Every few months, something magical happens here at Square Enix. While we’re watching all of you adventurers, fighting your way through Eorzea, we think to ourselves “We should give them more. We can give them more. It’s been three months already!” – and then, in a secret and mysterious ceremony, High Priest of the Code Yoshida-san gets the dev team together, places a development PC in a magic circle, together with some Final Fantasy artifacts, energy drinks and fast food, and, using ancient magic, summons forth a mighty content update!
Well, ok. There may be a lot more actual work and a bit less actual magic involved. But that doesn’t change the fact that as you are reading this, the update has just been applied to the servers! Also, I’d really love to see the scene described above in art form – any artists reading this…?

When you next log into the game, you will…
- Continue your story in the main scenario and learn more about the dangers from which you have to defend Eorzea!
- Tackle new side story quests, giving you a deeper insight into the lore of the world.
- Fight for your Grand Company in Frontline, the brand new three-faction PvP mode with up to 72 players in the same battle!
- Fight your way up the Syrcus Tower in the Crystal Tower, defeating enemies that the long-time Final Fantasy fans among you might remember dearly!
- Discover why you have to fight Ramuh, the Lord of Levin, widely renowned as the wisest of the Primals.
- Make your way through the new Hard mode versions of the Tam-Tara Deepcroft and the Stone Vigil dungeons.
- Explore the brand-new, stunning outdoor dungeon Hullbreaker Isle.
- Hunt down the most notorious feral beasts that have ever plagued Eorzea.
- Raise and train your Chocobo and make him the very best, like no Chocobo ever was!
- Relax in your brand-new private chambers in your Free Company’s house.

Man, all that looks awesome. I just started playing again after not touching FFXIV since shortly after the PC launch of the original version, so none of this really applies to me yet, but I’m really looking forward to getting to that point. You guys have made a fantastic game, keep up the great work.

Is this the update that allows for gay marriage?
I gave up on this game when 3 million gil disappeared for no reason. Then when i spoke to customer service many times i was finally told that the game restore people would be able to look back and see what happen to my gil and restore it. After going thru all the issues of contacting them, they reply back to me they dont offer that type of game restore, even tho customer service and managers of customer service told me it could be done.
SE has completely lost my faith in anything they do. Thats why you havnt gotten any of my money that has your logo on the game.
For a second I thought it was a news on FFXV. Darn I wonder if we’ll wait another 8 years for that game.

Ps: Just got my PS4!
Its just amazing. All the stuff they put in it. im loving it so far. Downside for new people you have to be lvl 50 and completed the story to get all the good stuff.But its still really fun.
So, when is it free to play (for those who have already purchased the game) when you haven’t resubbed? Is it the 11th-14th? I think I read the 10th at 8pm PST.
Wow. I cant believe all the content they add, I might have to play this game again, nice to see some PVP.
I downloaded the patch since this morning, and its only until now I’ve decided to take a break after 9 hours of playing. It is so much fun. I love those new dungeons.
I just wish we could download all the patches even when we don’t sub. I do not understand why we cannot. I’m going to have to DL quite a few GBs once the free weekend play kicks in.
