The Drop: New PlayStation Games for 5/20/2014
The Drop

A futuristic city besieged by a strange enemy in Transistor, and a timeline wrought with terror in Wolfenstein: The New Order; all this and more comes to PlayStation this week.

The hotly-anticipated action RPG Transistor arrives on PS4 this Tuesday, telling the melancholic story of Red — a singer without a voice wielding an enigmatic weapon. Face enemies known as The Process and work to uncover the mystery behind Red’s fate, and what evils have been cast against the sprawling city of Cloudbank.

In the mood for an old-school FPS? The legendary series makes a triumphant return in the form of Wolfenstein: The New Order. As super soldier B.J. Blazkowicz, fight against a ruthless empire using different combat tactics and rewrite history itself.

For a complete list of games coming to PlayStation, read on. And enjoy the Drop!

PS3 — Digital, Retail
A prequel to the original Drakengard, Drakengard 3 transports players to a medieval world where six sisters wield special magical abilities. These women have brought peace to the earth with their power. Harmony is disrupted, however, when the eldest sister, Zero, attempts to murder her younger siblings.

NEO PLANET
PSone Import — Digital

R-Type Dimensions
PS3 — Digital
The coin-op classics, R-Type and R-Type II, are together on PlayStation. Fight through all 14 Bydo-infested stages in retro 2D graphics or shiny 3D graphics — and swap back and forth with the touch of a button. Accompanied by fully re-imagined arrangements of the timeless R-Type music tracks.

  • I can’t wait for E3, it’s gonna be great not just for Sony, but for Nintendo and Microsoft as well.

  • Nice Drop! Looking forward to R-Type!

  • hmm, nothing great for Vita this week. Oh well, I’m hooked on Borderlands 2 and Destiny of Spirits anyway, and Sly Collection is out at the end of the month.

I might get that import pinball game, if the filesize isn’t too big and the load times aren’t very long in whatever youtube videos I can find. I love pinball.

  • Yay for more great japanese games that i will have to blindly hit tabs and hope to understand what i am doing with time.

  • Also, my Vita store wish list for North America is still:

    PSOne –
    Heart of Darkness
    Einhander
    Brave Fencer Musashi
    Silhouette Mirage
    Breath of Fire III
    Skullmonkeys

    PSP-
    Final Fantasy I remake
    Final Fantasy II remake

Shut up and take my money.

  • Oh and Raystorm for PSOne.

  • Nice surprise, DDS is for this week. Hopefully we’ll get the sequel next week.

  • wow at last transistor is here cant wait to play this..

  • What, do you WANT me to go broke? Do you? You guys keep not only releasing great newer titles but are on an absolute role with classic titles. We’ve had FOUR Megami Tensei titles in the last couple months including the two best in the series, we’ve got a pile of great PSOne titles (Herc’s Adventure, Pac Man World, Gex 2). You run an absolutely insane sale on ps1 and ps2 titles a few weeks ago.

you guys are on fire. And I guess it’s a safe bet that the second DDDS game and the second Devil Summoner on the horizon so that’s two more. And I can only assume that even more Atlus titles are inbound.

  • With drakengard 3 coming out soon i feel like drakengard 1 and 2 should be ps2 classics or at least drakengard 1. Personally, I also think that the eureka 7 games and beat down:fists of vengeance should be in the ps2 classics and ehrgeiz, bushido blade 1 and 2, the megaman x games, quake 2 and spiderman should be in the ps1 classics as well as support for more classics on vita like bloody roar.

  • please bring Vandal Hearts 1 + 2 and Suikoden 2 to PSN

    keep up the good work!

  • Ah snap, it’s Wolfenstein: The New Order. I’m looking forward to shootin things in that game.

  • I hate to DROP some bad news but there appears to be a problem with the God of War Collection on the Vita. Several people have reported that some of the trophies are not popping up. This happened to me also but it seems to only happen after the Vita was placed in sleep mode. Hopefully this will help some people out until they can patch it. Good day everyone!

  • So does preloading disappointingly only work with select games?

  • Ryan,

I’m definitely getting Transistor but do you happen to know what will be the first game that we can preload? I thought with firmware 1.7 any game that you preorder, we were able to preload?

    Thanks!

  • thank you for digital devil saga pure awesomeness and one of (or two) best rpgs ever made. BUT where is Suikoden II?

  • Do you know what new sales we can expect this week?

  • @19 first pre load is watch dogs. I’m not sure if they will allow it for all others afterwards but they said that WD would be the first.

  • @22. Damn it, really? this really sucks.

  • @22 – the first PS4 game to preload in North America is Watch Dogs. Drakengard 3 for PS3 is the first preload for PS3. It really is a nice feature to download it before release so it’s ready to go on launch day. Hopefully all large preorders will have a preload option

  • Getting Transistor this week.

And great that we’re seeing more SMT games coming. Keep it up!

  • Still waiting for Suikoden 2!

  • I know this likely won’t be answered, but is it possible for PSVita to one day run PS2 classics? Or are PS2 classics designed for PS3’s cell processor?

  • Will Wolfenstein be available to pre-download ahead of launch?

  • Sony could you please give us a release datche for TLOU on PS4,besides watchdogs thettingere is not much to play on the PS4.Tomb Raider,Outlast and Killzone are getting boring Naughty Dog said in Edge magazine that the the game was finished at least give us a release date thank you.

  • Sorry for the spelling keyboard acting up.Release TLOU on the PS4

  • Never mind. Looks like Watch Dogs will be first pre-load game.

  • Digital Devil Saga finally on PSN? Day Zero Buy.

  • My fun sense is tingling…or does that only work if a Spiderman game was released v_v

  • TRAAAANNNSISTOR!!!! Seems like it will be good for remote play as well.

  • @26 Pabloo1010, You will be able to play PS2 games on PS Vita once “PlayStation Now” comes out this summer.

  • Transistor! Can’t wait!! :D
Is there a pre-order bonus at all? :)

  • @18 yup, select titles only. So expect it to be full games only and not all of them. Useless for me.

Please put prices on the drop.

  • Wow. Absolutely nothing this week. Hopefully the Tuesday update list is better… I mean, wow. This is awful. That FTP sale last week was horrible, and now there is NO sale this week? Why does EU get the great stuff? They are having an amazing sale this week and we get nothing. As usual.

Now, If I may, here are some Classics you need to add:

    1. Ape Escape (Why this being a first party title that sold perfect and is highly requested, but not on the store, is beyond me)
    2. Ape Escape 2 and 3
    3. Obscure
    4. Obscure: the aftermath (2)
    5. Silent Hill 4: The Room
    6. Resident Evil Outbreak
    7. The Urbz: Sims In The City

Come on sony, make this happen.

  • Am buying Transistor, Drakengard 3, and Mugen Souls Z…. lol i feel the hurt from my wallet xD

  • Btw i need more friends on my list if you like jrps and anime etc please add me xD!!!

  • jrpg* =P

  • @35,

Playstation Now won’t be great for everyone. Id greatly prefer digital PS2 classics on vita that are local. I don’t want to be forced to stream them. Not everyones connections are super fast, and its been proven over and over that Vita is more powerful than the PS3 in almost every aspect except its physical media.

The Vita running PS2 classics shouldn’t be an issue at all.

  • Better be some good sales.

Last two weeks have been seriously week.

  • Deinately hear you @42

Not a fan of streaming either. Another reason I will not switch to PS3.

    ugh, and I meant weak.

  • PS 4….sighs….

Been cursed with too many thought bubbles

  • Drakengard 3 for me this week. Will hopefully be able to get Wolfenstein, Mugen Souls Z and Transistor soon.

  • Would it kill you to have a better / larger sale on PSP , PSOne , PS2.

    And keep adding.

  • I’m looking forward to Watch_Dogs next week ^^

  • No demo for Transistor? :(

  • Drakengard 3, Transistor, and Wolfenstien…. combine that with LAIR and FF14….. going to be a loaded week.
