Guardians of the Galaxy Coming to Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes

Disney Infinity: Guardians of the Galaxy

Who saw Guardians of the Galaxy this weekend? I caught a showing on Saturday, and I’m already planning my second trip! Adding to my Guardians excitement is the official announcement at Comic-Con that a Guardians of the Galaxy Play Set is coming to Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition) for our September 23rd launch.

Let’s take a look at that trailer:

The Guardians of the Galaxy Play Set follows Star-Lord and the other galactic Guardians on an all-new adventure as they defend Knowhere from Ronan the Accuser. This is an original storyline in the Guardians of the Galaxy Universe crafted by esteemed comic writer Brian Michael Bendis and the stellar team at Avalanche Software.

Star-Lord and Gamora will be included in the Guardians of the Galaxy Play Set, and you’re also going to have the option to pick up Drax, Groot, and Rocket as singles at launch. A really neat touch that the team put in is that when Groot picks up Rocket, he actually sits on Groot’s shoulder. Together they’re unstoppable as they take on the Sakaaran fleet!

And, there’s one more Guardians of the Galaxy character joining the Marvel Super Heroes fleet – Ronan the Accuser! He will coming out in Wave 2 with fellow Marvel super villains Loki and Green Goblin. Plus, Iron Man (from the Avengers Play Set) and Nova (from the Spider-Man Play Set) will also be able to crossover into the Guardians of the Galaxy Play Set for exclusive missions.

Want even more Guardians of the Galaxy content? You got it. The Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes Starter Pack is going to come with two Toy Box Game Discs, one of which is Guardians of the Galaxy themed. In Escape from the Kyln, you must race against time to escape a space prison, collecting treasures and cool upgrades along the way. The disc clocks in at about 2-3 hours of repeatable galactic gameplay.

In addition, Wave 1 of the 2.0 Edition Power Discs will include a bunch of Guardians of the Galaxy-themed Power Discs. Two of my favorites here are the Space Armor Power Disc that is actually a super-charged costume change for Gamora and the Marvel Team-Up: Yondu Power Disc that allows the player to summon Guardians of the Galaxy’s Yondu character to help take out baddies.

Enjoy the movie, guys, and remember: The Guardians of the Galaxy adventure continues when Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition) lands on shelves this fall!

  • Any word on the Vita version? When’s it coming? Is it going to be the same game or a downgraded port? Is it compatible with the PS3/4 versions? When can we expect to hear about that version?

  • Got my Collector’s Edition pre-ordered, will definitely pick up a few of the Guardians figures along with come launch day…if only it were September 23rd!!!

  • This looks fantastic, can’t wait to get the Collectors of 2.0 alongside this.

  • Question for all:

I am planning on getting this for my son (Ps4). If I buy say “phineas and ferb” characters from the last generation will they work with this play set?

  • I was really looking forward to the collectors edition, until I saw the terrible price. For someone who buys just about every collectors edition out there, that’s saying a lot. There just isn’t enough content to sway me.

  • I have little interest in the game, but you can bet I’ll be buying those figures.

Saw the movie on Friday, going again tomorrow. It’s absolutely brilliant. If any of you haven’t seen it yet, you NEED to go.

  • #Bootista xD

  • I love Marvel super-heroes but this game seems to be geared toward the 16 year-old & younger group of PS console owners.

I’m much older than 16 – so I would like to see Marvel Heroes 2015 (by Gazillion Entertainment) come to the PS4.
I’m enjoying playing Marvel Heroes 2015 on my PC – but I would really like to be able to play it on the PS4.

  • Produce a Howard the Duck figure and, I’m in.

  • @Ateam043

I’m pretty sure I’ve read even before Disney Infinity 2.0’s official announcement that all figures would be forward compatible with any future Infinity games, even the USB connected base, on some official Disney site.
Just googled it to make sure and the link below was the first to pop up confirming it! ;)

  • Same as #1 comment I want to know when is the vita version coming out and will it be the same as console version or a down grade port ?

  • Looking forward to this 2.0 Edition as me and my baby enjoyed Disney Infinity so much.

  • I’m a huge Marvel fan and I adore Guardians. However, the price on all 5 characters is probably going to b a bit startling, yes?

Also, is the Vita copy compatible with the other bases and such? Can the software be bought individually since many of us will have console versions already?

  • @4 yes. All characters from 1.0 are compatible with 2.0:)

  • Really hope we get a figure of a certain character that makes a cameo after the end credits of GotG. Come on Disney, you know you want to put him in the game!

  • @4 Here is a link to all of Disney Infinity’s 1.0/2.0 compatibility questions…

  • Dang. My love of Guardians of The Galaxy might force me to get this. Or at least the figures, they do look pretty great. The price of the game is pretty steep, I’d be all over a Guardians of the Galaxy starter with the game and a couple characters. Guess I’ll just have to think about it.

  • Yay! No response! Thanks guys! ^_^

  • @madmanwithabox12
Welcome to the wonderful world of Disney ;)

  • Still haven’t seen the movie yet but looking forward to it.

  • I love games you can design and build your own levels, like littlebigplanet; however, I don’t like taking up space and having a bunch of toys and game disks around my game room. I just wish it could be just DLC.

This product is just not for me… the game sounds fun and I’m probably missing out in a lot of fun.

  • I just talked to disney infinity and they said ps vita version will be just like console version, no word on the date for ps vita version. Plus depending on feed back they were talking about selling the disc and figures separate for those who own the first disney infinity I called 1-888-861-4111 to ask and leave feed back on disney infinity. Hope this helps.
