Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster Out Today on PS3, PS Vita

We’re coming to you today to let you know that Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster is available to pick up and take home now on both PS3 and PS Vita, bringing two classic RPGs to the modern age. Whether Final Fantasy X was one of your favorite games back on the PS2, or you never got a chance to try it, there’s never been a better time to play.

The HD Remasters of both games are feature complete with all the International Edition content that never got released here in North America, and now they take advantage of all the neat stuff PlayStation consoles offer. You’ve got some major Trophy hunting to do, and the two versions feature cross save compatibility with each other, so if you’ve got both, you never have to be without your game. The music is completely remastered, there’s a bonus audio drama… This is truly the definitive version of both games!

We had a lot of great pre-order bonuses going, and while that window has passed, I can say that there are still very limited quantities of the Collector’s Edition in stock, but they won’t last long. The Collector’s Edition comes with a beautiful 40 page art book, five full-sized lithograph prints, and the Final Fantasy X HD Remaster Blu-ray Soundtrack, which has over six hours of music from the game and the MP3 files available on the disc. The soundtrack alone retails for $59.99, so $79.99 for that plus the game and art book is a pretty good deal by my math.

Finally, near and dear to my heart is the Final Fantasy X | X-2 Art Gallery Exhibition, running now through March 26th at the Gallery Nucleus here in Southern California. If you’re not local to the area, all of the art from the show is currently on auction. These prints are all one of one, and come with a certificate of authenticity signed by Producer Yoshinori Kitase. They will never be reproduced, and a few pieces are even original art by the development staff, including Art Director Yusuke Naora and Character Designer Tetsuya Nomura. All the proceeds from this art will be donated to the Typhoon Haiyan relief effort, so please consider bidding. We’ll ship anywhere in the world.

Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster

I’ll end this blog on a personal note to say that it’s been a blast working on Final Fantasy X, a game that I sunk more than 200 happy hours into and never regretted one of them. Not even when a friend saved over my game and I had to start over.

Tidus opens the game with the line, “Listen to my story. This may be our last chance.” So tell us your Final Fantasy X story in the comments. We’d love to hear it!

  • 2pm Pacific time guys still have to wait for a little while longer.

  • It’s 1:13pm… When is FFx/x-2 available on PSN?!!!! T__T

  • the vita version It´s on the US PSN, I just check it…..

  • @xClayMeow

The JP release has now English support (I own it). The asian release will only have Chinese support. As of right now there is no physical copy of X-2 with English support. However, in the past, FFX International that was released in Japan had English and Japanese support, so more than likely they will do the same and release this a second time in Japan, and then you can import an X-2 physical copy if you like. Also, in Japan these games were sold separately or as a bundle.

  • grrr, typo: now = no

The JP release has NO English support

  • Damn I was looking on the wrong store

  • Use the search feature in the PS3 store…you can find it by searching for it. The vita version too.

  • BTW guys, don’t know if it’s been said here already, but FFX/X2 on PS3 is 23GB large, so better start cleaning up some space while we wait..

  • I am guessing since the vita version is up and there is no sign of the PS3 version, the PS3 wont be getting a digital copy

    https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/games/final-fantasy-x-x-2-hd-remaster/cid=UP0082-NPUB50097_00-B000000000000250 vita version here

  • It’s here! OMG OMG OMG

  • @103 Maybe for your regions store but here in the USA only the Vita version is showing up

    @104 Thank god I have a 500gb PS3! :-)

  • i just want ffx hd ahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

  • timmylom is correct.

Go to the website and buy it from there. You can either download it from your Vita or your PS3.

ETA is 25 mins on Vita and 70 mins on PS3 FYI.

  • I can’t find the PS3 version, just the Vita one. Plz help

  • @108 care to share that link to the PS3 version you say is on the store. Cause I just searched and again only the Vita is showing up for me at least.

  • Yes Dmaki650, only the Vita version is showing up right now.

  • Do we even know for 100% sure that a PS3 version is even coming digitally?

  • FYI Vita versions (bundle X/X-2) take up 6.6GB for those who were wondering.

  • It should be, I’m sure it’s just taking time.

The PS Vita version of FF still isn’t showing up on my Vita, but I bought it online and am downloading it to my Vita right now.

I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say it’s going to be a little while before everything is online all stores as it should be. I wish they had digital pre-orders so downloading starts automatically and we don’t have to go through this.

  • “is anyone able to confirm the size of X-2? contemplating hard copy simply for the fact cross play with friend if he gets hard copy ps3 as well.”

Downloading both X and X-2 for Vita right now, both clock in at under 3300MB individually.

  • @ Kharmeister – thanks

  • Has anyone else seen on the vita version of final fantasy x in the description it says cross platform play?

  • To add on to Kharmeister:

    FFX: 3397 MB
    FFX-2: 3394 MB

  • @ XxMalfoyXx – yes it does. “1 Player, Touchscreen, Cross-Platform Play (PS3™)”

  • XxMalfoyXx –

There is cross save compatibility between PS3 and Vita.

  • My collector’s edition should arrive today. Yay! :)

  • No problem, creampuddding. I had to delete some Plus games just to make room. Make sure you upload your saves though, I might have wiped my Walking Dead save…

One thing, though I’m not sure, I don’t think there’s crossplay in this game, not in a multiplayer sense. Here’s what the description says: “1 Player, Touchscreen, Cross-Platform Play (PS3™)”, but I think this is referring to the ability to save your game on Vita, transfer it to the PS3 and continue playing, and vice-versa. If this is the case, it should be referred to as cross-save. And frankly, that ability had better be there, or I just wasted $40 on a portable copy of a game I already bought on PS3! If there are multiplayer features, that’s a bonus.

As for the PS3 digital version, it’s not available on the Canadian PSN (which usually gets all the US stuff when it’s up).

  • Thanks for the correction, SarrylCCM. I should have said “under 3400MB individually”.

  • I am beyond tired of waiting. One would think that the PSN would have this DL ready at midnight. Lesson learned, you can get a physical copy before a digital copy. Target/Walmart had this for sale last night.

  • Info on Share save data between PS Vita and PS3 directly from the game. I’ve never used cloud, but I hope this explains things a bit to those who were asking:

    “Cross-Save

Share save data between the PlayStation Vita system and PlayStation3 system. To share data, both systems must be signed into the same Sony Entertainment Network account.

    Syncing Save Data

Send save data to sync to the cloud server using [X]] (when there are open slots). From now on, when you connect to the cloud server, the synced data will be updated to the data with the longest playing time, unless the sync is deactivated with [square] (all older data will be overwritten.)

*Synced save data can be identified with the [cloud] icon.

    Warning
If there is save data on the cloud server that is not synced to a system when it connects, all such data will be automatically copied and synced to the system as new data.”

  • @ Sakura Minamida
I ordered the collectors editing from the Square Enix Store, and last I had heard people who ordered the collectors edition were getting upgraded shipping so that it would arrive by today, at the time im sending this the mail has already come and gone for me, and it did not arrive

  • r they going to put just ffx and ffx-2 as standalone for vita?

  • Okay thanks for letting me know is final fantasy x up on the ps3 ps store yet?

  • Any hope for a ps4 version? Even for playstaion now? I want this but I own a ps4:(

  • Irishboy3173 –

They come together as a bundle. Here in Canada (and I’m assuming U.S.) they are $39.99. You can buy them either on Vita or PS3.

    XxMalfoyXx –

Just checked PS3 store: Nothing yet
On Sony Entertainment Network: only Vita

  • @sarry thanks when does the ps store usually update for the ps3?

  • nandotheripper –

I believe I read somewhere that you can download the PS3 version on the PS4 right now. I don’t have a PS4 though, so I can’t confirm this. I haven’t read any news about it being released as a PS4 game either.

  • XxMalfoyXx –

Word on the street is usually 12:00 CST which would be about an hour and a half ago. I’ve checked online and on my PS3 for other titles being released today and they are not available yet. I’m guessing that the rollout started at noon because I started the download of FFX to my Vita about an hour ago.

  • Alright I live In that time zone hopefully it’s up soon.

  • Ok, that ps3 version had BETTER show up on the store, or customer service is getting a call.

  • Not interested. Now if they were releasing the HD (or not HD, doesn’t matter to me) version of FFXII for PS3 then I’d download automatically.

  • Finally at least the Vita version is up. Just started downloading should be done in with both in 1 and 1/2 hours.

  • If you’re looking for the PS3 version I’d recommend checking the Sony Entertainment Network first . That’s the first place I saw the Vita version. Next online was the PS3 store(Vita only). My Vita’s PS Store still doesn’t have FFX/X-2 on it.

  • @Waldowaslo They said they might be interested in doing ffxii hd if ffx/x-2 hd sells well.

  • @sarry still ps vita only on sonyentertainmentnetwork.

  • Hey SONY hurry up, it is a 23 gb download!

  • @novo yes just about I read it was 24.1 gigs.

  • Yeah apparently they start updating the psn in the morning then once it done later in the day it goes live. So probably 2pm until we see FFXHD.

  • @taters what time zone central or Pacific?

  • 6,6GB and “FINAL FANTASY X and FINAL FANTASY X-2 NOT SOLD SEPARATELY”. Great!
Lucky to still have my PS2 around :)
