Diablo III on PS4: New Ultimate Evil Edition Details

Greetings, nephalem! John Hight here to bring you an update as my team and I prepare to unleash a whole lot of evil on consoles everywhere. I’m pleased to say that on August 19, just two short weeks from now, you’ll be able to lay waste to Malthael and bring peace to the streets of Westmarch from the comfort of your La-Z-Boy with the release of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition.

The Ultimate Evil Edition is filled with all the features, fast-paced action, and legendary loot included in the Reaper of Souls expansion set, as well as all of the content of the original Diablo III. With a new chapter to play through and the new Crusader class to master, plus the freedom to explore endlessly with Adventure Mode, your path to new heights of power will be literally in your DualShock-wielding hands.

I want to remind everyone to get your preorders in if you haven’t already. Doing so will land you a devilishly sweet pair of Infernal Pauldrons, which provide some powerful bonuses for your characters, and they look pretty cool too—a plus considering you can also use them for transmogs (a new feature available in UEE). For those who pre-purchase the game digitally on the PlayStation Store, you’ll also pick up a set of helm and weapon transmog recipes, a Spectral Hound minion, and three additional character slots.

The Ultimate Evil Edition also includes some console-exclusive features—like Apprentice Mode, which boosts lower level players when they’re playing with higher level players; the Nemesis system, which sends monsters that have slain your character on to wreak havoc in your friends’ games; and more—all of which make playing with your friends even more challenging and rewarding. We’ve also teamed up with Sony to bring PS3 and PS4 players some exclusive content: a Nephalem Rift inspired by The Last of Us, and a larger-than-life transmog armor set based on Shadow of the Colossus. If you haven’t seen these yet, you should check them out at our blog.

Diablo III Reaper of Souls: Ultimate Evil Edition on PS4

For players who’ve been holding off on bringing justice to Diablo on console, now is the perfect time to join the fray, as the Ultimate Evil Edition is a maxed-out version of the game, with Diablo III and all of the latest updates for that, plus all of the new content that we launched with the Reaper of Souls expansion. And if you’ve already played Diablo III on console, I have good news for you as well: you’ll be able to transfer your characters over into this new release and continue your adventures—even across console generations.

One more cool piece of news for PS4 players: the next-gen console architecture makes it much easier for us to offer ongoing patch support for the PS4 version of the Ultimate Evil Edition. This means that as we continue to patch the game on PC, we’ll now be able to roll out related patch content, as appropriate, on PS4 as well. It’ll take some additional time beyond the PC patch rollout, but we’ll get them to you as quickly as possible.

After slaving away in the deepest depths of the Burning (development) Hells, I’m excited that the game is almost here and ready for you guys to play. Slay well, nephalem, and we’ll see you in Hell!

  • 12 more days. Just 12 more :(

  • Can’t wait. I plan on pre-ordering this weekend.

  • As of right now, I plan on getting this at a later time, but this would be my first Diablo game. I remember my brother and I as kids, we went to a Blockbuster or something similar, he got Diablo 2 (I think it was) for PS1 and I got Tomb Raider 2. I want to focus on Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare especially with that $40 price tag.

  • Ugh it’s so close yet so far away.

  • I have never played Diablo, but is it basically a hack n slash game? The PS4 really needs a good one right now, and I think I would be in to try this if that was the case.

Also, the SotC armor is awesome.

    • Ooh, you are in for a treat. Diablo is the grandaddy of hack-and-slash action-RPGs, and D3 works great on a controller.

    • We plan to support the PS4 with future updates. We’re already working on bringing Greater Rifts to UEE.

    • Oops – meant to post this on lower thread. UEE on PS4 is great hack and slash. Try multiplayer too – its a lot of fun.

  • It will be my first time with Diablo, looking for friends to play online, feel free to add me.

    PSN ID: mrabu

  • 1. Can the PS4 version cross-play with PS3 version?

    2. All PS4 games can be Remote Played on Vita. Can D3 be Remote Played with the Vita (or Vita TV) controlling a second char? (Main char still being controlled by DS4. Vita shows same screen. Basically couch co-op but each player has own controller and own screen. Some games, like Lego ones, can do this.)

  • This is awesome news. So glad to see Bliz so committed to this version. Pre-ordering NOW!

  • I’ll probably only get this if Blizzard supports the game post-launch with patches and updates.

  • Did you not read the article? They address that specifically.

  • Does anyone know how the character transfers from ps3 to ps4 work?

    • On your PS3:
      Sign into PSN.
Go to More and select Export. This will upload a copy of your characters. Any progress you make after the export will not be updated so you want to do this right before switching to PS4.

      On your PS4:
      Sign into PSN.
If this is the first -time you’ve run UEE on your PS4 and you’re signed into PSN then we look for any exported characters and give you the option to import them.
Otherwise, go to More and select Import. This will download your character data. This will overwrite any characters on your PS4 so you should do this as soon as you first load UEE on your PS4.

  • @barker09 – The article specifically stated they will support it post launch. Did you even read it?

  • Got this pre-ordered for PS4. My first Diablo game ever. Can’t wait.

  • I realize the article states that console characters will transfer over, but does this mean that’s a hard NO for PC character transfer? I own it for PC and would buy this for PS4 if that was the case. If not, just TLOU until Destiny but people who have never played this game are in for an absolute treat. Very fun and the thought of couch coop makes it even better!

    • Unfortunately, we won’t be supporting transfers from PC. There are some big differences in items that make a 1:1 transfer impossible without players potentially losing gear. Achievements would also be lost and some would be impossible to ever get.

  • How many character slots are included with the retail boxed version?

  • Sorry to ask, but “much easier” means no future support for old-gen versions of UEE?

  • As of right now the PS3 version of the game was patched and the 1.0.3 patch broke the online gameplay and their servers have been down for the last 3 days. They should fix that 1st cause I already paid for 2 copies of this and if it don’t work on launch I will file a law suite along with anyone else this affects. Great game non the less but if you can’t play a game is useless.

    • We had a bug in the 1.0.3 patch for players that have UPnP enabled on their routers. We fixed this in patch 1.0.4 which went out yesterday (Aug. 7). The patch hasn’t been released yet in Europe and Japan, players in these regions can get around the bug by disabling UPnP. This doesn’t affect offline play. We’re sorry for the inconvenience this has caused players.

  • I approve of the dedication to post release support. I know there was a big question mark over whether you guys would be patching the console versions, but I’m glad to hear you decided to do so. Thanks to this clarification, I’ll be there day 1 with the digital edition :)

  • I plan to preorder on psn. Will diablo 3 support digital preload?

    • Yes. In the case of the PS3, you specify what time of day the system should begin pre-loads. The PS4 will begin pre-loading automatically.

  • played this on pc, ps3, and will for sure play it on ps4. :)

  • PLEASE let me import my PC Battle.net Reaper of Souls character into the PS4 version! Please! It’s all stored in the cloud anyway!

  • @7 – No you cannot cross platform play with PS3 to PS4. I asked this exact question on their live stream Q&A and got that exact answer.

  • No Elektro they’ve already said that you cannot cross-play with or import PC characters.

  • Count me in on this. Look like some great fun with the new implemented features. Hey, maybe I won’t get bored this time around and actually Platinum the game!

  • Where is Starcraft II for PS4?

  • Glad to see that PS4 is going to get patched (even if it is delayed). The initial comments made it sound unlikely, which would be unfortunate.

  • based blizzard, thanks already pre-ordered the game when it was up in the PSN store

  • Sweet, im gonna buy a PS4 only for this game.. but maybe at Hollydays because i just played my first playthrough on ps3…

  • does the game share the trophy list between the ps3 and ps4 versions or is there an opportunity to earn two platinums?

  • Got this for ps3 during the holiday sale last year, can’t wait for it on PS4 now!! Worth every penny and more. Although, will PS4 and PS3 be able to play co-op together?

  • TROPHIES!

I assume if I transfer the game save I won’t be able to get certain trophies with the PS4 version unless I start a new game?

  • So when will this be on Playstation Store to actually buy… Cause as of yet I cant see it and cant find any answers on this.

  • I’ve been waiting for so long to finally play Diablo 3!! only 12 days left!!. I even skipped the ps3 version to wait for the next gen PS4 version!!.

  • Are the graphics going to be better than the High setting in the PC version? Because it was a huge letdown when I downloaded the trial PC version and found out even maxed out, the game looked kinda bad.

  • Especially after I played Heart of the Swarm which was gorgeous on Ultra. :(

  • The PS3 version of Diablo III was plagued with fake hacked items. So that makes me concerned about the PS4 version, especially since we can transfer our saves. If that kind of garbage will be allowed to run rampant again, then I will not purchase this game.

  • So excited for this release. Already have my PS4 UEE digitally preordered! Thanks for the post release support as well!

  • @ GummyCore no just ps4 to ps4 is what they said on the q&a stream yesterday as for your second question a guy doing a video said he login as a 3rd character using ps vita but no proof seeing the vita do it just seen a 3rd character load up on the tv so take that with a grain of salt. You can use remote play on p1 and use controllers for p2 like all other games at the very least.

  • Is the game still $60 if so I’ll have to pass. I would love the dlc and to play on my ps4 but I spent $60 on the game already. Th pc upgrade was only $40 so why charge me more what did I do?

  • Looking for new ppl to play Diablo 3 with when it comes out on ps4 if your up to it send me a friend request Sanity1

  • Long pre-ordered. I’ve been looking forward to this since I played the PS3 demo, which was great fun.

  • While I’m not particularly interested in Diablo 3 (I’m glad others are) I have to echo what KazeEternal said. I would love to see StarCraft II hit PS4 especially after all the expansions are released. This is the only game on PC I really wanna see come to PS4 and I hope it happens. Come on Blizzard make it happen. I’ll spend $60 if I have to to play it :)

  • SUPER excited. =D

  • Also can somebody confirm if the Last of Us Nephalem Rift and SoTC armour is going to come with the disc versions as well, or is that also part of the digital preorder?

The posts haven’t been quite clear on that.

  • @44, djsaiyan, yes, disc pre-orders get that.

  • The confirmation of patches coming will get a buy from me. I was holding off until I read something about that.

  • Will there be a PS4 demo released?

  • Hey.
I am currently living in Poland and i’m curious about languages available on the disc based game?
Ultimate Evil Edition on PS4 has couple languages available on disc or is it like D3 on PS3 which in Poland had only polish version.
I’m asking since there is no info about it anywhere on the net.
    Thanks.

  • Will there be post-launch support for PS3?

  • For you new Diablo players, this isn’t a simple Hack n Slash only type of game. Actually it’s pretty involving when it comes to playing end game content where you need to build up resists to schools of magic / physical damage. I’m not sure if they bumped up the XP gains but you will also need to play the game several times to hit max level (although with the rifts and bounties you can get around that a little easier now).

I have played this game pretty extensively on the PC and I really had a lot of fun with it. It is definitely better when you have friends to play with. If the game has the most up to date PC changes, the Monk will be back to be being a very solid and bada$$ melee class again. The Crusader is a lot of fun as well but you really need to learn how to play them to get the most out of the class.

I’m thinking about getting it even though I have it on the PC (I still prefer the controller for this game) but I’m not sure how long I’ll stick with it because of Destiny releasing a few weeks after, not to mention all of the other games coming out soon. Hmmmmm.

Very fun game though if you are willing to put the time into it.
