Nom Nom Galaxy Sets a Course for PS4, PS Vita

Nom Nom Galaxy

We’re delighted to let you all know that Nom Nom Galaxy is coming to PS4 and PS Vita!

Our relationship with Q-Games has previously brought PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate, and more recently Shooter Ultimate to PlayStation Store, building on some great titles from the past. Nom Nom Galaxy, however, is a new title that we are developing together with Q-Games in Japan as a co-development.

We’ve always been impressed with Q’s ability to generate very unique worlds and play mechanics, and we believe NNG is the pinnacle of their efforts! It’s a genre melter that’s a co-op multiplayer game about building, expanding and maintaining an interstellar soup factory with your friends. It blends elements of tower defense, sandbox exploration, co-op platforming, resource management and construction, all set in a unique living eco-system.

It’s a big project, both in terms of scope and ambition and we’re delighted to be involved in designing and developing the game with Q.

There’s a heavy emphasis on playing online as we’re putting a lot of energy into creating a seamless drop in co-op experience that lets PS4 and Vita players all play within the same game; whether playing online or on the couch.

Co-op play, as you’ve probably already noticed, has been core to all the PixelJunk games and it’s going to be at the centre of Nom Nom Galaxy. In addition to playing together, we’re going to introduce asynchronous and community challenges as well as a host of other new things that we’ll talk about in the future.

So there you go folks, two indie developers joining forces to bring what we hope will be a very unique experience to PlayStation! For more information be sure to visit NomNomGalaxy.com and follow us @PixelJunkNews and @DoubleElevenLtd.

One final note, we’re pleased to say a very early version of NNG will be playable this week at Gamescom 2014! See you there!

  • I’ve enjoyed playing all of the pixel junk games and look forward to this one as well!

  • Looks cool, will check it out.

Sony is cornering us Vita fans. Giving us 99% indie games and no big franchises whatsoever. This annoys me a lot, even though I buy a lot of Vita games and enjoy the console very much. The reason is that Sony promised a console experience on the go, while in fact they delivered a 3DS experience.

    Very saddened.

  • Looking pretty sweet so far and the concept sounds awesome. Is this going to be fully playable solo? I don’t like investing in games that “require other people” to get enjoyment out of it.

    On a separate note:

Yesterday was clearly a PS4-centric day. Here’s hoping today is all about the Vita!

  • Any discounts for those who backed the PC version?

  • Good to know that tbis will come to PS too. Was bummes when Q announced it only for PC.

  • I really enjoy Monsters and Shooter, so looking forward to this.

  • That’s at least one title that was announced for Vita.

  • New Vita game! Sold!

  • Please bring it to PS3 also! I hve every other pixeljunk game I would like to buy this one also! You’ll make a lot of money because so many people have a ps3.

  • PixelJunk Monsters is my favorite Q-Games game by far, and Nom Nom Galaxy is looking like it’ll be another favorite on PS4 and PS Vita. :)

  • + loadstone007s perhaps if more vita owners bought Killzone Mercenary and Tearaway it would give them more arguments to ask for expensive AAA games, even though Sony is still producing a few of them in Japan like Oreshika 2 and Freedom Wars.

  • I’ll need to see some gameplay footage first before anything but this just might be a good game.

  • So when is Nom Nom Galaxy coming out? Give me a release window. Are we talking about a 2014 or a 2015 release?

I keep all PlayStation Games in a calendar on Google Calendar called “PlayStation Gaming Calendar” so I also expect a release window. The US PlayStation Blog needs a new format or a easy way for gamers to look up what game(s) is coming out at which time. If anyone is interested please feel free to subscribe to my calendar on Google Calendar it will update on your Android phone so your never in the dark. I keep up to date on this calendar as much as I can. It can be a big project time to time. http://goo.gl/eP3lQy don’t like to subscribe and just want to view my calendar found here. http://goo.gl/k6GrVR

  • From the couple screenshots, I’m reminded of a little PC game called Dig-n-Rig. Need to see some gameplay to get a better idea if the two compare at all though

But another Pixeljunk game, means another great game. I’m sold already!

  • well how good is it

  • No disc, no sale.

  • true games for Vita,no more indies!!!!!console 300€!!!!!
    games,games,games!!!!

  • Aww, this looks so incredibly cute. I want it!

  • played it at PAX last year and then pre-ordered the beta on Steam. will be happy to support this genius idea. I really think Q games is making great games for adults and their children to play together that have actual depth. I think a generation of kids are being raised playing PixelJunk games instead of Mario games, and I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

  • looks awesome, pixeljunk shooters 1/2/and retro are some of my favorite games of the last gen. CANNOT WAIT

  • Nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom!
