UPDATE: If you want to upgrade your PlayStation digital preorder of Destiny to the new Digital Guardian Edition, head to PlayStation Store and the price should reflect the difference. For those who haven’t preordered any digital version, you’ll see the full price of $89.99.

It’s Bungie Day. You want information. You want answers! You want the truth. Here goes…

If all you need from Destiny is a grand adventure that sends you to the stars in search of your own personal legend, we’ve got you more than covered. If you’ve played Bungie games in the past, you’re not prepared for the scope and the scale of this next-gen shooter.

However! If you crave more ways to express your inner Guardian, we’ve also got you covered. Destiny is all about collecting loot, after all. The treasures you claim on your missions will enhance your experience. They’ll make you a unique warrior in a brave new world worthy of heroes. They’ll deepen your understanding of the journey. This is as true for the Guardian that kicks alien ass it is for the player that drives them forward.

Be you a Guardian or a collector, there is a version of Destiny for you. Check ‘em out.

There better be an upgrade option or this is the first and last game I pre-order from PSN.

For those looking to upgrade their digital preorders, myself included, it looks like this option is now live. In the What’s New section of my PS4 I was linked to a $29.99 upgrade to the Digital Guardian Edition.

+ VoltaOne on July 7th, 2014 at 4:44 pm said:

I can confirm, I see an upgrade option for 29.99 on my ps4 timeline. However I don’t see it in the store.

+ OysterPrime on July 7th, 2014 at 4:53 pm said:

I also see the upgrade. If you go to the Destiny product page in the PS Store and scroll down to Bundles, you should see the Digital Guardian Edition for $29.99.

Yup, sure enough, upgraded.

Phew.

This was *really* poorly handled from a messaging perspective, but at least it was only that.

Rock on, happy Bungie day!

+ MattAndersn on July 7th, 2014 at 5:13 pm said:

I bought the upgrade option, but when I add it to my download queue it is still just the standard version. I’m not sure if this matters or not.

108

+ prencher on July 7th, 2014 at 5:19 pm said:

@MattAndersn It does not, it’s just an authorization, similar to a season pass or other DLC. You’re good to go.

112

+ OysterPrime on July 7th, 2014 at 6:15 pm said:

@MmaFanQc: You can. Look at previous posts to see how to buy the upgrade.

If you buy the digital version are you supposed to get a beta code like with the retail versions or is it automatic?

Dear Playstation,

What does the asterisk mean in this phrase under the Digital Guarding Edition?

Includes the Destiny Expansion Pass*

Please tell me that doesn’t mean “only kidding” or “for another $10 dollars later”

I appreciate Sony responding so quickly to the changing world of digital purchases and pre-orders. They did a great job responding to the Last of Us price change and now with Destiny. I upgraded to the Deluxe without a hitch. Thanks!

Its not that hard to figure this out. If you are so worried about your beta key do the following:

1. Go to Amazon and Preorder the game. Have to pay nothing to do this
2. WIthin 30 minutes you will have a beta code in your email
3. Go to bungie and sign up for the beta
4. Cancel preorder

There, not so hard to figure out.

Read the article during lunch and I cannot seem to find any differences between the two other than that the Guardian pack got expansions, is that it? Also, will the expansions (guess not?) be available at launch? Kinda sounds like it but then again it doesn’t.

Appreciate answers, thanks.

I need some clarification. Game stop has the limited edition sparrow bike. Is that included in this as well? Also is vanguard exclusive to all editions.

if we upgrade our destiny package do we still get the physical items. if so, how will they be delivered

140

+ YevinOrion on July 8th, 2014 at 8:29 am said:

@kenbladex I think the bike is a GameStop exclusive. The Vanguard items are given to ALL pre-orders, even standard versions.

@darkalterkazuma Are you referring to the digital upgrade? If so, no, it’s an upgrade to the Digital Guardian Edition that includes the exclusive CE Ghost Casing, Player Ship, and Player Emblem along with access to Expansion 1 and 2 and the Vanguard items and pre-order Player Emblem. No physical items are included.
