  • I understand the lack of AAA games on PS4 as an argument and agree with that. But what about the ps vita? does it lack AAA or exclusive games? Why is it getting so many indies and psp games on IGC?

  • btw, calling a “Kid” those who are asking for ps4 genuine games, it’s not a really mature valid argument :) just saying

  • @Jerzy You need to stop assuming it’s spoiled kids who are making these complaints. Personally I fund my gaming hobby, it’s comprised of PC, PS4, One, Vita, 360, iOS (if that counts). Out of all of those PS4 is getting the least of my time & it was my most anticipated. It isn’t just about what’s free(with a paid subscription) it’s about what’s available at all. We’ve been getting 2-3 indie games a month available (1 for free) & maybe 1 AAA title. We’ve had the system for almost half a year and it’s easy to see why people are getting restless.

    Injustice – Play on 360
    Fez – Played on 360
Dead Nation – Played on PS3
    Outlast – Played on PC
Tomb Raider – Played on 360
Escape Plan – Played on Vita
Need for Speed – Done with that franchise 6 years ago
Assassins Creed – AC3 was so bad I’ll never pay more than 20$ for an AC game again
Awesomenauts: Assemble – I have LoL, no way A:A keeps servers saturated after a month
Towerfall Ascension – Have hundreds of other 2d platformers I’ve yet to complete
Basement Crawl – Servers will be dead in a month
    Theif – 30$ already, flop

  • Can I download Mercenary Kings on my PS3? Because I don’t have a PS4 yet. Sony make a white PS4.

  • @Matrix_Lion: You can’t play it on PS3, but if you just want to reserve it for when you get a PS4: You can do that via the web store. See my post (#90 right now) if you don’t know how. :)

  • Is Obscure; the Aftermath the PSP version? If so, is it now compatible with the Vita? Or are you guys releasing it as a PS2 classic?
    Thanks!

  • I am thrilled that Mercenary Kings is free for PS Plus, but I admit I was going to pay full price it anyway.

  • Obscure is most likely the PSP version since that’s all the store has right now. Plus that version is currently $9.99, which is the regular price listed in this post. But with all the errors and omissions in these posts, anything’s possible. ;)

  • Hi Kristine and Morgan, how are you doing?
I want to make you a simple and kind of odd question, but anyway, here it goes:
Do you know if sometime in the near future we will have some sale or discount on Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed?
I became a PS+ member just the month after you removed the game from the IGC :(
I’m playing GT6, and GT it’s for sure my favourite sim, but I would love to hear some different engine sounds from time to time, they are lacking some key sounds right now and until GT7, I hope, in PS4 we wont get the real simulated type of sound the game deserves and… well, that.
I would really appreciate if you can answer me.
    A proud Sony user.

  • Can you FIX the shadow of colossus game, it freezes at the credits, I did Everything I could, CAN U FIX IT. ITS THE PSN VERSION .

  • Did they ever fix the glitch with ASM where the game no longer recognizes your save? I ended up re-buying the game on the Wii U because of that and it also comes with the DLC on the disc.

  • Cool…will be adding Mercenary Kings to my download list,it’ll join the rest of the free PS4 games waiting for me to buy a PS4.Game looks really fun…reminds me a lot of Metal Slug from which I have a huge amount of great memories.

Arkham City is one of the best multiplatform games ever….so people who never played it…are in for a real good treat.

Will be waiting for that Stealth Inc.

  • Sweet! I’ll definitely be getting both of these. Had never heard of Mercenary Kings before but it looks awesome! And I never got around to playing Arkham City :O lol so now’s the perfect time. Thanks Sony! :D

  • I was really hoping with Batman Arkham City being the free Plus game, the DLC would be offered on sale. I guess not! I’d really like to see older DLC and PSN titles drop in price after a period of time like retail games do. In some cases, the DLC for a game costs more than buying the game itself!

  • Seeing all the mutual agreement about how Activision runs their sales and such, I can’t help but wonder how it is EA is in the running for WORST company yet again when Activision is getting away with releasing filth like GHOSTS and making a billion dollars that fast with it, and robbing gamers everywhere.

  • @ThumbsOfSteel74: Much appreciated

  • @77what are you saying?

  • @ice cream mike

Dude like you said the system been out for almost half a year. what did you expect when you decided to get the system out at launch? blame yourself for having jumped into the next gen knowing it would be dry for the first year.

Devs are still getting used to the PS4, games are still in development.

im pretty sure Sony isnt gonna put a game out (NON-indie) on PS+ before it has the Number of sold copies that the Devs want.
For now everyone just has to deal with what they are getting.

  • Oh, man… if I hadn’t already played Arkham City, I’d be dancing. I’m jealous of folks getting to discover it for the first time.

  • I have fun with Indies. But it would still be nice to get something on ps4 like Tomb Raider, Knack, NFS or something like that. Even just a nice discount on some launch titles would be appreciated. Been waiting for ever on Need for speed to get a price drop.
The flash sale was great, but we got Tomb Raider on ps3 already, so had no reason to buy it on ps4 and Thief got horrible reviews and metacritic scores, which turned me off.

  • Hmm…. nothing for me this week, but only because I have Arkham City GOTY already.

  • Glad to see Mercenary Kings as a freebie for Plus.

I still wonder why it’s so hard to get classics on PlayStation. Some companies have made attempts, but they are either half hearted or never followed up on. My favorites so far are Neo-Geo Station, Capcom Arcade Cabinet, and Sega Vintage Classics.. All were developed by the retro wizards at M2 by the way. They released a few extra games for each, and then fell off the radar.

Why doesn’t Sony just hire M2 to make a unified “Virtual Console/Arcade” of sorts where all companies can release their classic games? Tie this in with a Home type interface and I think it could be amazing.

  • For big gamers like myself this is a bad week for plus. Most big gamers have played Arkham City and beat it so we are looking for some good discounts this week and all we get are 2 games on sale. Both of which are just ok games nothing to really jump up and write home about. Mercenary Kings is great for my ps4 no complaints their but where are my discounts on new releases I used to get

  • To those, whom are complaining about the lack of PS4 games: What did you expect? The console only came out 4 and 1/2 months ago. You are either very young or you have never brought a console at launch. The first year of a console is always going to be dry.

Heck, I remember the complaints about PS2, and some gamers were saying it was going to fail, because few games (after the amazing launch line-up) were released during the first year. This is nothing new! Most console don’t get a decent library until the end of the second or even third year. Now look at the PS2!

I usually wait one year before jumping into a new console. And it usually has nothing to do with the lack of games, but every launch has its technical issues and bugs to work out. The PS4 (and Xbox One) seemed to have not suffered much from such issues, which is a great sign.

  • On another unrelated issue:
@ 23: I only wished some of these games came out during the SNES era! And to Morgan, well put! I personally love the side-scrolling era. I also love modern games. I’m a very rare gamer. because I can go from playing Batman on the NES (damn tough game) to the modern Batman games and enjoy each one for what it is worth. And knowing that the era of side scrollers isn’t limited to just what, was on the SNES (and previously to it) is fantastic. Of coure, Nintendo is still making side scrollers for the Wii U. Donkey Kong newest game looks awesome.

Sorry, I’m a fan of all consoles and games. But I will point out, that Sony is my favorite.

  • I’m disappointed I beat every game they are putting on ps plus. I literally joined for battlefield 3 and DMC but those are no longer available! They advertise it like its going to be there in their library for you whenever you sign up but no it gone in a month! I thought next month theyll add something better.

  • @juuichi-11,

That is a very reasonable question. Sony knows, but doesn’t say. Just a SWAG, but I suspect it’s somewhere between the price they pay the publisher and how much money they have in the PS+ checking account. I’m sure it’s not an easy job talking to publishers and haggling over bringing something to PS+

  • I just cannot believe Sony is giving away PS4 games with PS Plus, the system just came out! And Arkham City was awesome, so I look forward to playing that again eventually.

  • The fact that some of you have the audacity to think you’re entitled to BRAND NEW AAA games on the PS4 for free is laughable at best. How spoiled/ungrateful can you possibly be? Also shame on you for belittling indie developers. How dare you. They are just as important as big name companies if not more so. Indie devs actually bring in ore revenue than you think.

Here’s a crazy idea: instead of whining like overgrown infants, actually TRY the blasted game being offered. I mean for God’s sakes, it’s F-R-E-E. Or, “at no extra cost” if you wanna be technical. What’s the worst that could POSSIBLY happen? Oh you didn’t like it? Boo-hoo, delete it and move on.

I am so sick of these immature children coming on here every month acting like they’re the kings and Sony has to specifically appeal to THEIR personal tastes in games. Here’s a newsflash people: “good” is 100% SUBJECTIVE. Everyone likes different stuff, you ARE NOT going to like every single game they push out, but some of us what you don’t and vice versa, PS+ is for everyone, not just you. Stop being selfish.

  • @129

    Yup.

  • Also, if you guys want “real” PS4 and Vita games, just buy them. Stop being cheap and buy them. They’re not going to just fall into your lap like you’re hoping for. I swear some people think if they have PS+ they never have to buy another game again. LOL no. Not even close. It’s a nice service, but you shouldn’t base your gaming career on it. you will always be behind.

  • the long wait for the store updaye i hope the do it on time this month all the others were late

  • @120

Ever think that a game going on sale, is because of poor sales. not poor gameplay? Bad reviews can hurt a game that is sub par. Not every game can be 9-10s. If 30 dollars is a leap of faith on a 6.8 review; I would hate to see how many good games you miss in a year.

  • @InfectedGYPSY: Yeah, but games that are on the margins like that will often be passed over at certain price points by people with huge backlogs and/or little time (or money) to spend on more games. I fit into this category, and I’m sure I miss many games every year that you would consider good. It’s hard enough not to miss any great ones. I’ve long since given up on the idea that I’ll ever be able to play all my games, but I’ll keep trying! (And buying more along the way… XD )

  • I never said that I wanted TRIPLE AAA games entirely for free. BTW, PS Plus isn’t FREE! We buy a PS Plus membership card for $20 dollars for three months or $60 dollars for a year. My point is that the PS Vita and PS4 need QUALITY triple A games to be released for us to purchase brand new from GameStop or WalMart and not downloaded for “free” from PS Plus. I’m not interested in buying any more indie video game titles. I want more real high quality triple A videos games on the PS Vita like Dragon’s Crown, Assassin’s Creed Liberation, One Piece Unlimited World: Red, Killzone Mercenary and Corpse Party Blood Drive. We also need Sony to push more God of War titles on the PS Vita and PS4.

  • I can’t believe anyone was hatin’ on Dragon’s Crown. It’s an amazing game (one I wish would be ported over to PS4 or had cross-buy for Vita).

To address the people complaining about them not removing or changing up the Vita’s IGC games (Uncharted: GA, Wipeout & Gravity Rush), well did you ever think that there are a TON of new Vita owners that have not gotten a chance to be exposed to these three games, and so what better way to show them the power and awesome potential of the system with those 3 games.

    <3 Mercenary Kings.

On a related note, fix the online on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Never finished it, because it's great as a co-op brawler, only the LAG and disconnects and game crashing bugs ruined the experience for me.

  • Morgan’s reply to #23 nailed it.

    @ Ryumoau

Lots of indie games have more depth than you realize, not just Mercenary Kings. I see what your problem is now. You put too much stock in trailers. Most trailers don’t show the depth of games very well.

    @ secularsage

Activision spends A LOT of money on advertising… I’ll let you figure out the rest.

  • Does anyone know what time the PS Store usually updates every Tuesday? I know it can vary due to them updating early/late, but what is the usual expected time?

  • CraddaPoosta on March 31st, 2014 at 8:41 am said: “Indie hipsters are amusing to me. I IMAGINE they all have berets and long cigarette holders for their clove cigarettes, while they talk about the latest Sundance festival and how much cooler Colecovision was than Atari”

You got that right. You definitely are IMAGINING it. Whatever you need to feel better, I guess.

As far as your post about 99 cent apps, if you knew how things worked in the industry, you’d know that games can’t sell for 99 cents on a console the way they can on widely established platforms like iOS. Plus, with the extra work it takes to make the port, then add physical controls, trophies, leaderboards, and in many cases enhanced visuals, you’ve got a legitimate reason for a price increase. You pay more for the “ultimate version”.

Then, look at you “making rules”… ha ha… you have no clue what people want. Many people I personally know will double-dip on a game they bought on their phone when it comes to Vita/PS3/PS4, so they can play it with actual gaming controls and the other PSN benefits I mentioned above. You’re clueless about the way all of this works, yet you continue to speak as if you’re an expert.

  • Also, Morgan’s reply to #55 said it all too. Thanks Morgan, for finally coming in here and setting the record straight.

    @ juuichi-11

Morgan’s not giving you his opinion, he’s on the inside track (unlike that one guy, wink wink) so he has access to the actual statistics he’s getting his information from. You don’t realize just what an absolutely MICROSCOPIC percentage of players the complainers are.

  • Does anybody know when this update is gonna hit tomorrow? Can’t wait to play Mercenary Kings, looks amazing!

  • Speaking of that one guy, and his hilarious conspiracy theory that Sony is “shoveling” or “forcing” indies on us, what he doesn’t realize is that one could also theorize that the opposite is happening. Even though indie games represent a substantial chunk of the market, there’s no denying that AAA games get more attention. Sony is in business to make profit, so, logically, they’d be “shoveling” AAA games on us all the time if they could. Key word: COULD.

That guy fails to realize that an agreement needs to be reached by BOTH SIDES. You see indie devs’ games in the IGC because they agree more often. AAA devs agree less often, most likely because they feel they can secure greater profits by selling their wares in the traditional manner, and will agree to send their game to the IGC when profits start to dwindle. Basic business, no conspiracy.

Given how popular trophies have become, if Sony really wanted to “force” indies on us, brainwash us to fall in love with them and become a legion of beret-wearing, latte-sipping, clove smoking suck-ups, wouldn’t they allow for platinum trophies on smaller titles to give them a wider appeal? Oops! Little expert hater boy didn’t think of that, did he…

  • Can you confirm if the Catwoman Bundle is included with Batman: Arkham City when it becomes free for PS+ members tomorrow?

I’m assuming yes, but Tomb Raider used to be only available as a bundle with add-ons, and that changed to the game by itself on the same day it was free for PS+ members.

  • Biglouie, I read a few places where yes, they are confirming Catwoman DLC Bundle will be free/included when Arkham drops tomorrow.

  • Two questions;

    1) Will save data from arkham city goty work with this version?

    2) Interested in the Amazing Spiderman, would anyone recommend it?

    Thanks

  • @142 – They usually update the store at 5pm EST. Surprisingly last week they updated earlier!

  • From what I have seen Mercenary Kings sounds fun, but I still have my doubts about somethings. Can’t wait for tommorow and play it, though I will be going back to my PS3 and trying out Batman Arkam City. I have never played a Batman game or have never been interested in super heros. Hopfully I enjoy both Mercenary Kings and Batman Arkam City!

  • Hey Morgan
i just join PS plus and i missed Outlast iam so sad because of that but i really happy for all the games that ps plus offer for us
but i want to ask is it possible a game may be free at ps plus twice ? i mean is there any hope that outlast may be free again for plus users
    Thanks

  • @3: I didn’t much like ASM. It was a return to open-world NY, but the levels themselves were closed off and linear. Plus, your webbing just flew into the sky, which for me was a dealbreaker when a PS2 game could manage to attach them to walls. It introduced a handful of interesting ideas, and for $18, it might be worth a look if you’re really into Spider-Man.

Personally, I’ll hold on to that money and put it toward ASM2 at the end of the month. It looks like they fixed the things wrong wih the first, and added in things that have been missing for far too long, like mapping each webshooter to a trigger, which should make webswinging more precise.
