The Drop: New PlayStation Games for 10/28/2014
The Drop

Goblins, ghouls, ghosts, and gremlins fill the streets. Candy flows like a river of sugar. People willingly terrify themselves. Halloween is creeping around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with a shambling host of new games coming to PlayStation?

First up, Freedom Wars, coming to PS Vita. In the not-too-distant future, humans are born into incarceration. Fight for your freedom and wield insane weapons against hulking monsters. Team up with other players online, customize your character, and select a city to represent in your fight against imprisonment.

Not spooky enough for you? Not a problem. Costume Quest 2 hits PS4 and PS3 this week. This adorable RPG sequel has tricks and treats in abundance, with new environments to explore and even a Sackboy costume to use!

And if you’re just feeling a little overwhelmed by all this Halloween horror, belt out a few of your favorite tunes in SingStar, which launches this week on PS4. And you don’t even need a mic, actually. Just download the free SingStar companion app and turn your smart device into a glorious conduit of performance art. Or embarrassing karaoke. Either way.

  • Blood of the Werewolf sounds so interesting.

  • Maybe the fact most screen ID’s positive comments are Sales Hype?
Noone in the real world says so many nice things at ANYTHING, unless its free.

I say nice things about Sony and Sony developers, when I think its deserved.
    I do say it.

But I’m not a paid advertisement.

  • And oddly enough no friend invites for someone willing to prove they vita bought it digital.
    Hmmmm, how odd.

  • I’m counting the minutes for that “1.000.000” sign to show up above my head on tuesday! :3

  • Great week. I already preordered Freedom Wars, but I probably won’t even play it until I finish Costume Quest 2.

  • would be getting freedom wars if they actually put the time to dub the game during localization. SInce they didint I cant support the half attemp at this localization.

  • So drive club is almost a month delayed with now word… I’m more annoyed by the silence then anything else. Oh, and that when if finally gets released it will be nothing different then a demo with trophy support.

  • Ps I want freedom wars cause it’s in Japanese, also I’m baffled God eater 2 hasn’t been released in the west yet when it’s considered to be the better game of the two.

  • What’s with the lack of AAA titles on the PS4? It seems like these days all we get is indies. Don’t get me wrong i appreciate indies because it gives us more variety however i’m starting to get tired of 8bit graphics on a $400 next gen console..just sayin’

  • isnt tiny trooper free to play?

  • Sony PR- Thanks for never actually answering questions.

PS – Where is the PS Plus version of Driveclub you were talking about a year and a half ago?

  • We need these psvita games playable on ps3 or ps4…so many great games yet I’m not a handheld person. Make it happen Sony!

  • @107

Well we didint get God eater till Burst came out and God eater Burt 2 was just recently announced so it could come over. Hopefully whoever brings it over dubs it like the first game.

  • Whelp, since it seems like Freedom Wars is all hype.

Annnndd, since Bandai Namco ALREADY has a second release of Sword Art online, and that SCE has not had any info
    revealed about their next project.

Also since I bought Killzone Day 1, and almost did with Soul Sacrifice to watch a couple huge sales shortly after.(and those were english voiced)

Aaannd, since Bandai Namco has regular digital sales on games I seem to really enjoy (minus DBZ gameplay ).

Annnnd, since I have already watched SOA in japanese (familiar with it already).

I guess Sword Art Online for me instead.

  • @36
Love how you call it trivial just cause you dont care.

  • FREEDOM WARS AND THE “SPEND $100 GET 15” OFFER OFFICIAL INFO
Nick accordino said in another psblog post this about it:

    Hi Vzythe,
There’s unfortunately no way to pre-order the game digitally from the PSN store – you’ll have to pick it up as soon as the store updates on the 28th.
But no worries – you’ll still get the pre-order DLC, and if you grab it before midnight on the 28th, your purchase will count towards the “Get $15 for Spending $100” campaign!
I hope you love the game, and thanks for your support!
    For the Greater Good!

So just another great reason to get freedom wars day1 :)

  • 720p San Andreas w/ Trophies please.

  • @60

Freedom Wars will count, but that won’t put you over. $69.99 + $29.99 = $99.98. You’re going to have to buy something else too. I suggest home, as it’s $2.99 and a genuinely good game.

  • @111

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHA

    No.

If you’re not a handheld person, buy a PSTV. Otherwise, no Vita games for you.

  • @99
Yes it’s pretty depressing (or negative) when you talk.

    @101
Are you for real? People do say good things about a product when it’s nice. Nobody here is being paid to advertise the game. Maybe you should make some friends and learn to trust people.

  • will freedom wars be available at midnight?

  • Just wondering…wit the 2.0 update will we get a cool visualizer for when we listen to our music on USB? I LOVED the earth visualization on PS3 and would love it to return/be updated with a new planet or something….

  • My dear alv_101argand,
I’ll trust people that have earned it. I’m 37, and enough experience to know better.

You have 16 friends on your ID, so not much to add about that one.
The fact you few, have taken time to reply to my statements to Sony/developers means so much to me.

I didn’t say every poster was an advertisement by them, but am not naive to how business works.

I was speaking to Sony Media (if they read), on ideas to make it better.
Sometimes when reason is presented, and its possible, things may change.
    Then again they may not.
I do buy digital regularly when its price worthy, and not going to encourage overpriced sales.
So my statements are completely relevant, that is untill posters like you feel the need to comment about myself or others’ opinions.

Oddly enough more people seem to post about what they are getting, instead of how they liked it, or making friends to play the game they just advertised.
(Because its seriously to hard to remove/block a friend on your friends list if it be too troublesome)

You want trust, invite me, prove you actually buy video games (instead of overhyping your next game rental) because I seek those who actually play/buy.

  • @60 Don’t forget. Plenty of avatars for cheap.

  • @ Ryan Clements
Where is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Remastered version?
Are you guys going to bring it to PSN for the PS3?
Xbox360 has it AND it has achievements!! It’s also said to be released on mobile devices too… so where is the announcements for the GTA: San Andreas HD Remastered version coming to PS3????

  • Can you please start including prices in “The Drop” posts?
I’d really like to know what the prices are for the games.

    Thanks

  • @134
Wow just wow. You poked at me for having 16 psn friends and then say I am “ASSUMING” that the comment was directed at me. How desperate are you?

  • So can Freedom Wars be played on the PS TV? Also when can you download it?

  • SAN ANDREAS HD?! :(

  • Exciting week for games. Really looking forward to costume quest 2 and Lords of the Fallen.

  • @143
Yes and your point? You said I mistakenly assumed your @124 to be about me.

    @150
    Okay “jerk” now “silence” yourself.

  • I am looking forward to learning which titles will be added to the IGC for November.

I know that The Binding of Isaac is one of them, and anything that gives religion a nice, sharp slap in the face is definitely on my list, even if it IS a port of a previously released Steam title that is several years old.

Excepting that title, I have heard rumors that November’s IGC additions will all be more indie shovelware, with no AAA titles for any of the three systems. I dread that happening, but, seeing how things have gone for PS4 and Vita owners lately, I have very little hope.

One day, when the industry hits another crash because The Big Three are oversaturating the market with crapware, hopefully Sony will remember this. This obsession with indie games has gone on long enough.

NO ONE BUYS A PS4 OR A PS VITA TO PLAY OLD PORTS OF ANDROID GAMES.

  • How about the quiet classic Wu Tang Clan: Shoalin Style?

  • Finally HOME launches on PS4! Hope all my purchases from the PS3 version convert over……see what I did there? Anyone? Looks like this is the only way we can say HOME made it to PS4……

  • AWESOME costume quest 2 with exclusive sackboy costume

  • Beyond! Very much looking forward to Freedom Wars.

  • Blood of the Werewolf on Vita, please….looks like a natural for the handheld….

  • yees freedom wars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant wait please support the vita we need more game we need a new need for speed

  • freedom wars!!!

  • Just a quick question Sony.
I understand the need to remove comments for childish/petty insults, and don’t mind that you just erased a 5 person-tag team on me, but ……..leaving the jerk comment…..wow.

  • FREEDOM WARS!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!

  • FWEEEDOM WARS!!

  • I guess back to deleting wisdom again (unless another day-long delay).

No worries Sony, I’ll still make use of your $15 rebate if you still honor it. (or is that subject to change)?

  • When does the PS Vita get Run Sackboy Run?

  • Hey Sony you can make it up to me with a Paasite Eve sale.
Or how about an unexpected Costume Quest sale, for those on the fence, or a little short on cash :)

Anything less than Halloween, just isn’t right.

  • I wish you guys Release the game on midnight on the psn network. we have to wait till it 2pm central time

  • @Resolution – No man you just type too much and it’s too much complaining all the time. People get sick f it. Theres your wisdom right there

@101argand – Dont worry about that guy man he’s obviously a troublemaker

@Croddapoosta – So what man. What do you expect for 50 bones a year? I’m suprised we get what we do to be honest.Just get a job and you can buy whatever you want and never have to rely on plus anymore, and many indie games are fun anyway. There’s no problem with those

  • I see everyone hyped for Freedom Wars. No love for Lords of the Fallen?? This game looks very promising!!

  • @107
    So I complain?
Better than hearing the same mindless spam about how great Freedom Wars is when noone has really played it, and no demo available.

If you tire of it, don’t read it, comment on it. Obviously I don’t, even when I get tag teamed by the special education department.

Atleast stay on topic, and relevant. Which is what the post says.

Better yet get a Plus membership before complaining about MEMBERS’ comments about THEIR service.

  • Sorry its @147 , but it may change.
