I think the best way to start off any new month is with two free PlayStation Plus games. For March we have Dead Nation: Apocalpyse Edition for your PlayStation 4 and Tomb Raider for your PlayStation 3. If you’re unfamiliar with the original Dead Nation, it’s a top-down twin-stick shooter that’s best experienced with a friend. Make sure you’ve got a strategy and plenty of items before you head out to take down hordes of zombies. The Apocalypse Edition was just announced last week, will be hitting PlayStation Store tomorrow, and it has some interesting benefits like an interactive live streaming option.
Then we have last year’s critically acclaimed reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise. Witness Lara’s growth from young archeologist to bad-ass adventurer as her expedition gets shipwrecked on a mysterious island. Lara has to do a lot to survive, including live through several impalings, explore her surroundings and hunt wildlife.

Great games guys! Dont want to be a jerk or anything, but you know what would be awesome? If you guys could release old games like Skyrim, you know? Games from 2009/10/11 or games that where free once!
These would be great for newcomers. Is also good to remember that not because is newer is better! Sometimes older games are the best ;)

Im plus i cant download dead nation from my ps4 :s help!
Dead Nation at first it wouldn’t let me get for free, then I wouldn’t let me download it. Now it says I can’t play it because I don’t have ps+ lol wow how can they mess up this one I have 890 days left on ps+.

There’s a certain individual who frequents this blog who never does anything but insult other users, and for the good of the community, we’d be better off without his “wisdom” and “insight”. I spent hours one day trying to find some way to contact a moderator on this blog, with no success. Next time, I have an avenue to report this person. Hopefully he will stop being a jerk, but, I doubt that will ever happen.
So glad I got 12 months of PS+! These “Free” games are the best!

I agree. We should be allowed to freely disrespect Sony and indie developers on their own blogs whenever we want to without having to deal with any repercussions. And we should be protected from those who would rightfully correct us, because, you know, it’s embarrassing to have a spotlight put on our distasteful behavior. We should receive preferential treatment to attack as we please without suffering from anyone condemning our inappropriate and unnecessary comments in return. Because… we’re… uhh… special? I guess? Yeah, I think I’ll go with “special”. That sounds good.
I, too, will use that link from now on anytime a certain self-exalting narcissist chooses to recklessly throw around insults at people who haven’t done him any harm. Especially when he attacks the very people who are contributing to this industry much more than he could ever hope to.
I sincerely hope that certain shameless self-promoter can get his jealousy disorder under control one day. But, I doubt that will ever happen.

Tomb Raider was a FANTASTIC game, and completely deserving of the acclaim it received. As far as Action-Adventure games go, while I prefer Uncharted’s story-telling and characters more, I felt the combat system in Tomb Raider was superior. Even though I’ve played through it already, I plan to re-play it again and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet. Plus, thanks to PS Plus, it’s FREE! So there’s no excuse to not try out this gem of a game now.

PlayStation Plus is the best investment i’ve made. I’m definately downloading Tomb Raider tonight.
Welp, Dead Nation PS4 has been a bust, so far.
1) PSN page showed it was free to Plus. Pressed buttons to buy, got charged 14.99. Called Sony, supposedly getting a refund. We’ll see…
2) Crashes 100% of the time after the first campaign level when trying to contact the online servers. Upon return, it corrupts your save. Enjoy replaying the first level over and over until it’s fixed, I guess?
Was disappointed that PS4’s Plus game for March was a rehash of a so-so PS3 game from 4 years ago. Then tried to be optimistic and gave it a(nother) fair shake. Now I’m back to being grumpy about the whole situation.

ok im really getting fed up here. i love dead nation but this is a game i got free when the ps3 was hacked and you guys offered free games, that was like 3 or 4 YEARS ago. now were getting it on ps4? when is ps4 going to start giving us games that arent already made years ago on pc and ps3?
also it would be nice if i quit getting the blue screen, everytime i beat a level on dead nation i get blue screened.
i have to say this system is one of the most biggest letdowns to me in 30 years of gaming to be honest. this thing is ridiculed with bugs! and i dunno why, you guys left half the features out that the ps3 had. this empty shell should be running smooth.

@RANDALD89: Yes, all games in the monthly Plus preview will be free. Just not all at once. This post lists the ones that will be free starting this week. The others will join the IGC 1-2 at a time each week throughout the month. They’re announced on Monday, and they’ll be free to download late in the day on Tuesday. Same every week.
For those having trouble with games not showing up as free: First of all, slow down. Let each page fully load, especially on the web store. Don’t click “confirm purchase” if it’s supposed to be free this week. It should have a button that says “download.”
If it’s been hours/days since the store updated and it’s still not showing up as free: Add a few random items to your cart. Add the free game. Remove the unwanted items. Your game should now show as free to Plus.
Now, should it all work better than this? Of course. Should all of these special instructions and workarounds be necessary? Nope. But they sometimes are. Hope this helps someone.

How do i get this free game on PS4?
It’s now the 5th here (UK) and the only game its offering me is Outlast.
It’s subjective, of course, but this is the first month in a while that I haven’t been too excited about PS Plus. Tomb Raider is much appreciated, but I liked the “two major and one indie per month” formula better. Frankly, too many indies are puzzlers, and I hate puzzlers because I’m awful at them :-)
Since I couldn’t make up my mind as to whether I should buy Need For Speed Most Wanted for the PS3 or the PS Vita, I just bought both.
Ten bucks, total? Even if they both suck, that’s a risk I am willing to take.
A shame that it isn’t Cross-Play, though, if it can’t be Cross-Buy.
I tried december for the first time and it was awesome, now I have a year of PS+ and omg so much value! I can’t wait to get home and play Tomb Raider!! And because of the comments, I’ll try Dead Nation as well on my PS4! Loving you Sony!

Just got Dead Nation, but when I try to play with a friend, no matter who creates the game, the other receive the following message: This Game Is No Longer Available
I was a little apprehensive about the fact that I needed a Plus account for my PS4…. but then I realized I was an idiot for not having it on my PS3 all those years! Soooo many good games I want to play and they are free!
I was going to purchase Tomb Raider for my PS4….. but now that it’s free on PS3 I am torn… I don’t know what to do ;-; Has anyone played both the PS3 and PS4 versions? Aside from the graphics, are there any further benefits?
OH! One other question which may sound silly… but – Can you earn separate trophies for the PS3 and PS4 versions?

@Shazamkaykay: There’s a weekly schedule for the IGC, with games being added 1-2 per week when the store updates. It’s not like the EU where everything shows up at the start of the month. Vita games are generally added during the later weeks of each month.
The store always updates on Tuesday. These Plus posts telling us what will be added during the week show up every Monday. So check back every week to find out when your game will be added. :)
