PlayStation TV: Nearly 700 Games to Play Starting October 14th

With PlayStation TV’s launch right around the corner on October 14, I’m pleased to confirm that nearly 700 games will be available in the U.S. and Canada to play on PS TV on Day One, including established, popular franchises like Killzone: Mercenary, cult hits like Persona 4 Golden, and classics like Twisted Metal. In addition, I’m pleased to announce that Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom from Little Orbit will also be available in November for PS TV (as well as PS Vita). Our library will continue to expand, with other fan favorites like Minecraft and more. We’re proud to bring such a broad array of content from multiple PlayStation platforms to PS TV, a small console at a great value.

For a limited time, you can find an exclusive PS TV bundle at Walmart, which comes with everything in the PS TV bundle plus Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, also for $139.99 (MSRP).

PlayStation TV

PS TV plays select content from PlayStation systems past and present, including:

  • PlayStation Vita – PS TV plays select titles from PS Vita, which can either be downloaded to the device or inserted directly into the system using a PS Vita card.
  • PlayStation Classics – Download classic games from PS One and PlayStation Portable, like Wipeout and Twisted Metal.
  • PlayStation 3 – Our game streaming service PS Now is coming to PS TV, which will let you play many PS3 games on the device over the Internet*.
  • PlayStation 4 – If you’re a PS4 owner, use Remote Play to stream a remote play enabled PS4 game from your console to a PS TV over a wired internet connection. If the living room is tied up, just use Remote Play to send your PS4 game up to the bedroom and keep playing on PS TV.
  • *PS Now service may not be available in all areas. For details, see http://us.playstation.com/playstationnow

You can find more information on the games available for PS TV here: The list will continue to grow as our library expands, so stay tuned for more.

PlayStation TV may be a small platform, but it’s got a big PlayStation heart. We hope you get a chance to experience it when it launches in North America on October 14.

    • Can we stream Netflix and vudu and amazon directly using pstv?

    • As a point of comparison, here is a list of Vita TV-compatible games over in Japan:

      http://search.jp.playstation.com/search?charset=utf-8&group=1&design=2&psvtvCard=1&psvtvDownload=1&psvtvDownloadCard=1

There are a few games which work over there but which aren’t yet on the list over here: Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment (though i think it may have needed a separate patch update, which I hope may be included in tomorrow’s update in North America), the various games from the Hyperdimension Neptunia series which are curently on Vita (PP, Re;Birth1, Re;Birth2, Geki Noire, and U – the first two of which are available in the West), Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus (which is now set to be rleeased in North America on the same day as PSTV), and many others (such as Danganronpa: Another Episode).

Hopefully “our” list will expand further in the not too distant future.

    • …I’ll remain cautiously optimistic that this license renewals apply to Vita as well.

    • Will I be able to use my 32 GB memory card I use for my Vita right away with the compatible games on it or will I need a new memory card?

    • @53

Over on the EU Blog they’ve said you can just swap your memory card in and out as long as it’s tied to the same PSN account. It’s in the comments.

    • I want this so bad but can’t afford it right now

    • I’m super confused on a few games listed.

Fat Princess: Fist Full of Cake PSP is currently not playable on the Vita, but it is on the PSTV? Will it be coming to the Vita as well?

      Same with Modnation Racers PSP.

Please say these PSP games are being added to the Vita roster.

    • Raptor – RPG, Ocean craft multiplayer (released this week hopefully) and Hill Cliff Horse on PSM are all Playstation TV ready :) still need some minor adjustments once i get my hands on one, but they are playable with the controller when no touch screen is present :)

    • Does it support multiple users unlike Vita? Can my sister sign into her account and play my digital games?

    • So does north america NOT get the promo of free digital games buying this day 1 like europe is getting?

    • Why Grandia isn’t listed as playable game?

    • Will this thing run Plex?

    • Gran Turismo 3 is the killer app I need. Get that onto PS Now and you’ll get my money.

    • Okay Sony, you have my attention.

    • This is the PS Vita TV, right? They’re just calling it Playstation TV because they want to avoid the Vita name like the plague.

    • It requires a wired connection!!!!???? Sony you do realize most homes are not stringing ethernet cables all over the house right? Some folks actually may have a router set up that is away from most of the access points…. what a way to loose sales.

    • No Crisis Core????????

    • Wow lame! Im gonna pay extra for crappy ps3 games. Lol like i said lame

    • Really awesome. For sure getting this for some friends at Christmas time. I’ll also pick one up for myself down the road too.

    • @ everyone asking about game cards

The vita tv uses both digital downloads and physical game cards. Also it uses a ps3 controller for all vita and older games as for the PS4 games it uses with an update ds4 controller for remote play. But as of now only ps4 games can be played using the DS4.

Also not all vita games are vita tv compatible cause they require the vita features such as uncharted. All the touch screen action. Basically as long as there’s a button for that touch screen action it should be on the vita tv if not then you better find a comfy couch and use the real deal.

As for the memory card, I have heard you can use the same memory card on the vita tv as with the vita, you just need to make sure the accounts are the same or you might have an system authorization issue.

It’s the same ui as the vita which also means the same apps. So netflix and crunchyroll should work fine.

I’m curious about the quality but for most vita games it should be at 1080i which is better then most older ps3 games. So I have hopes for it. Can’t wait to play persona 4 on me TV.

    • So will the UI be redesigned for the big screen for new users who are more casual gamers?

Also, will the PSTV Psn store be redesigned to look like the PS3/PS4 since it’s now fullscreen?

Both of these would be great sooner than later. Any info to share?

    • Will ps4 ever get Mp3 and video support?

    • Adventure Time on Playstation Vita ? Sweet.

Yeah…playstation tv looks ok but i like handhelds

    • Ps it’s wireless. Why is everyone thinking it’s wired? It needs to be plugged into power and the tv but not the internet. Don’t even think the thing has a Ethernet port.

    • There’s some pretty noticeable titles missing from the Vita compatible list. MGS HD Collection, Hyperdimension, and Freedom Wars to name a few (though hopefully the last one will be added when it comes to NA).

    • Does the DS4 work with it?

    • Already bought and paid for. Just waiting for it to release.

    • When will Sony officially start selling the 64GB Vita Memory Cards (which the Vita TV also uses) , in NORTH AMERICA ?
Why does Sony continue to force North Americans to import the 64GB card from 3rd party importers on amazon?
When can i buy a 64GB memory card within a local retailer here in North America?

    • This may be a dumb question but will we also have to rent the is PS vita, ps1 games or will they just be available to automatically download. If not they should make a different article on the range of prices the games will be. Can somebody please answer this?

    • @73 – Everything is thinking it’s wired because this blog post says that explicitly. “use Remote Play to stream a remote play enabled PS4 game from your console to a PS TV over a wired internet connection” It does have an ethernet port. Take a look at the pics of the back of the unit.

Anyway, he’s hoping this post is just inaccurate or something.

    • I would not buy this I like to keep portable gaming alive, that’s why I have a WII U, PS3, and PS4 for my TV…^_^
This is a cheap Vita, but without the portable capability only for your home. I have the OLED model I ♥ it nothing will replace it…..^_^

    • @79 – So many typos in my previous post! :( Anyway, apparently Remote Play works wirelessly on existing models in Japan, so it must just be an error in the blog post!

    • If you need PS TV review i’ll be doing one soon once i get my hands on it. I don’t think i ever did review on PS Vita yet and alot of other things too. I’m getting so lazy as gamer these days, lol. So many new things to do but only one me. :( Need clone of myself so badly.

    • Nott sure if this is for me yet, but a definate maybe in the future.

    • So yea could someone at Sony please confirm if you are going to add the PSP games you are listing there as compatible with Vita TV to the Vita store for download or not, like Valkyria Chronicles 2.

    • Already ordered. Thanks for the confirmation that P4G will work for it. That game is the number 1 reason I’m buying the PS TV.

    • Ok, let me understand? The $99 includes access to 700 FREE games? Is there an additional cost for the games (like a PS NOW rental)?

    • @86 – That’s just the size of the compatible library. You still need to buy or rent the games.

    • Can you download games to a flash drive or external HDD?

    • And what about PSN + members? If you have a bunch of PLUS games on your account, will these be free to play over PS TV if you link your accounts? For example, my PS3 died but I have a bunch of PS3 + games available on my list. Will PS TV give me free access to those PLUS titles??

    • Can it play Netflix?

    • I pre-ordered mine already. Can’t wait to take this on the road already.

    • Perhaps this has been answered and I have overlooked it… But is the PS TV tied to just one account or will it allow multiple accounts to use it?

    • So if the original Metal Gear Solid is playable via PS TV, does that mean it’ll be added to the PS Vita storefront?

    • does netflix, amazon video, hulu, nfl sunday ticket, etc work with the ps tv?

    • Tad bit confused, will I be able to use the DS4 for every aspect of this system?

    • i wanna now in the PS TV i can play games like marvel vs capcom 3 but i can play one game, like marvel in the PS TV for two ?

    • So it seems like the DS4 can be used to play PS4 games through RemotePlay, but can it be used to play Vita or PS3 games through PS Now?

If I have saved game progress on a Vita game, can it be transported to the PS TV?

If I have a physical copy of a game like LittleBigPlanet Vita, the PS TV will accept the game, but how will it work without the touch controls? Will the game just say “incompatible” before even booting up, or will I only discover this when I get to a place in the game that requires front/back touch and I can’t complete that section?

    • well, I hope this gets so south america or even argentina, on an price we can pay…. sicerily, we hope sony tried to cool the prices….
