  • Looks like a lot of fun. I’m definitely grabbing it this afternoon.

  • I enjoyed this on my PS3 and Vita, but could you detail what makes this a “Special Edition” and how it differs from the original?

  • I liked the game on PS3, haven’t played it much on Vita since I haven’t gotten around to buying a 64GB card…

I’ve got the PSN money to buy this but I can’t figure out why it’s special enough for me to drop the $10 on it all over again. Scouring the internet to find differences between normal and special edition.

  • Sorry for the double post, but my friend has a Wii U and a PS3.

If there’s no difference between the 2 I really need to know so that I can tell him which version to buy. An enhanced version on the Wii U, or the PS3/Vita version for when he finally breaks down and buys a Vita for Hatsune Miku games, Persona 4, and others. No one seems to have any clue why this version is so special. Which do I tell him to buy? What’s the difference?

  • IF there’s zero new content then my guess is it’s just a name change to avoid having to do a cross-buy with the owners of the original version.

  • Whoops, got responded to while I was typing the last post. New content confirmed.

  • Yeah same here. I’m listening to enV on soundcloud.

Hope I found the right band because it’s very Euro Dance. The song Bloom has some classical elements and is a perfect rhythm game style song with the different flow and style change ups for that emotional shift during the round.

Soundstopper is a dubstep hybrid with electronica pep to it.

I’m torn on spending my $60 psn credit but this may get $10 of it after all.

  • So we can’t use our own songs in this one like we could with the first game?

  • I love kickbeat and have it on both PS3 and Vita. When I heard this was coming for PS4 I was both thrilled and worried. Thrilled because there was a possibility the game could be improved both in visuals, soundtrack and game modes. But I was worried because of one of PS4’s big limitations, you can’t store digital media on it, and began to expect that one of Kickbeats aces, beat your music was going to be lost. That seems to be the case. I held hope maybe those wizards over at Zen found a way to incorporate music unlimited into Kickbeat, which would have blown my mind, but realized it’s highly unlikely.

  • I’ll probably hold off picking this up, as I didn’t put too much time into the PS3 version. It’s a good game, it just gets incredibly difficult as you go so becomes more frustrating and fun. Maybe I’ll try playing it again, it’s been awhile.

  • See, Sony? This is one of the many key reasons why we need the media support we’ve been asking for…..oh, about 10 months now? I keep telling you this, yet you don’t seem to listen. (or, more likely, are just taking your time)

Even though there were a few problems with the custom soundtracks on the PS3/Vita version of the game, it still would’ve been better than nothing!

As for KB itself, why no cross-buy?

  • @8 Yeah, pretty much.

  • I got a bad case of boogie fever.

  • I’m really bummed that this doesn’t use the PS Camera… Xbone is getting stuff like Shape Up from Ubisoft and we’re not getting any games that are using the camera apart from Just Dance 2015…

  • Is it crossbuy?

  • Special Edition:
    – Adds: enV tracks / 1080p @ 60fps
    – Removes (not able to use): beat your own music.
Conclusion: appreciate the efforts to bring it to PS4 for new fans, but as a PS3 purchaser, Cross-Buy would have made more sense.

  • Seems like a terrible deal. You can’t use custom tracks, meaning the game’s already limited replayability is effectively zeroed.

  • Well since I own the ps3 version and the ps vita version I wish they could have given me the game for free. Because i would not buy the game again.

  • @17 the replayability isn’t zeroed. There’s different difficulties, and things. The custom songs are nice, but a deal breaker? Not sure. 15 songs for 10 dollars. On sale this game is must buy.

A game being $10 with extra songs, and but doesn’t have custom soundtracks. It’s a bummer, it’s not the definitive version… but we’re talking about hours of fun, versus never ending fun.

Not everyone is going to want to play this game for 100s of hours. Some people will play it for 5-10 maybe 20 and that will be enough for them. The soundtrack will make or break the game for you obviously.

It’s so hard to recommend a game like this. Yes it’s good. Is it for you, I don’t know you. Can’t tell you. Rhythm. It’s hit or miss. Think a serious Space Channel 5 or Gitarooman with martial arts.
