CounterSpy Coming to PS4 This Summer

Hello friends. Things have been quiet on the home front here at Dynamighty in the last few months. The truth is we’ve been quietly working hard to make CounterSpy as awesome as it can be. In the world of espionage, this is known as being Deep Undercover.

Well, all our diabolical plans are finally falling into place, and we have some exciting news to share. When we partnered with PlayStation, PS4 was but a fantastical dream of uber console heaven somewhere off in the future. We originally announced that CounterSpy was coming to PS3 and PS Vita.

Since the PS4 launch, we’ve had a steady stream of requests from people as to when or if we would be releasing on PlayStation’s new hardware. We’re thrilled to declassify this information and officially confirm that, yes, CounterSpy WILL be launching on PS4 this Summer.

We’ve been eagerly working with PS4 now. I think the extra power of the system is going to open up some really nice possibilities for us. At the same time, we remain committed to PS3 and PS Vita (the game is looking great on both those platforms).

One of the features that we think you’ll like is the ability to link the mobile version of CounterSpy with the PS4, PS3 or PS Vita version to share progress across all devices. Certain intelligence that you gather gets shared across the devices, so for example you can unlock weapons on your console that are then available on your mobile device.

For those who expressed support and passion from the game since our announcement last year (and those finding us for the first time), THANK YOU. We look forward to sharing more in the weeks ahead.

For a peek behind the development curtain at Dynamighty, we’ll be posting a series of weekly development updates on our blog. You can also follow us at @dynamighty.

Stay tuned!

  • I’m excited about this game for the art style and vibe, and it’s DEFINITELY appreciated to have a PS4 version coming, but I’d really just like to see the actual gameplay. As I get older (and probably more jaded) I find trailers that don’t directly show me how the game actually plays kind of worthless. I want to see what I’ll be playing. The screenshots look nice but still leave a lot to be desired.

Anyway, sorry, I’m just really excited to get this in my hands for myself.

    • Hey whatisdelicious thanks for the feedback on the trailer. We will definitely share more on gameplay in the future!

  • I’ve been looking forward to this game since it was first anounced. If it’s half as good as it looks I’ll be twice as happy as a pig in mud (that’s what the cool kids say, I think)

  • So glad to hear this is still happening! I hope the Vita version won’t suffer because of the PS4 version now.

    I love the mix of 2.5D and 3D gameplay – a 2.75D side-scroller if you will.

The only thing that I’d like to request is a demo. As excited as I was when it was first unveiled, I read some rather harsh “first impressions” that have me a bit worried.

    • XClayMeow the game looks REALLY nice on Vita. It’s a great little machine and we’ve been developing for it for a while, so pretty confident about how it will look. The Vita controls are super nice too :)

  • So great to hear a spectacular game making its way to PS Vita as well. This is the originality the platform needs and for those that were saying where are the games on the PS Vita. They should start reading more because the great games are incoming!!!!!!!!

    • Agreed! So many great games on Vita these days. It’s become my go to platform for my daily commute to and from work! (to be clear I ride public transport I do not drive!)

  • @3: The devs tweeted about the negative impessions, so I’m sure they took it to heart and improved since.

    • Hi Elvick,
We’ve had a lot of time since the game was last shown to work on the game experience. Games go through a lot of changes over the course of development and often time, that polish time at the end of a project is when the true magic happens.
We are fully in that phase now and its been nice to see all the pieces come together!

  • Great to know it’s coming to PS4. I have a Vita and PS3 and planned to buy and play this on my Vita but I would prefer this on my PS4. Thanks guys! Can’t wait to get my hands on it.

  • From the trailer: “when super powers collide”. “Super powers” as in countries with dominating military power and global influence or “super powers” as in DC and Marvel? (Mind reading, Jedi mind trick, invisibility?)

Is this an action game, platforming game, stealth game, Civilization game, strategy, simulation, point-and-click adventure, board game…?

“C.O.U.N.T.E.R. jumps into action, stealthily sabotaging their dastardly plans and deceptively maintaining world peace”… is that more jumping or more action or more stealth or more deceptive chess play? :D

    • Hey GummyCore, it’s definitely SUPERPOWERS in the sense of global military power. We like to describe the game as ‘action espionage’ in that the stealth elements are fairly light. It’s a side-scroller but in full 3D so there are some cool perspective changes that shift the gameplay also.

We will definitely post more on the blog here in the future. In the mean-time, keep an eye on our blog where you can get a bit more behind the scenes on how the game is being made! :) http://dynamighty.tumblr.com/

  • As I’m trying to leave my PS3 behind little by little, I was sure I’d pick this up on the Vita. But now that you’ve announced a PS4 version… well darn it, I’m back to having choices, haha! A good place to be, I’ll admit.
Very nice to finally get an update on this, as I was starting to worry if it was still coming out. Looking forward to my info and gameplay footage, and a release date. :)

    • If you are waiting on a reason to buy a PS4, you know Towerfall came out yesterday right? The game is super fun! We might have to ban it from the office to finish our own game! :)

  • More PS4 support? Love it!
