Battlefield 3 for PS3

If you’re a PlayStation owner and curious about the all-out warfare in Battlefield 4, you’re in for a treat.

PS3 owners with a PlayStation Plus membership in North America can experience DICE’s action shooter for free. A trial version of Battlefield 4 will be available for download starting tomorrow, May 27th, on the PlayStation Store.

The free trial version contains the full Battlefield 4 base game and will be available for 20 hours from the first moment you boot up the game. To download, simply head to PlayStation Store, search for Battlefield 4, and locate the trial version.

Why you should give Battlefield 4 a try:

Intense Multiplayer: Nothing compares to the scale and scope of Battlefield 4’s multiplayer. Enjoy the all-time classic Conquest or Rush modes, plant a bomb in Obliteration, or show your skills in the fast-paced world of Domination.

Vehicle Warfare: Tanks, boats, jets, and helis — the vehicular warfare delivers all that you need to dominate multiplayer matches.

Destruction: Change the face of battle with levolution and experience destruction both big and small. Take down an entire skyscraper or kill the lights in a building to shroud your enemy in darkness.

  • Is it fixed?

  • I was almost excited just reading the headline, i thought that this will make up for the crappy 2 months of IGC… but it is for only for 20 hours… booo

    • We hope you can join us on the Battlefield. 20 hours should be good to give you a taste of the game, and let you experience some really crazy moments. If you happen to test it out, let me know what part of it you liked the most?

  • I thought APRIL FOOLS were only on April, it’s already May!! What a “MISLEADING TITLE”…. Just when I thought it’s gonna replace the yearly ps3 ps plus, then everything went down the drain…

  • Well at least their tweet was honest…

  • Dangisuckatgamin

Don’t get the hate.. be happy your getting it for 20 hours honestly.
Not to mention i’d rather have something else than a FPS MP game as the free game anyways…

  • Should really be Free*

  • Thx, but no thx. I dunno if I want to download and play it.
    p.s: Title is misleading.

  • Play Battlefield 4 for Free (20 hours) on PS3 Tomorrow with PS Plus

  • No love for PS4?

  • i hope this isn’t taking the place of out ps plus discounts this week or something. I have no interest in this after experiencing how boring BF3 was when it was free for plus last year. It had one of the worst single player campaigns i’ve ever seen in a shooter. Even the worst CoD games (Ghosts, MW3) had more life in their story modes.

  • is this already the weekly update?

  • Booo. First, very misleading title.
Second, 20 hours from first start? Not accumulative?

Meaning you start playing at 4:00pm and get to play til 5:30 when dinner is, put kids in bath, kids to bed its 8:30 get to play for another 1-1 1/2 hours until bed because I have to get up at 3:30am come. Get off work come back to play at 3:00pm only to find out that it expired at noon. Got a whooping 2-3 hour demo.

WOOT what a deal. That makes me want to buy it even more now.

  • I would rather they take out the sp part of the game and give that as IGC.

For that matter, EA/Activision should take out the sp from BF/COD and sell them as standalone games ($5-10). Surely if someone likes the sp, he is more likely to buy the mp, rt? (Sp is basically an afterthought in these games anyway – as an extended tutorial or showcase, to create maps that people can play on mp, and to attract people into the mp.) This is tapping into the market of people who would otherwise not buy the whole game at all.

  • Is that enough time to beat the campaign?

  • Man, the level of ungreatfulness is astonishing. And i knew what the title meant. You’re only paying $50 a yr, and yet expecting the world. Be happy you are even getting it. And stop your ungreatful complaining, you whiny little brats.

  • @15 I’m still laughing about you not knowing how to spell “ungrateful. ” Sorry I’m not filled with greatness.

  • I will be able to play 20 hours total (even if i stop playing and start again later) or a 20 hours time lapse begining when i start to play?

    • Correct! You’ll be able to play for 20 hours of total, at your own convenience, which means that you definitely can put down the controller whenever you need to.

  • I don’t get a recently released game on PSplus. My life is over.

  • What is the file size some 30gb or so?

For a second I thought it was totally free to keep than read the article and saw that it is for only 20 hours. Just wondering would that be enough time to finish the single player and achieve some trophies or the trial wouldn’t have this option?

  • Size is 11gb

Trophies don’t show for trials, you get the notification but nobody can see them but you.

  • Technically the title isn’t wrong. It says you can play it for free tomorrow – just “tomorrow”, not “starting from tomorrow”, not “every day after tomorrow”. All they did was shortchanged you 4 hrs :D

  • Not a big fan of these sorts of games, but free is free. Sounds like 20 hours should be more than enough time to play through the campaign.

  • 20 hours should be enough to run all the campaing and take some hours of multiplayer but all in a intense marathon bf4 day.

    • If you’re going for a marathon, be sure to do it with good friends, and of course to take some well-needed breaks whenever needed. Hope you’ll have fun!

  • The campaign for BF3 did suck immensely, not even really worth remembering. But BF4 is actually pretty good. Has 3 endings, although they aren’t really too big in themselves, but getting each one gets you another gun for use in multiplayer.

20 hours is fairly weak considering how peoples’ schedules may be, but it’s still better than the usual hour for trials. Worth trying if you haven’t played it yet.

    • Is there anything in particular that caught your interest about the Single Player Campaign in Battlefield 4?

  • SUPER_MARIO_1027

2o hrs of gameplay or 20 hrs total?

  • We get a free 20-hr rent is what you meant.

  • This is a pretty good deal considering the game trials are only an hour long. I’m also guessing it’ll work just like the trials meaning once you start your 20 hours, it’ll run through continuously even if you’re not playing the game, so make sure you have a good chunk of time you can set aside for the game.

  • Did they finally fix the netcode, rubberbanding, 1 hit kill and the all the other glitches and lag?

    • We’ve addressed the rubber banding issues some players had, and we’ve also recently launched the Battlefield 4 Community Test Environment where we’re doing testing on the netcode together with our community. So far we’ve had good progress!

  • @28, the games fixed now, well atleast on PS4 it is now

  • ps4 version would’ve been nice.

  • Well this is okay for those that want to play it but quite honestly with all the problems this game is still having this is the worst next gen game.

  • Why not wait until the game its fix to release a trial? ooohh wait they need more testers, the game still a mess on PS4.(don’t know on PS3)

  • Essentially an extended trial. Meh. We’ve had this game for awhile.

    • Have you had the opportunity to play it yet, and if so, is there anythingt in particular that you liked or would have liked to be different?

  • Gave up on Battlefield 4, the game was just too broken to put anymore time into. Hopefully they learned their lesson for the next game and not rush titles out before their ready.

  • Will we still earn trophies during the trial?

ps: (I wish you were running the same trial on ps4)

  • my360broke_again

yeah. if you try it you will buy it. I have played BF4 more than any game ever. and I have been gaming for the last 22 years.
I am nearly nearly 300 hours in BF4 and tons of people have WAY more than me.

    • Happy to see a fellow Battlefield player! Having put nearly 300 hours into the game, you’ve probably experienced a few really cool moments. Care to share any of those? Would love to read.

  • “Vehicle Warfare: Tanks, boats, jets, and helis — the vehicular warfare delivers all that you need to dominate multiplayer matches.”

Haven’t played it in a while but, aren’t jets & helis locked to DLC or is it just certain ones that are locked?

  • Yup thats how you do…copied n’ pasted games should come for free….I always said I would get this game only for free…but not a trial….the full game….will wait for it on the IGC…it’ll come eventually.

  • they really didnt fix much the sound still cuts in and out it can get ge really laggy there alot of glitches on alot of the maps where people and kill u from and stuff

  • whats going on with plus it keeps giving us half games this 20 hours demo and 20 percent of drive club included in the plus edtion (the 10 dollar discount is good though)

  • vincent: SERBIA?

  • @Vincent Vukovic (blog author). Please confirm how the 20-hour trial timer works. Is it a running timer once you start the game, regardless if you’re in the game or not? Or, 20-hours of actual time spent in the game that can be spread across multiple days?

  • can we get another chance to get it?

  • When I tried to download from the store, it gave me the waring that the timer won’t be stopped… is that true?

  • So its available for North America only? Sad… was hopping I can try the game but nop…

  • Ugh. No more players please. The servers are already lagged out.

  • Do stats transfer to the retail game, and do you get trophies in this trial or no?

  • Very disappointed! Last night I wanted to try Battlefield, but I had to download a 600+ mb update that took almost 50 minutes. In the mean time, something came up, so when the download was finished I turned off my system thinking that since I didn’t even bring up the title screen, I would be able to try the game tonight. Now I go to play it and it says that my time has expired. Never even got a chance to see the intro menu! What a waste. I was really looking forward to trying this because I wasn’t sure if I would like it. Lokks like I don’t have to worry about it now. Worst “trial” ever!

  • Oh, and by the way, STOP TELLING PEOPLE THAT IT’S “20 HOURS OF ACTUALLY PLAYING THE GAME” which is obviously wrong.
