Preview March’s Instant Game Collection

Let’s take a look at what you’re going to get in March with your PlayStation Plus membership. To start, PlayStation 4 owners can enjoy the Apocalypse Edition of the critically acclaimed PS3 twin-stick zombie shooter, Dead Nation. The PS4 version includes updated visuals and controls, as well as a sweet interactive broadcast mode, so hit that “Share” button when you start playing!

PS3 owners get Tomb Raider, one of last year’s most praised titles. This reboot showcases Lara’s transformation from a recent anthropology graduate to a battle-hardened adventurer as her expedition crashes on a mysterious island. You’ll hunt animals, upgrade weapons and choose perks to increase Lara’s chances of survival.

Also on PS3: Thomas Was Alone, an adorable puzzle platformer that showcases the camaraderie of artificial intelligences depicted as various shapes, and Lone Survivor: Director’s Cut, a 2D adventure style survival horror game. Bonus! Thomas Was Alone and Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut are Cross-Buy titles, so you’ll get both the PS3 and PS Vita versions of those games.

For PS Vita this month, you get Unit 13: a third-person mission-based shooter where you’ll need to complete specified objectives, like staying in stealth or completing levels as quickly as possible. Then there’s Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite, a massive experience where you can — you guessed it — kill monsters, and then use their body parts to craft new weapons & armor to take down bigger baddies.

  • 2 more vita games sweet! I just need that 64 gig memory card to come to the states!

  • Even ‘tho I like the list, putting stuff for free now that was on sale a couple weeks ago is a shameful move, Playstation :\

  • Eh, ok month I guess. I already played Tomb Raider, so the only thing I’d be interested in is Monster Hunter as I’ve never played that series. I don’t really care about the rest of the list.

  • woooooooooooooo

  • Wow! This is an awesome month for Vita owners. It comes out to 3 Vita titles and a PSP game. I don’t even mind that I already own two of the games. Looking forward to trying my first Monster Hunter game and I’ve been curious about Unit 13 as well. It’s been a great year so far between plus games and the awesome sales. Keep up the good work.

  • Good Lineup, I own majority of them though lol

  • Ah, if only I had waited, I could have had Unit 13 for free :). I’m doing well though since that’s the first time it’s happened to me (where I go, shoot, I already got it). Great and very underrated game honestly. Hopefully this will get more people to try it.

And, Yay Tomb Raider. I was going to wait until the PS4 edition got cheap enough but for free I’ll just play the non definitive version. I’m curious about the game but so far haven’t been curious enough to buy it (I also waited on the PS3 version til I heard there was going to be a definitive PS4 version) so this is probably better anyways.

  • Kristine, Morgan, and all the wonderful people on the Plus team, nice job! Metal Gear: GZ is coming up– any chance of a discount on previous PS3/Vita MGS titles?

  • Jeez…this month is a good month to be a Plus member, apparently. Six games, and I only own two (Unit 13 and Tomb Raider). I’m wondering, though…does Dead Nation have couch co-op, or just online? It would just make my little girl dreams if this game was one I could add to my collection and pull my husband into. There’s a shortage of splitscreen co-op these days. Anyway…awesome update! I’m really looking forward to playing…well…everything! :)

  • thanks for unit 13 :)
    don’t care about psp game

  • And on the PSP games for Vita, I’d rather have a good PSP game offered than a crappy Vita game offered. Basically I’d rather they worry about quality of game than if it is for Vita or PSP.

  • when is the release of dead nation for ps vita ?

  • Seriously why they sold tomb raider for x-mas if they were gonna give it free 3 months later……
    Should bought deadpool instead.
Not happy birthday for me in march….

  • Unit 13 for Vita! So glad I didn’t buy that game and waited, I knew it would eventually come to North America PS Plus. So glad my patience paid off. I can’t wait to play Dead Nation on PS4 too… sadly I have to actually find a PS4 that isn’t sold out.

  • Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite
    Arigatou gozaimasu

  • Tomb Raider and Monster Hunter thank you so much

  • its funny that little jpeg next to monster hunter includes a monster only found in frontier. espinas is not available in MHFU.
great line up though, it will convince the few friends who dont hav those games to join.

  • Oh whoa ho…

What a great mix of AAA and indies.

Even though I got Tom Raider on PC, I don’t mind jumping into the PlayStation version for some sweet trophy hunting.

Thomas Alone, now that’s another tasteful indie game, or so I hear.

Lone Survivor is another indie game that I was itching to try out,

and finally, I played the crap out of Monster Hunter Freedom unite (on launch day) on PSP, and I cannot recommend the game enough.

Gonna be a sweet sweet March, thanks to you PS!

  • Shooter heavy, but a good choice of highly reviewed games.

A RPG for Vita, so yea me.

  • WOW- March has a great PS Plus lineup. Sony is the place for gamers.

  • Lone Survivor: Director’s Cut & Thomas Was Alone were on sale in January of this year, when I purchased them.

I thought you guys said you were going to stop putting games on sale then months later adding them to instant game collection?

I’m still having problems purchasing games through the PC store. Is the PC store every going to be fixed?

  • Fantastic line up!

As an owner of a PS3, I have to say that the games offered ever since the year started are great, I couldn’t download some of them yet, so my backlog just keep growing and growing :D

I haven’t played TR, so it will be well received :D I’m curious about the other two games, I’ll certainly give them a try.

Keep up the good work! Thanks ^^

  • perfect :)

  • OMG…. I am so excited about Dead Nation !! and Tomb raider Rocks!

  • I want Tomb Raider for PS4

  • Hey Kristine? No video this time, also I miss hearing your great voice! Also I don’t have any of these games great month again great month bleep up the great work!

  • Looks like I’m getting Tomb Raider.

  • Wow many tnx for Unit 13

  • Incredible month! I haven’t played any of these games, and a game I want to play on each of the systems too!

  • So glad I sold my copy of Tomb Raider for PS4 last week… great game, but dam if I would have known, I would have saved some money.

But Monster Hunter???! AWESOME GAME! Can’t wait!

  • Btw, where is that girl’s video that she explains the games? I actually find it very pleasing to listen/watch!

  • Wow, a great collection of games, and I’m not complaining, but sometimes the decision making on what games get into PS Plus gets pretty confusing. I was planning on getting Tomb Raider on PS4 pretty soon, but now I’ll have the PS3 version for free instead. It seems to me that the number of people who will now get the game for free on PS Plus will decide not to get the PS4 edition, and it would cut out a lot of sales of the PS4 version. I wonder what kind of financial incentive the developers get from Sony to make it worthwhile to give out their game for free, when they just released a new edition about a month ago?

Anyway, it’s definitely cool to get it for free. I’m still tempted by the PS4 version, just to get something pretty to play on PS4 for awhile.

Thanks for including Unit 13 too – it’s one of those older Vita games that I was on the fence about – usually it pays off to wait to get those ones for free on PS Plus eventually!

  • Pretty decent month. I have my issues with Tomb Raider, but it’s worthy of another play through. Thomas Was Alone is meh for me. Lone Survivor is rad. Have it on my PC. Gonna enjoy it on PS3 as well. Vita games are kind of lacking. I probably won’t pick up either because I have Killzone and Toukiden to fill their roles.

  • Simply amazing!! Sony never seams to disappoint with the PS Plus hookups…..

    LOVE IT!!

  • Alright! Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite! I really wish Capcom would make one for PS4 or PS3. Really great month!

  • I may play Tomb Raider again. Rather weak month compared to February, but whatever. My PS Plus subscription has already paid for itself and then some.

  • NOOOOOOOO!!!! this is getting ridiculous! WHERE IS MERCENARY KINGS!???????????????????????????

  • The screenshot you show us was taken from Monster Hunter Frontier NOT Monster Hunter Freedom Unite

The monster in the screenshot was Espinas who only appearances in the Frontier.

  • It’s a nice lineup, except for the fact that once again, it is composed by titles that were on sale some times before. I’ve got them all with some nice discounts. But the fact that some of they are cross buy, are definitely a good thing.

  • Wow what a month! Good games to play!!

  • Lone Survivor: Director’s Cut & Thomas Was Alone were on sale in January of this year, when I purchased them.
I thought you guys said you were going to stop putting games on sale then months later adding them to instant game collection?

  • Nooooo, I just finished Tomb Raider a couple weeks ago….what’s the chances of that? Clearly better than I ever though. Oh well, I get 3 other games…..no vita over here. Let’s hope for some awesome sales to make up for the fact that I don’t need the big title.

  • Those VITA games! WOOT

  • We better get Drive Club next month, just saying!!!!

Dead Nation kinda sucks, as I already got it for free three years ago during the Great PS depression.

Sure some new comers will get some fun, but us old schoolers will be playing a game we already got our kicks out of.

  • First Dead Nation of PS4 came out of no where. Last year E3 it was advertise that Dead Nation will come to Vita where did the PS4 version come from

and 2nd. Did anyone take into account that we have no preview video for the march lineup. Ms. Steimer where are you we love to hear your voice.

  • This is why my Xbox is just gathering dust. Thank you for bringing great games every month :)

  • I was reading through the comments and I’d just like to say that I’m getting kind of tired of hearing people complain about having PSP games added to the IGC. Myself and many others still own our PSPs and I think it’s great that it still gets some love. The IGC has always been advertised as one service for every Sony platform, so why exactly should the PSP be left out? Sure, they advertise them as Vita games, but so what? They’re perfectly playable on the Vita, so I have no problem with that. I don’t plan on buying a Vita OR a PS4 anytime soon (nor do many others) so having something for literally everyone should never be considered a negative.

  • I’ve come to the conclusion that Sony wants every xbox fanboy to cry a sweet river of tears!

My god thank you for the awesome huge free games month after month!

  • Wow, awesome update! I’ve always wanted to play the Tomb Raider reboot, but I’ve never had the heart to pick it up because I didn’t want to see all the ways Lara can die if you fail QTEs and such. But looks like that paid off in the end, since now I get to try it for free! If I like it enough, I may even pick up the definitive edition!
