Ethan: Meteor Hunter Comes to PS Vita Next Week

Ethan Meteor Hunter on PS Vita

The first day we showed you guys Ethan: Meteor Hunter, all you asked was to get a PS Vita version. That was a shame for the PS3 version we released back in October, and yet, you had our attention. Today we’re happy to announce Ethan: Meteor Hunter will launch next week on April 15th for $9.99. If you’re a player of great taste who already bought Ethan on PS3, then you have nothing to worry about — it’s cross buy, so no extra dime to spend. To catch up, we have a wonderful opportunity for PS Plus members who can claim a 20% discount, only available for one week.

So, why would you buy Ethan: Meteor Hunter on PS Vita? I’m sure you’re very skilled gamers who like tough challenges, the “just one more try” kind, so you’ll be very pleased with Ethan. He’s a rat who has superpowers, just like the comic books we read. He can freeze time and move objects around to get through challenging platforms and mind-bending, physics-based puzzles. Have a look at a simple situation:

Physics based also mean that in Ethan: Meteor Hunter you can get through obstacles the way you want. Nothing is scripted. Here’s an example with three different ways to get through:

You might think “This seems to be a perfect match for the PS Vita” — and it is! Use the front touch screen to grab and move objects:

The rear touch pad has not been forgotten, as you can use it to rotate objects when grabbing them with R:

Your crowed daily commute is also a great place to kill Ethan as you can simply use buttons to enjoy the game. Yes, you will die a lot trying to get revenge on your neighbor who destroyed your house.

Speaking of deaths, we wanted to share with you our early sketches on how we designed the many different ways to die in Ethan: Meteor Hunter:

Hope you guys will enjoy the game as much as we enjoyed making it! Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter for the latest news. We’ll be announcing our next game soon…

  • Too much indie on vita already, but it looks cool though.

  • The background is way too intrusive, and looks like it will severly hamper the gameplay experience, I’d recommend darkening it somewhat, or distinguishing it from the foreground.

  • Congrats, guys!

I don’t usually double-dip, but I’m tempted to in this case because the Vita seems like the perfect platform for Ethan!

  • Looks like an interesting puzzle platformer. Very intrigued…especially with it now being on Vita. Seems like a perfect fit, honestly.

  • Oh boy, another 2D side scrolling indie game. Indiestation

  • @3

    It’s cross-buy, you don’t have to double dip. =)

  • That looks awesome. I likely won’t buy it right away, but I’ll throw it on my “to buy” list for once I clear out the old Vita backlog a bit.

  • Awesome, didn’t think it would be out so soon. Bought the PS3 version right when you guys announced it to be crossbuy, so I’m looking forward to downloading this on my Vita next week.

  • I wanted to give Ethan a try but way too many negative reviews and the fact that it’s been on sale a few times leaves it screaming for the IGC sometime soon. I’ll pick it up once it’s free. Just Saying…

  • Translation:

“We delivered a PS3 version but you demanded a Vita version. Well we actually did that now too, so you’d better buy it this time!” ;-)

  • I really wanted to give this game a shot but it was never on Vita. Now it is. And now I’ll go ahead and buy it Tuesday.

  • Congrats on getting Ethan onto the VIta. I think it’ll be right at home. A nice on-the-go experience, and plenty of content.

This might be a bit premature, but do you think a PS4 version is in the cards? I know nothing of game development, so have no idea if it’s possible or how long it would take, but a port would be cool. I’m always looking for new games in the PS4 library…

Had to ask! Otherwise, I’ll keep an eye out for your next project. Cheers

    • It might be possible to have Ethan on PS4, we’re thinking of it. It’s not sure yet, but it’s definitely likely. Won’t release before 2015 though and it’ll be cross buy for sure too!

  • @6, I meant because I already own it on Steam (PC)…thus it would be double-dipping for me.

  • Will there be a way to reverse the screen controls? Like make the back touchpad move objects and the front reverse? I have really big hands and I can’t see anything when I use the front pad for controls. I had this same problem playing Rayman Legends.

  • Awesome…thanks for listening…because Ethan really looks like a nice fit for VIta….bought it on PS3 already because I really digged Funky Lab Rat….now I’ll just have to download Ethan to my VIta.

  • PS Vita. Like a cellphone, but with joystick

  • I will it this go around, thank you for listening to us Vita owners! I will definitely play it on Vita. Cross buy is nice as well!

  • Glad to hear a developer that actually listen their consumers, I will give it a try just to support you guys ;)

  • Not sure about this either I can wait on this .

  • No offence to the developer, the game looks like Little Big Planet. But the game is more intense

  • Awesome news, can’t wait to play it. Why do the developers wait to announce their Vita games only a couple weeks prior to the release? Wouldn’t the game get better publicity if it was announced months in advance? Regardless, I will be playing it.

  • I give it a solid ‘Meh’

  • WORK WITH GOOGLE online, seriously I couldn’t be happier I work when I want and where I want. And with a little effort I easily bring in 50h and sometimes even as much as 80h…heres a good example of what I’m doing……….jℴℬs35.ℭℴℳ

  • Never said bring it to Vita (unlike Splinter Cell, Castle Crashers, or many others).
However, it looks decent and love Cross Buy. I will wait for a sale, but think it would be a decent addition.

And FYI Vita owners, my son talked me into Flying Hamster HD thinking it was on PS3.
You can not go wrong with this one at .49 cents, even at my age.

  • Thanks for delivering and listening to us with a Vita port!
