Home was a welcome surprise to horror game lovers when it launched on PC in 2012, and it delighted a whole new audience on mobile in 2013. Its simple controls and heavy reliance on rich sound and atmosphere, though, make it a great choice for a console system — so I’m happy to announce that Home is making the jump to PS4 and PS Vita this year!
Part of Home’s charm is that it’s entirely dependent on the player; it isn’t a march toward Ending A or Ending B — it’s the journey itself that is affected, as all your little choices subtly change how your character perceives the world around him. It’s a game that people love playing and then discussing afterward to compare notes and theories.
More importantly, it’s a game that’s meant to be played alone, in the darkest room (or alley, or barn, or deep, dank forest) you can find. On PS4, this means you can turn off the lights, crank that sound system and let the dread wash over you. If you’re extra brave, you can play the game on your Vita — somewhere scary, where no one will find you, and with a fat pair of headphones, of course.
Home received several updates after its original launch to add content and extra features, and everything that’s in the game is making the trek to Playstation. Will you find anything new in this version of Home? Folks who have played the game before know that you can never be sure what you’ll discover the next time you start it up; I’ll be back on the blog to discuss specifics as we tinker around a bit more.
Home is a game that depends on the players who play it. It doesn’t just talk to you; you’re part of the conversation. So the most exciting thing about seeing the game arrive on PS4 and PS Vita is going to be reading and hearing the myriad new stories, theories and comments that players will continue to contribute to the discussion surrounding the game.

This looks interesting. It looks similar to Lone Survivor and Maniac Mansion. I platinumed Lone Survivor and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am waiting for more details on this as well as the release date and price.
My interest is piqued. Time to search for some gameplay videos.
I really liked the game on PC, I played through it straight one rainy Saturday morning last year. I may double dip and get if for the Vita to play again if there’s enough new in the game.
For anyone who hasn’t played it, it’s a really cool atmospheric 2D adventure game. Absolutely worth a look.
Sony going with an x86 platform for the PS4 was a great idea, so many PC titles are able to come over and play now.
What are you guys talking about Maniac Mansion? Is this and Lone Survivor like Maniac Mansion? I would do unspeakable things for a MM and DOTT remake on PS4/PS3/PSV. If these games are anything like it, I’ll purchase them asap.

Sure looks like Lone Survivor 2 but who knows?…well I’m interested..may buy it for Vita depending on the price.

We’ll probably never read this for a particular other game (of the same name) many of us still enjoy and would love to see move to next gen.

I really hope they dont price this in line with the rest of the indies recently released. $5 is the max id buy this for. And no, cross play does NOT add value, its the same game twice. And please, dont waste a IGC game with this.

Are you looking for an interactive, thought-provoking, emotionally-inspiring experience? Or, just some pretty pictures to look at… and stare at… and drool over… and… wait. What are highly-detailed graphics for again? I must have missed the memo. Is there some purpose they serve?
Last time I checked, games were meant to be played, not ogled.
A survival horror game can’t go wrong with that formula as long as itsdone right. This will be worth checking out.

Thanks for the comments, folks! If you poke about the internet you can definitely find more information about Home–www.homehorror.com is a great place to start. It’s quite different than Lone Survivor, in that it’s entirely narrative focused and not a survival horror time (which Lone Survivor pulled off pretty amazingly).
