Here at PlayStation, we listen closely to your comments and requests, which are weighted heavily when looking at the future of our platforms. Since PlayStation 4 launched, we’ve heard a lot of great feedback from you about what you like with the platform and what you’d like to see us work on. I’m happy to report that, as a direct result of your feedback, we’ll soon be bringing some of your most-requested features to PS4 with a system software update in the upcoming weeks. These features and additions will help make your PS4 even more socially connected by further enabling you to customize your most epic gaming moments and granting even more options to show them to your friends.
This upcoming update will add a rich video editor with a simple tool to personalize your video clips, and you’ll also be able to export to and save the videos and screenshots you create by pressing the SHARE button to a USB drive. In addition, this update will add an HDCP off option for capturing gameplay via HDMI, a feature we’ve previously said would come after launch. We recognize that some gamers want to record and share longer clips of their gameplay sessions, and we’re excited to deliver this option with PS4. There’s a lot more coming in this update as well, so stay tuned for more—there will be plenty in the update to excite everyone.
As part of a separate system software update in the future, we have been working with our partners at Twitch and Ustream, and will also be adding the ability for Twitch broadcasts to be archived – another highly requested feature among PS4 fans who are taking advantage of the SHARE button features. These broadcasts will be also provided with a higher resolution of 720p, so PS4 fans can enjoy live broadcasts with clearer images. We’ll have more to come on these updates and more in the coming weeks.
Glad to hear that great updates are coming, sad that I will have to wait longer still for Twitch archiving. Every other app that I use to stream to my Twitch just works. They allow the setting in the Twitch config to just take over and save my vids.
At least you’ll be dropping HDCP, I’ll snag a video capture card and go from there. Not the end of the world, just a little annoying.
Eager to hear some more details, like the video capture length for videos on the HD. Hell, if we could record 1 hour videos to export to USB that would probably work for 99% of the people out there.
MP3 support and a media server both need to be added. I can’t stream my music/videos from PC to PS4 like on PS3 to watch/listen on tv.
This adds an “HDCP off option.” Maybe I’m missing something, but… why would we ever choose to have it on?

I agree with #2. Please add WPA-Enterprise (wifi) support for the Vita.
i have to echo DLNA support. i love that there are finally updates on the comming updates but i have moved my ps3 to the bedroom and my ps4 is my hub now but i can stream to it wich is silly.

Has any decision been reached regarding the 100 icon limit for the Vita?
It would be really nice to get any sort of news regarding it. Will it be fixed, or will we have to live with it?

DLNA support please!
I agree with pretty much everything everybody has said above. With folders and UI customization being at the top of my list.
I would also like to be able to list the games I have with just text and not icons, by title.
I would also like to be able to adjust the strength of vibration in the controller. I don’t even feel the vibration in my controller when I’m playing games. I would love for it to be much stronger than it is, if it’s possible via software. I have enabled, but barely feel it when it happens.
Custom soundtracks would also be another nice addition. Sometimes I just want to listen to the music I want to listen to and not the in game soundtrack.
External hard drive support for game storage, along with media streaming.
How about a iPad specific Playstation App at full retina resolution.
Support for PS3/ Windows force feedback wheels and flight sticks.

I also agree that we need media support for opening video,audio and image files.Ps4 is capable of playing sharing etc….and cant just read files?
Also something else i have noticed is that there is no uPnP option in connection settings which is pretty annoying cause on ps4 menu i have nat type 3 but inside call of duty ghost i have open….if these 2 functions are added,ps4 will be twice amazing as it is now.
Sharing straight to USB is awesome though, cuz I don’t use facebook or twitter. 720p broadcasts will be nice too.

@Mike_Kelehan If HDCP is OFF, original Blu-Ray movies do not play at all. HDCP means High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection, and its used to prevent video capture.

I’m very pleased to finally hear some big news on the firmware for my PS4. Xbox gamers have been getting regular updates about the state of play for their console and I feel its one of the very few things that PlayStation has been lacking, keeping all (nearly 7m??) of us updated about what is coming and when.
Just once a month will do. We are working on A), we are thinking about this list of stuff, B) will be a few months away yet.
We are a bright bunch, we understand that things take time and that you can’t just magic new features into the software. But don’t leave us in the dark. We are your staunchest supporters, your biggest fans, we were there in drives for your February announcement over a year ago, we were pre ordering like crazy, we have queued in the cold and shared gif after gif after gif. We are informed consumers, we are gamers. PlayStation Gamers. Keep us in the loop regularly.
It sure sounds like a great update full of excellent wished for features. I hope we don’t have to wait too long for it, or further communication about later firmwares.

The share feature is atrocious. Why should I have to take a picture every time I simply wanna access the share menu for starting a stream or uploading a video?
Another thing, the video record feature works half the time. Do something cool in Battlefield 4 or MGSV and wanna share? Too bad. The built-in game capture decided to only record the first 15 minutes of your started application and left a 15 minute gap between where that recording took place and the moment you pushed the share button so you’re out of luck.
I’m so glad I have an HD PVR. I got sick of waiting for Sony to remove HDCP so I spent $20 on an HDMI splitter that strips HDCP.

How about allowing sub-accounts turn into master accounts after the person is over 18 I can’t use twitch and many other features because of this.
Hopefully one day I can share NBA 2K14 footage with sound. I think that’s the publishers doing and not Sony’s.
Like many others who mention it: SUB ACCOUNT ISSUES! This better be on your ‘important to fix’ list. Promotion of sub account to master, or at least let sub accounts do whatever Master accounts can do… You have account controls for sub accounts under the master account settings and they don’t do $#!+!
I’d like a share function for the vita, through the PS4 maybe. So that there’s an effective way of doing that without modding the system (which I don’t want to do… it’s my Vita, lol). Also, the ability to take screenshots of PSP games on the vita would be nice. And maybe some more PSP/PSone title compatibility on the Vita (Portable Ops comes to mind pretty quickly).

3D Bluray Support! If Pinball FX (a downloadable game) can output in 3D, why can’t your player? You said that there are no games in the works with 3D support. Who cares. There are plenty of 3D TVs and 3D Blurays out there. Unless Hollywood stops making 3D movies (which it won’t), please add this SIMPLE feature.
I want to increase more support for Bluetooth.

That’s great and all, but really my PS3 is far more better console than my PS4 because it can playback media, stream videos through DLNA, has Youtube, etc.
This is a great update…… I would really like MP3 playlists and 3D Blu-Ray support back. That would be the icing on the cake!!!!
Dear Sony Playstation.. I am requesting a YouTube app for the PS4 were us YouTube partners can live stream and be able to gain more subscribers / viewers.. This would be a gaming move big time since my channel is mostly gaming related.. Would be ideal! Thank you kindly for listening

when are you putting DLNA or a similar service to stream videos from my media server? I know the PS4 is a Gaming console, but come on!

– Dynamic Themes
– More Avatars already – they’re ALL from PS3
– Friends online/offline notifications
– Show when friends were last online
– Status comments
– Ability to pause/prioritize downloads
– Ability for master account to play with a DS4 while remote playing on Vita
– Share directly with friends rather than just Facebook or Twitter
– External storage support
– More apps (where’s GameTrailers, Machinima, etc?)
– DLNA/MP3 support
There are obviously more than this but these are the features I’d like to see in upcoming system software updates.

for those talking about the share option being broken. when you want to record video to share do you double click the share button? if not that’s what you’re supposed to do, that’s what I do and I don’t have problems. what i want: 3D Bluray support (don’t have a 3D tv I just want people to stop complaining).
Anyways, what I really want are PS4 themes (normal and dynamic).
i want to be able to delete games from the main screen but have them stay in the Library folder.
No one cares about DLNA or MP3… Go buy an MP3 player

My PS3 can support all of the abovementioned and it’s a last-gen console.
