The Drop: New PlayStation Games for 9/30/2014
The Drop

Talion, skilled swordsman and Ranger of the Black Gate, dies upon the rainy walls of his charge, moments after the cruel murder of his wife and child. But Talion is banished from death, and brought back to life by an ancient wraith with a thirst for vengeance. So begins the open-world adventure in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

Shadow of Mordor, which launches this Tuesday on PS4, opens up the rocky passes and shattered ruins that house Sauron’s massing armies. Guide Talion on his quest to find the forces that killed his family, and build his arsenal of powerful runes and wraith magic. Gain insight into the history of Middle-earth, and see a few familiar faces along the way.

But that’s not the only adventure coming to PlayStation this week. Solve deadly mysteries in Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, or fight over-the-top battles in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.

For a full list of games coming to PlayStation, read on. And enjoy the Drop!

  • Shadow of Mordor. Looking forward to Tuesday!

  • Man I am so glad Namco classics are coming to Vita in some form. I’ll take the PS1 classic over nothing. I’ve been hoping Midway would do the same. The PSP games don’t work on Vita.

  • 5 PS1 games in one week? Nice. Now only if PS1 classics were playable on PS4… (and yes, I own a PS3/Vita).

  • When can I Preorder my digital copy of Project Car’s on PS4?

  • woohoo! Pier Solar!

  • Wish ‘Namco Museum Vol. 1 through 5’ was for the PS4 to :(

  • Natural Doctrine looks cool. Wasn’t expecting Longest Day to be out this week. Looking good!

  • I wish i could review both Middle Earth and Nocturne, but I can only get one at a time from Gamefly :( can’t do the two game plan and I really want to play both

  • Very interesting that the Namco Museum games are coming to ps1 classics. I will definitely be getting them. Also getting Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (got it pre-ordered).

  • I will be picking Shadow of Mordor, looks like a really good game! Can someone tell me if the PS1 and PS2 classics will be making their way to the PS4 ? Maybe even PS3 or PSP classics. I’m talking about emulation on the console, not the PS NOW service.

  • Pier Solar 4 me! Though I would MUCH rather have it on Vita than on consoles.

Yes I know I can (and will) use Remote Play, but that doesn’t equate to playing a Vita-native version.

  • Hey Ryan Clements, I got two questions to ask to you about:

    1. Since Namco Museums Vol. 1-5 are coming out as PSone Classics this tuesday, is it possible for Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness, StarBlade Alpha, Xevious 3D, and Dragon Valor to come out as PSone classics in the US, they have been out on the Japanese Playstation store for a while now.

    2. for the past 2 weeks we have been getting Disney PS2 classics for each week, and the Incredibles is coming out this week. Is it possible for the PS2 version of Donald Duck: Goin Quackers to come out on the US Playstation store, It’s on the Europe Playstation store for a while. I really really really really really want to play Donald Duck: Goin Quackers with a Dualshock 3.

  • @Ryan – Can’t save money next week with Driveclub releasing on the 7th. ;)

  • Shadow of Mordor looks solid and I think is the last notable game for the next month (for me anyway). Too bad Dragon Age got pushed into a very filled November.

  • Hey Ryan, I was wondering since Sonic Heroes is on the Japan PS Store I was wondering if we can get that over here?

  • Nothing for me this week.

*shrug* lets me save for more expensive stuff.

  • Need Pier Solar and the Great Architects on the vita

  • Pier Solar is Cross Buy? SWEEET!

  • Going to get them all

  • Something I’ve been wondering since Ryan started doing the drop: Why do you not align the picture of the game with its description? IMO it would make it look better. Kind of annoying IMO.

  • Second Chance Heroes I really like the name of this game. I’m going to try this one.

  • Am I the only one looking forward to falling skies?

  • P4AU is really all I need ths week! Preordered and paid off! Can’t wait!

BTW the Namco classics look tempting!

  • NAMCO F’N MUSEUM!!! I remember playing these when I was just a tike. We literally had all five discs.

  • I hadn’t actually heard of Pier Solar before today, but now that I’ve read up on it, I’m definitely going to snag it along with Shadow of Mordor this week.

And maybe Natural Doctrine for……uhh……yeah still undecided here. I wish it was cross-buy, not because I feel any sense of entitlement to own a game on all platforms with a single purchase just because other developers/publishers do it, but because I’m indecisive like whoa and it would make my life easier lol

  • Im surprised nothing was said about Short Peace Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day being released now. Suda51 is behind it I thought it would have a little buzz. I hope theres a demo.

  • One does not simply drop into Mordor

  • Ryan, nooo! The pictures had been lining up so well the past two weeks, but not this week! *sad face* You need to make this blog more OCD friendly lol.

@50 while ps2 games on vita would be nice, it would require so much more work with the lower file size need as well as the comparable power of the system making ports just not run as well (see jack and daxter) unless a lot more effort is put into them (GOW, ratchet and clank). So I’d say to hope for more hd collections, which have been popping up a lot more lately.

Speaking of which, I need my ape escape HD collection on vita ;_; the dual analog sticks are crying out for it. Or at least to have the ps1 game on the store.

  • Oh yeah that Short Piece game looks pretty cool. Forgot about it perhaps due to the long name

  • Where is #MinecraftPSVita

  • So just to make sure, we will get our new months PS+ games next week because of how this Tuesday is still in this month correct?

  • I’m digging invizimals more than I expected!
In the subject of european launches in the US, I have hope that White Knight Chronicles Origins will get released. And Psygnosis’ PS1 Classics like Wipeout 2097/XL, Wip3out, the Colony Wars trilogy, G-Police and G-Police Weapons of Justice.

  • I’m actually really excited to see Pier Solar released. This is a game I have followed through Watermelon’s website for a long time and I can’t wait to play the HD version. I really can’t wait for my Dreamcast copy to arrive soon, hopefully ! So until then, I guess I’ll just have to pick up the PS4 digital version.

  • Finally The Incredibles yay :D

  • Unfortunately, due to money being tight and potentially having to pay for some car repairs I wont be able to pick up Shadow of Mordor until Christmas or so… but definitely a good looking game and something that is totally worth looking forward to!

  • :(
im super sad, 4J is a big liar
on may 22 he anounced that the minecract vita edition will come out august
and now its septmeber and still not yet out
can u guys let me know when will minecraft vita edition come out
because of this, its forcing me to switch to xbox360
comon guys pls release the vita edition ASAP

  • So many good games coming out, JUST THIS WEEK!. A question to the Devs though.

Would you be willing to accept an EXCLUSIVE fighting game for your console? Indie based of course.

  • @myself (77) I guess I was wrong! the pictures are matching on desktop, just not on mobile. Makes me happy XD

  • Natural Doctrine!!! Can’t get here fast enough!

  • P4AU for me this week. I’ll have to take a look at Natural Doctrine and Short Peace Ranko before I decide if I`ll get them or not.

  • Hi, how big is Persona 4 Arena Ultimax’s size? I wanna see if I have enough room or do I have clean out my HDD?

  • Oh awesome possibly going to get Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Other than that Mordor looks really interesting so might be picking that up too.

  • What’s the price for Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments?

  • I would love to get Shadow of Mordor if it had released any other week, nothing competes with Smash.

  • @91 The Inhonorabitur

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax file size is about 12.6 GB, I’m basing it off the JP version. It’s a big file, so on the safe side you’ll need about 26 GB of free space.

  • I forgot Natural Doctrine came out this week. Only $40, and I’m super ready for some strategy on my PS3! Wish it looked a little better, but at least some things in the presentation are very nice (the character models, potentially the music – I don’t know yet). I’m ready for great strategy regardless though!

Have no idea what Invizimals The Lost Kingdoms, but a quick Youtube search shows a potentially fun game. It’s colorful, it’s interesting – having a kid transform into different creatures to fight and get through levels? Seems interesting. Hope we hear more about it.

  • How about a PS1 classic Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style?

  • MORDOORRR

    CAN’T WAIT!

demod this game a few weeks ago just amazing!

  • so glad i preordered shadow of mordor… on finals week

  • Finally, I can finish the story for P4AU! Hated that really hardcore cliffhanger that was left on P4A. I want to know who was behind it all! D:
