Here at PlayStation, we listen closely to your comments and requests, which are weighted heavily when looking at the future of our platforms. Since PlayStation 4 launched, we’ve heard a lot of great feedback from you about what you like with the platform and what you’d like to see us work on. I’m happy to report that, as a direct result of your feedback, we’ll soon be bringing some of your most-requested features to PS4 with a system software update in the upcoming weeks. These features and additions will help make your PS4 even more socially connected by further enabling you to customize your most epic gaming moments and granting even more options to show them to your friends.
This upcoming update will add a rich video editor with a simple tool to personalize your video clips, and you’ll also be able to export to and save the videos and screenshots you create by pressing the SHARE button to a USB drive. In addition, this update will add an HDCP off option for capturing gameplay via HDMI, a feature we’ve previously said would come after launch. We recognize that some gamers want to record and share longer clips of their gameplay sessions, and we’re excited to deliver this option with PS4. There’s a lot more coming in this update as well, so stay tuned for more—there will be plenty in the update to excite everyone.
As part of a separate system software update in the future, we have been working with our partners at Twitch and Ustream, and will also be adding the ability for Twitch broadcasts to be archived – another highly requested feature among PS4 fans who are taking advantage of the SHARE button features. These broadcasts will be also provided with a higher resolution of 720p, so PS4 fans can enjoy live broadcasts with clearer images. We’ll have more to come on these updates and more in the coming weeks.
I want a software update that adds an alphabetical sort option for trophy and game lists please. I’m really disappointed that after all these years that the PS3 cannot sort games by name and I have to deal with it on my PS4 where it can’t sort by name for the trophy listing either.
I find it inexcusable that such a basic feature doesn’t exist.
Im wanna hear about we bein able 2 take HDCP off on the PS3 Systems orr is that impossiple for sony Becouse its in the hardware not the software

So I really do appreciate the continuing evolution of features on the platform and love my PS4. However few things. I have no clue if there are plans to support themes or backgrounds in the future but even if there is not we really need to be able to download our icons we bought on PS4. For instance, my Lightning Returns avatar I have right now I bought it alongside some PS4 content via the web store however I had to turn on my PS3 to even be able to change my icon at all. I don’t think it would be too much to ask to be allowed to have access to all of our custom icons at the very least.
I hope this will improves recording other players voice chat, because when I playback the recorded gameplay I could hardly hear them. I can only hear myself talking.
Can you add these features in the next PS Vita system software update?
. Ability to see percentage of battery life
. Voice Commands
. Allow us to multitask between all apps while playing a game
. Game Sharing for PS Vita
. Allow us to use full brightness on all Vita games
. Update Near and give us more options(It is the rival to Street Pass after all)
. Mini games for the Vita with Trophy Support
. PS2 Classics Support
Also on a side note, I really loved the PULSE Series that was on PSN! You guys should bring it back but make seperate shows for PS Vita and PS4

YouTube support, its a hassle uploading to Facebook then downloading the video just so I can edit it and then upload again on YouTube.
Still sitting here and waiting for MP3 and CD support. I hope sony decides, “You know what….people still play games on our PS3 system and record videos….let;s remove the HDCP on that too.” That would be great for the likes of me who wants to start recording PS3 gameplay as well as PS4
I appreciate the improvements made to the PS4. I don’t want to sound mean, but there shouldn’t be any feedback regarding these issues. The PS4 should have released with every feature the PS3 has by default. Don’t be like Apple and remove BASIC features, only to introduce them again as if it was something completely new or requested.
In my opinion, the number 1 priority right now for the FW team is to get the PS4 to where the PS3 is feature-wise. Right now, we should be expecting NEW features. Not OLD featured that should be there in the first place.
Again, thanks for the improvements, but the PS4 shouldn’t be playing catchup with the PS3.
With this software update’s focus on the Share functionality… will the sub account issue be addressed? Many of us who created PSN accounts when we were under 18 have been waiting for a solution by either allowing sub accounts to upgrade to master accounts or dropping the master account requirement.

The message is loud and clear, please give us these highly requested features;
-MP3/AAC/CD Play back
-MP4/MKV Playback
-JPEG/PNG/GIF Support
-DLNA
-3D Video/Blu-ray
-Voice across all apps, play pause on content
These all are bare minimum features for damn near every electronic device on the market today. Please put major focus of these. Do not stagnate and let the competition have something to point out as a weakness. The longer this last the greater the chance that PS4 picks up a stigma of being feature limited. Once the masses believe these features are missing, it will be very hard to convince them otherwise.
Other than the extremely important issue for sub accounts, I want to see the Suspend/Resume functionality as well as some sort of folder/sorting.

I really do appreciate that you mentioned the DLNA support and you’re looking into it. Us consumers like when we aren’t ignored. But there is the issue of the microphones/communicators. I personally, LIKE the mono headset. It’s dinky and neat, but there really does need to be a wider variety. I don’t make enough money to go out and buy a 125$ PULSE headset. I understand that there needs to be a certain standard when it comes to audio quality, but it seems that I can’t get any bluetooth mic or otherwise that is compatible. I wear glasses as well and I would prefer some that go around my head. I’m sure this isn’t your highest priority, but it would seem vital to me, to improve communication. Other than that, good work keeping us updated.
PlayStation is the true leader when it comes to the video game industry. I love my PS4 & how smooth and social the OS is, but it could use many various improvements/additions. I am so glad that you guys are listening and I know that you will deliver what the consumers want, because PlayStation is #4theplayers. Yes, exporting share pics and clips to USB is great and Twitch archiving is great, but we also need:
– Background customization
– Organization
– Local support for viewing JPEG, MP4 Videos, & MP3 files via USB like on the PS3
– Improve the image viewer………PS3 image viewer works excellent
– Add more voice commands
– Improve the PS Store Video Playback on slower speed internet (video freezing)…Need smooth video playback
– YouTube support
– Video Chat
– Offline trophy viewing
– Add pause option for downloads
– Touch pad support on OS or Browser
– 3D Blu-ray support
– CROSS button should be play/pause button on DVD playback not SQUARE……same as PS3.
(The PS3 has great media playback)

How about some customization / folders? It took forever to get this on the Vita, I hope you don’t make us wait that long to add some organization to our PS4’s. I don’t need to see every single game I’ve ever played all in a horizontal bar. Let me choose what I see. Maybe add an icon or display somehow what disc is in my PS4 as well ?
There aren’t a lot of games yet but let’s stop a problem before it becomes a bigger one.
A lot of people want themes, avatars, etc but I’m indifferent.
DLNA / MP3 support and being able to use my harmony one remote are the biggest improvement I would want. Better bluetooth support as well.
I like that your primary focus is games, but I don’t like when a product drops 50% of it’s previous models capabilities. It’s like taking 2 steps forward but 1 step back.
And the biggest feature and most wanted would be the suspend / resume! It was my favorite feature announced and we are still waiting for it!
Please make the screenshots functionality to save lossless images, like PNG for example. Not JPGs.
Just want to add that I really hope customization for the home screen is coming soon too. I really like the look of it, but I want to be able to add or delete icons and place which one’s I want up front. It’s a little awkward to get to Netflix and Hulu and I don’t need the Playroom on my start screen since I don’t have the camera.
We want 3D Bluray support … What about MP3s? What about all the other things we are waiting for months now?!

Is there an update in the works for the playstation vita? It’s been a while since we got any new features. One feature that I am particularly interested in is the ability to quickly bring up music controls for music unlimited while in a game. For example holding down the playstation button brings up the menu with wifi airplane mode, volume and music play, pause, forward and back. These music controls only work with the music app. It would be great if it worked with the music unlimited app because that’s my primary source of music playback. It’s just a pain to have to leave a game, go into the app then change the song
YouTube hear I come. Do you guys know when the YouTube app is coming are you guys still in talks with Google do to streaming features. Just bring in Hangouts both parties would benefit from it.
I think a good starting point would be to start with getting the PS4 to do everything that the PS3 can do then add from there!!!! it’s sad that a last Gen console can do more then this GEN.
More connectivity between the vita and ps4. Pls let me download my vita games to the ps4 first and transfer to the vita like you can on the ps3. And where is the ability to put my game in stand by mode and jump between games on the fly without turning of the previous game. Pls
I would love to see a feature on my ps3 to connect to the ps4 the same as the vita so i could play my ps4 in the bedroom on a big screen via Ps3 when the wife steals the tv.

Thank you sony for making yet another awesome console! I would like to suggest a small upgrade to the store. Seems like it’s rather inconvenient when searching for games/add ons or trying to grab the game that most recently was added to the IGC. Would also be nice to have the option to download a purchase later (pretty sure ps3 had this option). For a brief period on my ps3, my hard drive was all but maxed out, yet a new awesome game was added to the IGC. One could add the game to ones account, but download it much much later when opportunity presented itself, without worry of missing the benefits of Plus.
I would also like to see sony making steps towards having non-sony headsets work up to their potential. I’m stoked seeing new games coming out with the headset specific sound modes, but I don’t have either of the two supported sony headsets. I am really fond of my tritton 720’s and don’t want to spend another $100+ dollars on a different headset which I may or may not like. If sony has no plans on supporting other headset for these custom sound modes, I would like to know, as it could sway my hand on potentially handing you more of my money.

A third point to make, what’s up with all the account nonsense? I realize this may not be as readily possible for the psn, but in WoW, players can pay a fee, and virtually change anything about their character. Race, sex, name, server, this could all be altered. I am reasonably certain that if people could pay $5-15 and be able to change your name, account from master to sub etc. pretty much everyone would pay that fee and be happy. I certainly would.

You can already do that on the Web store…
I’m hoping that you will soon be able to just hit “options” button to then (share) over your older screenshots and video. Because as it is right now, if you have some older things you want to upload, you have to hit the share button again. That then will take another screenshot of either your screenshots folder, or video folder. Thus adding more clutter. If we could just hover over the things we want to share, hit “options” then (share) that media, without taking another screenshot would be nice.
For example I have 10 screenshots that I wanted to upload, but to upload them all I had to (share) it, which then took a picture of all my other pictures… so now I have double the screenshots..of screenshots..
Since someone is asking for friend notifications of them going online and offline again, I have a request as well. I’m sick and tired of not having a way to turn those messages off so they don’t block what I’m looking at on my screen. I want the ability to turn that feature off without turning off other features. I’d like it as a single feature of turning “So and so is now offline/online” off without disabling another feature at the same time, thus my problem with my ps3:(
I really hate asking things like these but for those who want to stream but do not have a great upload speed, are there plans to “customize” stream settings (i.e. choice of streaming server (twitch has many!), how much bitrate per second, frames per second, etc?)
Twitch requires constant bitrate and maxframe rate or whatever it’s called, too :(
P.S. I was talking about the PS4 just in case the feature shows up that console in the future. Sony call center has already told me that I will never be able to disable it without giving up the other feature, which is “You received a friend message” I think. I actually forgot what it was that is disabled along with the friend notifications:)
Why do you need YouTube uploading when you can now save videos to USB? Just upload from USB to YouTube on your PC! This is awesome news, as Facebook was a terrible place to upload game videos!!
I just updated my PS4 yesterday. Was that the update or is there another one coming?
And people complain about where are the features at. what people need to learn is how to have patience and if you don’t have that then that’s a personal problem.
There really should be an option to delete videos in the share menu rather than go all the way to the system storage option.

I’d say the feature I miss most is being able to queue and prioritise downloads. I like to set my downloads going all at once, but when they all download at the same time, I have to wait so much longer for any of the files to complete so i can play them.
Thanks for the update. Keep up the hard work. As for requests I have two that I’d like to see.
– A permanent battery bar in the top right corner of the UI next to the clock (similar to like a cell phone, maybe even with a percentage indicator)

Great news! I’ve been wanting to record my game play with my Elgato for quite some time now. I like to see background themes and the ability to rip our cds to the ps4 in the future, thanks guys!
Awesome to hear that Sony’s listening and improving the share button…. but can someone please do something about adding Friend Notifications? I dont know how this didn’t make the “out of the box” list, but it would be a great help. Also some fixes regarding co-op trophy’s not working… I’ve had friends sign in on my console, play co op games (Towerfall Ascension, Awesomenauts) and NOT get the earned trophies nor even the game added to their history list.
