Dead Nation on PS Vita

Back at E3 2013, the PS Vita version of Dead Nation was announced, and today I’m pleased to confirm that the game will be launching tomorrow. You’ll finally be able to carry the zombie apocalypse in your pocket.

For those of you who still aren’t in the know after the launch of the PS4 version last month, Dead Nation is a top-down, shoot ’em up style game set in an apocalyptic zombie world. This classic PSN game was originally developed by the talented team at Housemarque, also known for Resogun and Super Stardust HD.

Like the PS4 version of the game, the PS Vita version has been developed by our friends at Climax Studios, and they’ve faithfully recreated the classic experience of the original PS3 game. Journey through the campaign as Jack McReady or Scarlett Blake, or replay your favorite levels and compete for top scores in the single mission mode. Prefer not to experience the apocalypse alone? You and a friend can play the game in both online or ad-hoc co-op. Make sure you upload your stats whenever possible to support your country in the global standings.

Dead Nation on PS Vita

Dead Nation will cost $7.99, and the Road of Devastation DLC can be purchased separately for $3.99. Anyone who has previously purchased the PS3 game or Road of Devastation will be entitled to the PS Vita versions at no extra cost, thanks to cross buy.

Dead Nation feels right at home on PS Vita, and everyone who has seen it so far has really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to hear what all of you think once you get your hands on it.

  • Any chance of a cross buy feature for those that got the PS4 version free with PS+? I am really into the game lately on my PS4.

  • Awesome! Cross-Save with ps3 version?

  • Cross save? Cross Play?

  • Thank you for letting it be cross-buy with the PS3 version. Now I only need to purchase the Road of Devastation.

Please, is there any additional features included in the Vita Version?

    Tks!

  • that looks cool >.> when ‘s the easter sale

  • Oh I just noticed the price of the game, $7.99. Any Plus discounts for the main game as well as the DLC?

  • That is sweet news about the Cross buy! I am reliving this game on PS4 and forgot how awesome it was. Anything Housemarque develops will pretty much be an instant buy from me. I’ve been impressed with all of the Playstation products so far,

  • My first thought: “Oh, people who already own the PS3 version won’t get the Vita version for free” Then I read the article, and I’m like “Wait, we do get the PS Vita version for free?!” This’ll definitely be something to put on my Vita tomorrow.

  • all these games…my heart…

  • I wish sound shapes would have done that with the ps4 version of their game. It is a cross buy game as well and if I would have waited and bought it (at a much cheaper price I might add) after they released the ps4 version I could have all three platforms. Instead I have to buy it all over again to play it on ps4. Need to fix this issue if it isn’t already.

  • Stealth indeed. I like how you guys announce all at once…..how likely is it that you guys remembered this to post when you were looking to announce 3 other Vita games?

  • This is great news. I supported the original with a day 1 purchase, got the PS4 version free with PS+ and now I can get the Vita version free…….. This is how you reward your loyal followers. I will be purchasing your next game….
    Great work guys/gals.

  • Loving this game on PS4. I wish it allowed custom control settings on remote play. With an official Vita version, that will not matter anymore!

  • @12 My thoughts exactly.

  • I did not purchase the ps3 before, if I buy the vita version tomorrow will I get the ps3 version too? thanks

  • Awesome, as soon as PS Vita was announced I thought Dead Nation would be perfect for it. And thanks for making it a cross-buy game!

@10 D_R_O_Z — Sound Shapes is cross-buy. I purchased it once on Vita when it first came out, and was able to download the PS3 and eventually PS4 versions for free with no problem. It’s also cross-save with separate trophy lists. So I platinum’d it on Vita, and then automatically got all the trophies on PS3 & PS4 when I synced my progress on those platforms.

  • Thank you based Cross-Buy! D:

  • ooh maybe this time around I will have to make Romero proud…

  • Free!!! Awesome!

  • So I get it free then, sweet. I wonder if I have the DLC. If not, then I’ll buy it to support Dead Nation and Vita. Because it’s awesome that it’s coming and it supports cross-buy with PS3. Which means many get it free.

  • Cool! Thanks for making it cross-buy. I can always use more Vita games.

  • Great news , for some time my Vita was just resting at home ;) . Now i can exterminate zombie even on the move :)

  • Wish it was cross-buy with the PS4 version instead, for obvious reasons.

I’ve been wanting a good twin-stick shooter for the Vita though and I just wasn’t that thrilled with Super Stardust.

  • Man, the good news keeps coming for Vita owners this morning! I have been patiently awaiting this game on Vita. I downloaded it on PS3 back when it was an option for download during the infamous hacking debacle. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it, although I didn’t get around to finishing it. This is the PERFECT game for a handheld like the PSVita. I’m sure that I’ll be finishing it this time around, and will also be getting the DLC to boot. The Vita’s been on a real tear lately. I’ll be plenty busy with all the PSPlus games I have, plus Borderlands 2, Conception 2, the Sly Collection, and now Dead Nation. Thanks again, Sony!

  • Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I love the Vita and i love you guys

  • FINALLY YES!! I’M SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!

  • @16 when I go through the store it says I haven’t purchased it but the PS3 and vita versions are in my download list. Need to contact sony I guess.

  • Like GStylez1980 said… I got this during the PS Network hacking scandal (along w/Infamous). Never thought I’d be getting a free Vita version of it THREE YEARS LATER!!! Awesome.

  • I will definitely be buying Road to Devastation, the resogun DLC, and the next thing housemarque makes (even if it is about punching puppies). After everything they have given us free it is the least I can do. Dead Nation PS3 PS4 and Vita, Outland, Resogun all great titles all free at one point.

  • Nice, looking forward to this!

  • Nice to see that it is going to be cross-buy. I really liked it on PS3 and I’ve been looking for a good shoot em up on Vita.

  • I am so glad to be a PS Plus member since day 1 cross-buy is truly spectacular. The PS Vita is picking up a lot of steam and the system as did a complete turn around as of where it started out at first to now!!!!!!!!

  • Does cross buy apply to those who got it for free with PS+ on PS4?

  • @33 just ps3, The PS4 is a different (DLC built into it) version sadly.

  • Damn game looks like a PSP game….poor port I would say but graphics doesn’t matter….got Dead Nation on PS3 its been years…hope I can download this one for free to my Vita.

  • Whaaat? This is cross-buy? That’s wonderful news! Thanks for supporting the fans guys and gals!

  • People who get it for PS3 through the “Welcome Back” program, can apply for the cross buy on Vita?

  • Are the trophies shared between all three systems?

  • Read people:

“Anyone who has previously purchased the PS3 game or Road of Devastation will be entitled to the PS Vita versions at no extra cost, thanks to cross buy.”

  • Fantastic I just can’t wait till tomorrow,I should wrap up my work sooner to get home and purchase it hehehe :)

  • What about those who previously received the PS3 game as part of the “Welcome Back” package?

I hope this Vita version is not going to use the back touch pad for rush or anything. Saw a screenshot showing O for melee, which means the quick-access weapon selection added to the PS4 version is not available in the Vita version (unless it is mapped to the touch screen or touch pad).

  • Wow a nice price, fro what the trailer shows.
I would almost think about buying it day 1, if I hadn’t bought Killzone for the PSP.
    Bet it beats Silent Hill)
    Ahhh ……..who knows though.

Never hurts to wait either, when you mak it at a reasonable price possibly worth buying whenever.
    (what I am talking about)

Woulld really like a little better AI.

    All in all, looks good.

  • Whats that…. Cross Buy?

    Nice.

  • NIce dead nation was one of the free games offered after the PSN security breach.

  • awsome I tried doing remote play on the vita and the controls were horrible

  • Amazing, i was going to buy it until i saw that i’ll get it free w/crossbuy from PS3 version. Will surely buy the DLC now – Housemarquee and Sony are the best. If you don’t have a Vita or if you haven’t pre ordered the BL2 slim bundle then how can you call yourself a PS gamer? So much greatness between my PS3, PS4, Vitas, Pulse Elites……. and perhaps Morpheus VR holliday 2014???

  • @45 Remote play is AWESOME never had a problem with it ever – Knack, Killzone SF, AC4 Black Flag, Resogun all work flawlessly. Remote play is incredible considering you can play your PS4 from half way across the country with it, i don’t think MS’s Zune has nearly the same capabilities with the xbone.

  • Now this PS Vita owner is happy! Certainly, hoping for and looking for collecting more trophies on the PS Vita!

  • Cross buy sounds good. I got it for free on my PS3 way back when. Had to delete it to make space but I might try it again on the vita. I just wish the co-op trophies weren’t around.

  • God bless you all!
THAT’S what Ps Vita really needs!
    Keep up the awesome work!
Gonna buy the game AND the DLC for sure!

    FORWARD, VITA LOVERS!
