Try Battlefield 4 for Free on PS3

Jonas Elfving's Avatar Posted by Community Manager, Battlefield

Later today after the Store publish, PlayStation Plus members can download Battlefield 4 for free on PS3. There’s never been a better time for new recruits to jump in and join the all-out war. You’ll get 168 hours with the entire experience, including 64 player all-out war in multiplayer, and the intense single-player campaign.

Battlefield 4

To jump on the bandwagon follow this quick start guide:

  1. Navigate to PlayStation Store on your PS3.
  2. Search for “BATTLEFIELD 4” and select Battlefield 4 Game.
  3. Click “Full Game Trial.”
  4. Click “Download.”
  5. Download and install the trial. Please give it some time as Battlefield 4 is a big game with a lot of updates being constantly added.

When you’re primed for battle, hop into a game of Conquest or Obliteration and get the feeling that you’ll experience only in Battlefield.

See you on the Battlefield!

Any chance to get this type of feature for PS4 owners in the future?

So, how long is this trial?

It’s good this free trial for those who have purchase intent, seeing how bad the game is.
The game simply crashes for me in this mission you will on top of the building, to rescue a Chinese.

So, it’s basically a 168 hour trial of the full game?

AmnesiacWanderer said:

The article is wrong, in PS3 the maximum number of players is 24 not 64, 64 players is for PS4 only. Also when i did my full trial awhile back i got 20 hours of free time, 168 hours seems very generous now. Oh and guys don’t bother with the single player campaign, there’s a bug that deletes your save and it appears it’s not fixed yet. Still with all that said BF4 multiplayer is awesome and well worth the 30 bucks i paid for it.

Are you people new?

The PS Plus lineup is always on the last Thursday (now moved up to Wednesday) of the month.

BUT.

As this month, the following Tuesday is in the same month, it was moved back a week.

It’s coming tomorrow.

It was always coming tomorrow.

You all know it’s coming tomorrow.

Stop asking, it’s bloody annoying.

One of my favorite games.
So much, that I stopped playing BF2 on my PC, and picked up 2 PS3’s and BF3 w/Kunark expansion, so my oldest sons could play.
That and was getting tired of the expense to stay competitive, without thinking of others.

You guys are Awesome for bringing it to Plus members.

I have held off buying BF4, since I do not like the way PS4 is heading currently and instead went towards more mobile gaming with Vita.

Many thanks for a more than enough free trial.

@12

you are correct, its only 24 players…they are smart at sony

sofakingkiller said:

September 30th, 8:48 am

Ps3 doesn’t do the 64 players and the single player campaign was still deleting its own save randomly a few months ago when I last played. I don’t see any sign that its finally fixed in the patch notes.

…or, ya know, just play Destiny instead…

I was going to point out that blatant lie about “64-player warfare,” but someone has beaten me to it. Regardless, it bears repeating.

Welmosca said:

Is this a trial like any other on the Store?….or does it have anything special besides the 168 hours?

Spitfire_Zero_ said:

September 30th, 9:27 am

I downloaded the previous 20 hour trial but never ran it, should i delete that and download again to get 168Hr or can i run and enjoy both 20+168? Can anyone confirm this?

Monterossa said:

they probably announcing October IGC on next monday since this week’s update is still in September. very sad.

Ejsponge61 said:

168 hours? That’s 7 days. Cool. Hopefully I’ll be able to pick up where I left of last trial. I had fun, but I’d love to see if any changes to it’s net code have helped.

GummyCore said:

September 30th, 10:39 am

They should just make a standalone single-player version and sell that at $10 cross-buy. Do that for every annual installment on day 1. Use the sp version as a hook to get people to go upgrade to full version for the mp.

Heyyyy!!._what about PS4 users? More players on PS4 than PS3.(Battlefield users not console users)

Chip1010 said:

September 30th, 11:15 am

I ripped through the campaign when they released the one-day trial earlier in the year. It was fun enough. Five or six hours is enough for me with games like this, since I don’t much care for multiplayer. It’s a fun campaign.

Chip1010 said:

September 30th, 11:20 am

At least for North America, the IGC updates on the first Tuesday of every month. The announcement of what’s coming has recently come the Wednesday before that. So there should get an announcement tomorrow.

PowerGusso-US said:

7 days trial, nice, can beat the game and have some fun on multiplayer!
This can be some kind of test related with PS Now?, see how far the player can experience the game in a week!

musclednightmare said:

September 30th, 11:34 am

Awe screw this. Trials are a waste of time. I thought this was a free ps plus game

zeenick said:

September 30th, 11:42 am

Would have been excited if the game didn’t crash so often

Havok83 said:

September 30th, 11:45 am

168 hours? Whats the catch? Does that count from the time you boot it up until 168 hours later or does it only log game time?

Chip1010 said:

September 30th, 11:50 am

If it’s anything like the previous Battlefield 3 trial, it’s [x] hours, and the clock starts when you fire it up for the first time. I don’t think the clock stops when you take a break from the game.

Chip1010 said:

September 30th, 11:51 am

(Battlefield 4 trial, I mean)

ChivamanBp said:

September 30th, 11:57 am

The free trial is going to be available for a whole week, starting from today’s update. That’s why it mentions we’ll have 168 hours, it’s one week in hours.

mnep99 said:

September 30th, 12:03 pm

Turns out we can’t get this new trial if we got the last 20 hours trial. Or is it a bug waiting to be fixed on PSN’s end?

MATTLOJO said:

BF4 on PS3 does not have 64 players. You should probably update that.

LightOfValkyrie said:

Don’t mislead people. 64 player servers are only on PC and current gen. Last gen is stuck with 24 players.

MagicCreativity said:

phinnv8 said:

This game is MUCH better on PS4 since it runs at 60fps (and has much better graphics / bigger maps) but for those that bash Battlefield 4 let me tell you it’s the *best* multiplayer FPS on the market. Especially as of the huge 2.0 update, all the bugs and issues that plagued the launch are fixed.

Ok is it the full game or a timed trial cause it looks like it says timed trial
