well, how about you take on the challenge of any leaderboard entry, for any single level, made by any player?
My favorite new feature is Broadcast+ mode. In this mode, you can stream your game to the masses interactively, and your viewers can influence the difficulty of your game. Periodically all your viewers, whether they be on PS4 or a web browser, have the option to vote between a positive and negative effect that occurs in your game. There are a total of 30 different voting effects that can occur, ranging from spawning zombie packs to giving the player ammo, or even disabling the player’s ability to sprint. But don’t worry; as a player you can get back at the masses, because voters will appear in your game as named zombies for you to exact your revenge on.

Developing games for VITA is just not profitable unless you develop casual games you can find on mobile phones or DS. Or games with no high end graphics but then why release a VITA. in first place? The DS sells because you can put out more games for it easily.
This is the bottleneck of a handheld with decent hardware capabilities. You need to charge as much for a game as a console game to make good profit.
I love the VITA for the games I’ve enjoyed and might enjoy in the future but you can’t expect AA game output like you will find on a console unless you get millions of owners to pay as much for a game as the console version.
No point to buy a vita if all they have is indie games on it
So the PS4 version, which you just announced will come out waaaaay before the PS Vita, which was announced last year?

It sounds like broadcast+ requires the share button. I really can’t believe there’s no option to allow a sub account to use the share button or make a sub account a master account.
What about the current leaderboards in the PS3 version? Will everything stay the same? Or will the PS4 and PS3 leaderboards be separate?
They should be the same. Those billions of kills took years. Starting over would be disappointing.

Don’t know if you’re answering questions – but if playing local co op do BOTH players unlock trophies? This has been remarkably inconsistent with games this far on PS4.

On March 4th Dead Nations most certainly will be welcomed by PlayStation Plus PS4 subscribers either for it’s single or co-op play offline improved visuals and gameplay and/or it’s online experience. Also going to be fun playing it on my PSVita via Remote Play.

Three months of great free games and now this?!?!?! A port of an old game!!!! Sony couldn’t find anything better? Well I’ll just be waiting for Infamous.

He didn’t complain about why Vita lacks an exclusive Resident Evil, he’s complaining about why a port that was announced for Vita in June of 2013 has gone completely MIA and a port of a PS4 version launches before we even get a screen for the handheld one. Dead Nation isn’t some AAA game. It’s a four year old PSN game. The complete silence, and then launching a different port is an insult to Vita owners.

The only thing that sucked about DN was that you couldn’t keep your weapons after starting a new game. Is it still going to show wich country has slayed the most monsters?
Played and finished already a couple of times, but this is awful it is not a cross buy with PS3. My guess you are going to this cross buy with a PSV version, but hey whatever. Already played enough, give us Dead Nation 2 already! C’mon Sony, assemble a team to create this title, it may even be in pre-production by now, but u may scratched to 0 this project. This is gonna be a shame.
Not happy with this as the March PS+ game at all. Already played it for free on ps3 and didn’t like it.
So I am not going renew my PS+ subscription until april, and skip this one altogether.

Seems fun. Atleast its not Contrast.. IMO that game was terrible lol. Can you play co-op offline? Better be, seems like a game made for that. Also I can’t wait for the PS plus version of Drive Club..
