Escape Dead Island Coming to PS3

We’re pleased to announce that Escape Dead Island is coming to PS3, a whole new survival-mystery game with a fresh perspective on the Dead Island universe.

Escape Dead Island Coming to PS3

Escape represents a crucial bridge between the events of Dead Island and Dead Island 2, and will finally reveal the origins of the virus, even some tantalizing clues where the events are going to lead… but it’s going to be up to you to decide what to believe. That’s because this story-driven, single-player game is played through the eyes of Cliff Calo, who’s watching his world unravel.

Cliff is the spoiled son of a powerful media mogul who has stolen a yacht with his friends determined to film the documentary of the century: exposing the truth about the Banoi outbreak to the public. Their plan: infiltrate the archipelago’s top-secret quarantined island of Narapela and document everything.

Players will freely explore this all-new island, sneaking to avoid undead that can hear and smell you. But even this island full of zombies isn’t what it appears to be on the surface.

Cliff struggles with his own sanity as the world around him begins to become increasingly unpredictable. Time distorts and folds in on itself; strange messages appear and impossible events shatter reality. Oceans turn to blood, containers plummet from the clear sky… If Cliff had any thoughts about this being a routine documentary, he’d be “dead” wrong.

The whole experience is vividly realized with comic-inspired visuals that complement Cliff’s surreal situation, delivering on Dead Island’s promise of a paradise gone to hell. In the case of Escape, it turns out to be a particularly private hell.

What are the true origins of the virus? What is real in this bizarre place? What are you going to believe? We can’t wait for you to get your hands on Escape Dead Island later this year to find out!

  • I would like to see the original added to the IGC some day.

  • Looks great! I can’t wait to get my hands on this one

  • NO THANKS!!! Enough with the stalemate ZOMBIE games…

add some spark if you want an above average run of the mill zombie game…

these undead carbon copy games are getting extremely boring and redundant…

make a new game… because they’re developers that do ZOMBIES 100X better than you’ll ever do.

  • Who is developing this? It certainly does seem like Techland or Yager….

  • Awesome! I like the new style, I hope 2 doesn’t look like this though.

    • Nope! Escape Dead Island has a very distinct comic-inspired art style, which plays into all of the story elements of the game.

  • I just dawned on me that this is 3rd person, I REALLY hope Dead Island 2 is as well.

  • Is this a full retail game or downloadable?

    • It’s a full boxed retail game that will also be available on PSN. $39.99 for either version.

  • IDK how i feel about this being centered around stealth. im not a fan of stealth only games. i also hope you can to still level up and have a skill tree or is that all gone.

    • The beginning of the game is very stealth focused, since you don’t have a weapon and aren’t immune to the virus. As you progress in the game, you’ll gain more inventory and fight bosses, etc. Though stealth will become less of a necessity, you’ll need to be heavily tactical in how you approach situations since your character is much more vulnerable.

  • I’m sorry to say that this looks sort of cool but, it also looks like a spin-off. I liked the classic feel of the previous dead islands. So this D.I. will have to be in my no list, 30% chance I’d pick this up. However, I never tried this, I see the game on how good it looks rather than how good it is.

    Third Person!! That’s NICE!!!

When I saw the trailer of the first Dead Island, It was so amazing… but when they revealed that the game was in First Person, I was so disappointed, now I’m really interested in this new one :D

  • Well that’s a huge surprise! Love the comic art style and the fact that it is third person. I’m definitely buying this :D

Looks decent, but $40? I’ll pass.
I’ll wait for a price drop.

  • Is this coming out on PS4 sometime? I would rather play it on that console actually.

  • Third person Dead Island? Nice. This game reminds me to Eternal Darkness and Killer7 in its surreal style. Looks amazing so far so I’ll keep my eye on it.

  • So basically you’r admitting that Dead Island Riptide sck’ed. Since you’r just mentioning the bridge between DI and DI2. Okay neither bothered with Riptide though…

  • Wow, for a mediocre franchise you guys are doing a good job milking it. From what I understand, there’s three Dead Island games in development yes? None of them are developed by Techland yes?

  • People are such idiots and over use the word “milk” so much now.
Dead Island 2, Escape and the MOBA are all made by different developers so they aren’t just pooping them out unfinished.
At least these games are all completely different and have variety, unlike other series (Mario, Final Fantasy, Cod, etc.) that release very often with little to no changes.

Anyway, I’m excited to see this new take on the series with this title. Great work Deep Silver!

  • Why not for PS4? PS4 is kind of dry. :(

  • Wow I LOVED that art concept. can’t wait to get my hands on this! I would’ve rather played it on PS4 but still I’m sold!

  • Seems overpriced at $40. From an unknown dev. When I can get Dead Island 2 and playin #@!#@! california for only a few bucks more..

  • Lead and Gold was an amazing game, got that from PS+ and loved it. Will be sure to check this out.

  • This looks cool and liked Lead & Gold a lot, I got it from PlayStation Plus a few years ago. I enjoyed playing Dead island riptide in the PSNOW beta also, TY!!

  • Call me crazy…

But I think I see the same carpet/rug pattern as The Shining in this trailer.
If that’s intentional , I’m going to like where this story is going :-)

    • Great eye!! And you are correct…. regarding the carpet at least. You’ll have to play the game to find out any story spoilers :)

  • This should also be on the PS Vita… please. ;)

  • Will this ever come to PS4? I’d buy it day 1 if it did.

  • Getting a bit of Dead Island overload. I’d rather they just focus on a single product than constantly throwing out new spin offs.

  • That walking dead Telltale look

  • @ 27: That borderlands look, although I never played it (ordered it last week, on it’s way now).

  • @17

What? None of the franchises you mentioned comes out “unfinished” and with lack of variety. Also, how do you know whether these Dead Island games comes out “finished” or not, they’re not even out yet. FYI, in case you haven’t noticed, Mario Kart is very different from Mario Party and is just as different from New Super Mario, etc. Just like Final Fantasy Tactics, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Crisis Core, FF Agito, etc are all different. I mean heck, even the main Final Fantasy series is really different from one another. As for CoD, they’re made by different developers so your claim about it being “unfinished” is quite moot, although I do agree they’re kind of similar to one another.

I’m not saying that these franchises aren’t being milked but you’re not making any sense… at all…

The way I see it, if a lot of games are coming out where none of them are made by the original developer, it’s a sign it’s being heavily milked.

  • Great this looks good…awesome idea going 3rd person…now that the game is 3rd person, may it have a chance to be a good game….and it looks promising.Would like to see a demo for this since none of the Dead Island games had demos.

  • looks like borderlands.. intrigued to shrekitout!!!
