DRIVECLUB: Free DLC Schedule Detailed
Update: We know many of you were looking forward to playing the promised PS Plus Edition and we are truly sorry for the delay. Our first priority is to provide you with the best possible experience while playing DRIVECLUB. With the high volume of new players and additional server load the PS Plus Edition is anticipated to bring, we are currently not confident that we can guarantee the best online experience. Until we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the full social connected online experience, we will be postponing the release of the PS Plus Edition until further notice.

Our players are the heart and soul of DRIVECLUB, and when the game begins October 7th, Evolution Studios will be going all out to keep the experience fresh and exciting for all of you.

We’re determined to build up a lively community of millions of connected racers around you, so our post-launch development will be influenced by what you do in the game and the feedback you share with us. New content, improvements, and updates will all be shaped by you and everyone you play with. And of course, we’re going to do our best to keep surprising you with our own creativity, too!

In fact, thanks to all of the players we’ve met and talked to already, our mission has already started.

We’re already working hard to develop free updates that will introduce a powerful weather system (that you can play around with to change the dynamics of every race) and a photo mode, because they’ve both been requested ever since we first showed how you can control the time of day and skies in the game.

And even though we’ve already got 55 routes over 25 tracks in the game, we’ll be bringing you more new tracks to enjoy and all of them will be free.

We’ll also keep adding more of the world’s best cars to the game and we’ll give you one car every month, as a free series running from October 2014 to June 2015.

For those who want even more, we’re making a full calendar of new release DLC that will run deep into 2015. This will let you buy packs of new cars and new campaign tour expansions, to give you more to play for each month. This calendar will start in November 2014 with every pack offering new challenges to play and new Trophies for you to earn.

There will also be a Season Pass available for $24.99* so that you can pre-order the DLC packs and get huge savings. In fact, it works out that with the Season Pass you’ll save more than 60% on the cost of purchasing these packs individually, as the total value of the packs will be $75.84*.

And the best part? All of this is just the start! We keep saying “DRIVECLUB begins on October 7th 2014” because we don’t know exactly how the game will evolve with each update until you get your hands on the game and start playing!

We hope you’re as excited about this as we are. We can’t wait to shape the future of DRIVECLUB with you! Are you on board and are you bringing your friends along with you?

  • I am lost. What if you buy the game at retail does it still have paid DLC? Thought it was free for PS Plus people? Now there is a free version a paid version and DLC? So to get it all you would have to buy the game $60 and the $24 Season Pass?

  • You should REALLY think about releasing a custom DualShock 4 with the #DriveClub colors.
When I close my eyes and picture it, it’s awesome.

  • I pre-ordered my ps4. I got it on the first day and this game was supposed to be a free bonus. As a result, we were given another game in it’s place and told we will still get drive club for free when it comes out. That to me meant FULL GAME for free. Is this still true? That was a big incentive for me to pre-order ps4.

The PlayStation Plus version is absolutely still going to be available to subscribers as a free download. This will be out on the same day as the full game (October 7th), and you will have the option to upgrade from the PS+ Edition to the full game for a discounted price of $49.99.”

  • Do you guys complain when you go to a restaurant and ask for extra “whatever” and get charged for it? How about when you upgrade a rental, car, airplane seat, etc. What about purchasing upgrades for a new home or a new car? Shouldn’t those be free as well? No. why because it costs the businesses money, same as a video game company.

Business models change, unexpected costs happen. Besides the company making money, the employees need to get paid as well. One good observation I read was that over the course of the video game era, the prices have not gone up all that much, yet development costs have. We need to be grateful for that.

As far as DLC goes, get used to it. I am assuming those complaining about paying for that have never played any of the big MMO’s where each expansion pack runs about 30 plus dollars.

It’s still your choice, stick with the core games or buy more content when it’s released. Pretty simple really.

  • This might be redundant but seriously hope that the Lexus LFA is included in the game. It doesn’t matter whether it will be at launch or available as DLC.

  • Please can you advise of the pricing in UK so i can assess if its best to pre order in store with the discount or elsewhere?

  • I really appreciate how you guys are laying everything out. It’s the respectable way to do things. And it’s nice to see that a season pass might actually save us more than $5 for once. And lastly, that $49.99 price is nice too!

Really been looking forward to this game, as I loved the Motorstorm series.

  • After this game going from a mostly full launch title for Plus members to going to a 1/5 glorified demo after a year long delay, the “upgrade” being basically full price and after the stealth edits of posts/faqs to hide your tracks I couldn’t care less about this game anymore. I don’t appreciate being lied to but I would appreciate it if you guys didn’t burn a PS Plus game slot for that demo when this comes out. I’d rather get more indie shovelware than have this burn a montly slot that we pay for. I don’t pay for demos. M’kay? Thanks

  • yay more stuff and passes and unlocks to buy just to unlock a few more thing that we gotta buy. lol but i still do it for somereason maybe cuz the games rock thanks

  • where the ps+ edition is missing 80% of the content (1 area out of 5 available), it comes across like a demo (a la the ps1 demo discs of the 1990’s) more than a full game. as such, is the ps+ edition of driveclub going to be taking one of the 2 ps4 igc spots for the month of october? hopefully this is NOT the case.

  • Why, Why, Why, will Sony not give us G27 support? Or atleast a valid reason why. Im so sick of hearing about this “security chip”. its all just smoke blowing bull#@$%.

  • So….is this “ps 4 launch title” actually coming out? I was looking forward to it a year ago

  • #disappointed …Should have been out a year ago

  • Sorry for all my posts. Its hard to convey my anger and disapppointment since I mostly play racing games, and the game has been delayed a year. Hard to be like ‘yay…here it is!’ when it was advertised as a launch title

    #stickingwithforzanow

  • would i need playstation plus if i wanted to play this online on my ps4

  • How do the “Livery Packs” work/function?

  • So if I buy this game at retail do I get the 50 cars and tracks. Then this season pass stuff and free cars will add another 47 cars likes stated above bringing the total cars to 97 or am I missing something

  • I’ve noticed that with some store pre-orders there are some bonuses like the Mercedes SLS AMG Coupe Black Series Pack & a RUF RT12 R Pack.

Are these bonuses included in the digital copies pre-ordered from the PSN?

  • Seeing that there will be a $50 upgrade fee if you want the full game instead of the plus, I have to honestly say that I’m nothing but disappointed. We were promised the game when the PS4 launched (and it on PS+ then), the game has suffered continuous delays, we got nothing but mountains of indies (When the purpose of the PS4 is next gen, and PS Vita + PS3 are getting numerious AAA games), and now as a PS+ member, I get my face spat on again by this.

  • Go back and watch how this “free” game was announced. The slide says “DriveClub PS Plus Edition” implying that it was going to be different from the full game. It’s called making yourself look good. It’s how PR is done these days. http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/10/sony-ps-plus-driveclub/

  • will there be country flag paint jobs for the cars?

  • Hi I want digitally pre-order 1 question fast answer plz b4 pre-order end, how will we receive 3months free plus bonus after pre-order game?

  • @MarinoBrea (comment 25) – I AGREE

I wish we would drop the “what’s FREE” line of discussion that’s dominating Driveclub boards. It’s clouding up the issue that there’s practically no news about the paid content of the game.

I just want to know what’s in the full game at launch day. Please – for $49, what am I getting DAY ONE? How many cars? How many tracks? I see no tangible evidence of what I will get as a paying customer if I spent $49-$59.

On top of that, I get the Season Pass shoved down my throat before I even know what the original game has.

Here’s the PS4 Store copy for both the game and season pass (same copy for both, edited out the licensing info):
“DRIVECLUB is about teamwork it’s about everyone fighting for one another and earning rewards together – and most importantly it’s about sharing in the excitement of every race.

Build your Club, Share Rewards, Customise Challenges and Form Rivalries. This is how your unique DRIVECLUB experience could play out – and it starts on October 7th, 2014. ”

What does that tell me? Very little. Want to know how another company advertised their product in one bullet point and no fluff?
    * More than 1200 cars on 33 locations with 71 different layouts

  • Honestly, I wasn’t going to purchase this game being that I am more of a sim driver, and project cars is right around the corner… however, the support the devs are giving this and the clear upfront content cycle combined with an inexpensive season pass…. I want to support Evo Studios. Count me in, if for nothing else, we can show other devs that being honest and upfront pays off. (Still wish Evo Studios and Sony would work closer to get G27 support BEFORE launch).

  • Paul I have a question so in the end does this mean that the ps + edition will have 19 cars at the end with some tracks ? Or is this only for the full game ?

  • Hellow i am from Belgium and i preorderd driveclub on ps4 with ps plus upgrade. I have the game but i cant download the 3 carpacks. I get every time if i want to download .it starts but after 3 seconds
