Skullgirls Encore boasts some really unique characters. This fighter’s roster is comprised of mainly females (hence, “Skullgirls” and not “Skullpeople”) and includes really oddball personalities. There’s Cerebella, an orphaned circus performer who happens to have a kick-ass living hat with massive arms, the feline-esque Ms. Fortune who cannot die since she swallowed a Life Gem (making dismemberment part of her playstyle), and Double, an amorphous character that can transform into anything, but usually hangs out in as a nun. The game has a fantastic art style, and the Encore version includes gameplay updates, balance changes and new stages and music.

For some months, I find myself not touching any IGC games, but mainly playing games I’ve bought on ps+ sale. So I’d say PS+ is worth to some extent, if not for free games.

“Dust 514” is a Dead Game, as in CCP has already decided to abandon it over another iteration called “Legion.” Why does Playstation continue to promote a game made by a company as bad as CCP. I think it’s wrong to entice people to spend money on an online only game that looks like it never left the “Beta” stage, yet charge money for it.

Even as a clone character of the poster child Filia, I find myself enjoying her moves more, and she immediately became a favorite of mine to just drop into battle with. What’s more, this actual-for-realsies-gaiz release sees her with…a story mode?! No time to play through it now, but I think I get what they’re going for with it.
So hey, one more for the roster! Her icon only shows up when you scroll over it, but should you glimpse it, give ‘er a go!
@PainOfSarrow Sorry but no. Most of the indies I’ve tried feel like they belong on a tablet or phone. I don’t like that trash on consoles. Sucky week for plus, as usual. Such a shame because April was pretty bad too. Hopefully June is decent.

@ 103 – No! It was already out for PS3 a while ago.
MMO’s like DCUO, Defiance and Dust are just too annoying for me in terms of all the updates, memory requirements, etc. I like about 2/3 of the indie games, but it’s the “bigger” games I never would have tried that have made plus worth it: Metro Last Light, Tomb Raider, etc. I think there are hidden indie gems, but I’d sure like to see things going back to two bigger games and one indie game a month. I’m not complaining… that’s just my vote :-)
Glad to see some discounts on the expansions for DCUO but where are the retail sales for PS4? I’m really trying to be patient but we’re almost halfway through the year and we’ve seen bugger all…

I know it’s cheaper for you to get the rights to distribute indie games, but, if the only reason there are large numbers of downloads for those titles is because you foist them off on your paid subscribers, that’s like saying that Super Mario Bros. was the best-selling Nintendo game of all time.
You hear it from dozens of people, every week, every single blog post, but you simply don’t care, or you aren’t listening.
If my view on PS+ hadn’t shifted from it being a service that provides “free” games with a paid subscription, to it being a discount service, not unlike a pharmacy card, I would regret being a subscriber. Your sales for PS+ members has redeemed the program, but, if you keep going like this, I might just buy the games I got “for free” for five or ten bucks, and let my subscription run out.
I DEFINITELY would not be signing up as a new subscriber, if I had to go off of the terrible indie crap you keep force-feeding everyone.

I didn’t see this in last week’s PS Update when Persona 3 FES went on sale but I notice Persona 3 Portable drop in price when I last checked from $19.99 to $4.99. I just picked it up to play on my Vita even though I already have FES.

Skullgirls is not fun for me. Not only are 3 button fighters awkward on the ps controller (took a while to overcome this), but this one has so many over the top animations for each character I get them mixed up on screen. All the morphing and the jostling… Just another manic multi-hit combo based cartoon fighter.
I just wish there were more awesome things coming out for PS4…

Just letting those know that may be interested in the costume pack for DOAU5, the $10 pack, that I bought that last night and for some reason it gave me 1 of the scenes instead. Receipt and purchase clearly state the correct amount and pack but for some reason when I went to download the scene is what I got. Turned PS3 off and tried again and it just looks like I purchased scene and not costumes. Even checked on the web store and got the same thing even though both my credit card and psn account are still showing the correct $10 purchase.
Just wanted to let people know so maybe they wanna wait a lil while before purchasing that pack. Will be calling psn this am so hopefully it can be resolved and will let everyone know

I can definitely sympathise with everyone’s feelings on the indie titles – I’d rather be getting something more along the lines of Atelier-something or Hyperdimension Neptunia, as my JRPG collection could use a boost right now. Mind you, I love that I got a copy of Merc Kings previously, but I also wouldn’t mind getting some older stuff like Vanquished, 3D Dot Heroes, or something like Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce…….something I cant sink some serious hours into.
That all said, I had previously tried Skullgirls on one of Steam’s free weekends and I wasn’t overly-impressed with it (though I blame my PC controller). I went into this week’s PSN+ offering feeling kinda “meh” about getting a PS3 copy of the game, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised that it seems to be a rather fun and competent little fighter – enough so that I’m even itching to grab the $10 of DLC. I’m glad I got it & I’ll probably be giving it some of my time in the near-future~

Recently Skullgirls: Encore …
I downloaded it, played it for a while, then immediately deleted it. It is absolutely horrible, so much so I don’t even want it on my Playstation for FREE.
I literally LOL’d at it. I can’t even put it into words how bad this game is… just the Worst fighting game i have ever played. Admittedly i’m not a Huge fighting game fan, but I very much enjoy some Marvel vs Capcom, Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, Mortal Combat, Injustice, Killer Instinct, Virtua Fighter, etc etc. I am not unfamiliar with the genre, so I think its safe to say I have some knowledge as to what makes at least decent fighting game. Skullgirls is tremendous horror. Thank goodness i didn’t pay a cent for trying it and got a laugh.
