SingStar Out Now on PS4, PS3

The newly revamped version of SingStar is out now for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, and it’s free on PlayStation Store. This new, redesigned digital version of SingStar lets consumers customize their in-game song choices with the purchase of individual songs for $1.49 or song packs containing 5 songs for $6.99 (purchase of in-game content is required for gameplay). If you are new to SingStar, we also have selected demo tracks available for free download on the SingStore, so you can check out the fun before you buy. We couldn’t be more excited!

As we mentioned in previous posts one of the key new features with this version of SingStar is the SingStar Mic app which turns your compatible smart device into a microphone. Just download the free app to your Android, iPhone, or iPod Touch and connect it to your PS4 or PS3 system with a wifi connection and start singing. Look for it on the App Store or Google Play store today.

How does the trophy “Anniversary Gift” work? It says play on Singstars original launch date, does that mean 11/3 or do I need to change it back to when it was supposed to be released(last Tuesday)?

Should have specified, the disc version. I can see that I can transfer my separately purchased music, but that makes me think it’ll be removed from the PS3 version…

Any word on new SingStore updates? The library of songs is a bit lackluster, especially on the PS4.
I know that, if a song is available on the PS4 SingStore and you already bought it on the PS3, you get that version for free. But does it work the other way? As in: If you buy a song on the PS4 SingStore, you also get the PS3 version too?

Hope things get sorted out so Americans can get more regular SingStore updates soon!

i am having issues with the singstar app for the ps4 because it does not know that i have bought songs for the ps3 app.in other words it does not show at all.it does not appear on my dnld history either,please fix this since you promised us that the songs previously bought on ps3 would carry over the ps4!

  Sorry you are having issues with that. First please make sure you are logging in with the same PSN account that purchased the songs on your PS3. You can also find more details on transferring your songs at SingStar.com

Valde_zerocool, the date for the Anniversary Gift trophy is the day the first ever Singstar game was released back in 2004 on the PS2 – 21 May.

When we got SingStar for the PS3, we were able to import tracks from PS2 SingStar discs. Will the new version support this on the PS4?

In more important news…. it has been not (officially confirmed) but looks like plenty of legit reports that Driveclub PS+ edition will be put on FURTHER HOLD as Sony is now working on trying to fix the issue with the Rest mode in a patch.

These titles are embarassing especially as a PS4 owner. I mean you could choose from many different titles such as Metal Gear Solid, Need for Speed, Assassian’s creed, Tomb Raider Golf Club. Driveclub PS+ is still on hold and rest mode still isn’t fixed. This is embarassing. For a game that was supposed to destroy Forza we are looking really silly right now as PS4 owners. I hold the lack of an official announcement is due to you coming to your senses and giving us REAL games.

Why is Driveclub on the top banner of all the blogs and post and everything SONY when the game one does not work. The PS+ edition has not been released and further put on hold. I am surprised that if anyone paid for Driveclub they have not turned it in and awaiting The Crew which will be a MUCH better game. Why would you put a game that isn’t even functioning on top of the page. I guess it is a symbol for Sony that everything is pretty much broken. If I did not dislike Xbox so much I would get one. This is EMBARASSING as a PS4 owner. The fact that blogs and post continue to come out about stuff like this game is embarassing. Out of your fan base maybe 5% care about this game. The true loyal fans care about Driveclub PS+ edition, an OFFICIAL PS+ November release announcement and a FIX/PATCH to REST MODE ERROR.

So, we can use old game discs with the standalone PS3 version but not the PS4 version?

I don’t understand how there’s any technical limitation to accomplishing this. The DVD and BluRay formats are completely backwards compatible.

So, this is a choice rather than a limitation.

Problem is you’re destroying customer relations and goodwill with this move and will lose support for the product.

It’s a very lightly sold product in the US to begin with. You’ve just lost at least one customer/household for your new content by doing this.

@Jenny Barbour: Your own statement about PS4 not playing PS2 or PS3 discs isn’t an explanation or a valid justification, it’s double-talk. By that logic, then the PS3 shouldn’t support PS2 disc swaps, since PS2 discs no longer play in post GeoHotz PS3 machines. Yet it does… Hmmm…

Hrm, guess I shouldn’t have bothered with the PS4 version, just kept to PS3. Hopefully I can still redownload my songs. It was a pain in the butt when my original PS3 died. Only licensed to be on a single device at a time, had to call Sony support and have them manually reset my Singstar purchases.

If we transfer purchases from PS3 , where we have libraries due to the old discs being supported to the PS4 then we can no longer access the purchases on PS3?!?! Really?

The PS4 version has bizarre holes in the song library: No Blur, Duran Duran, David Bowie. Only one Weird Al song.

I tried singing using the iOS application, and it was really spotty in its detection even when I projected my voice really well. Then I tried the PS4 Camera as the microphone, and that was also not picking up my voice very well, even when I got really close. I was hoping SingStar would identify my face using the PS4 Camera, and then use the directional mic best for my location like the Kinect 2.0 applications do, but I guess not.

It’s okay, as I’m happy using my microphones anyway ;)

When will SingStar come to PSTV?

any news on Everybody Dance being updated for PS4? Just Dance 2015 was a disappointment for me, as it doesn’t use the PS4 stereo camera and Move together for great accuracy. It also still doesn’t tell you what you did wrong, making it pretty frustrating for a trophy hunter.

But damn, the new PS3 version is fantastic. Everything works great. I can even re-download my old UK import library without issue. Also stuff I transferred to PS4 still works on PS3. Plays tracks from the PS3 Singstar disc too.

Really happy now, just a shame that the PS4 version can’t be as complete.

Only “Hey Jealousy” by the Gin Blossoms won’t download on PS3, and I can’t find a way to remove just that from PS4. Not a big deal, don’t care about that particular song and everything else is working great.

I played around with the new PS3 Singstar app the other day and couldn’t find any way to switch between short and normal length versions of songs. Normally, I would assume I missed something except for the fact I noticed that there’s no way to change difficulty settings now either (along with a couple of other missing features I didn’t really use from the previous app version). In fact, if I’m being completely honest, I don’t really see any improvements with this new version other than the more current design of the interface — which actually took me a while to figure out how to use to access what was still there in this stripped down version.

First of all, thank you for letting us transfer songs we purchased on the PS3 to the PS4. Before I hit the big scary transfer button, I’d like to know if this will make my purchased songs unavailable on the PS3 version?

I have a ton of PS2 and PS3 discs, so I won’t be abandoning the PS3 version any time soon, but I’d like to know my downloads will still be on my PS3 if I download my past purchases to the PS4.

What happened to my Dance songs? what happened to my 1 guitar song? What happened to my Little Big Planet theme, and my custom theme with the great Grandia 1 Picture with the soft playful music?

What happened to MY singstar?

Are we getting any of that back in future updates? Some PSN credit something? Just Dance is a horrible game. I was hoping the Ultimate Party mix would have the Dance versions built in… Feels like a huge let down. I don’t understand why so much has changed? It’s like some dude from Xbox came over and just sabotaged you guys from the inside out…

I had the same issue at the PS3 with the old app and now, with the PS4.

Please, check this. A lot of players had this problem, and I’m sure they are facing this again and again like me.

It is kinda disappointing to be anxious for the launch of the PS4 SingStar, for for a solution for the old lag issue and… Nothing happens.

I don’t think these games are embarrassing in any way. The ones that are released are all well-reviewed, and the ones that aren’t out yet are looking good. And the Binding of Isaac sequel is the follow-up to a game that was very well-reviewed.

I know it’s a matter of opinion, but don’t think for a second that all PS4 owners think like you do.

I’m actually very pleased with this month’s Plus games.

Hi,

Is there any way to delete songs from my PS4 and get the licenses back for PS3? My library is now split between the two and it’s a bit frustrating.

There’s a “delete media” button under Singstar settings, but it says there’s no media to delete. I assume that’s intended for recorded performances.

The new store layout looks GREAT. The song selection, though…I don’t even know what to say about that. I was hoping that only a few of the songs that I bought wouldn’t be transferable, but apparently over half weren’t.

I didn’t see this anywhere so I apologize if it’s already been posted, but will there be updates to what songs will be able to transfer from PS3 to PS4? I would guess there’ll be periodic updating with new song additions, but I’d love to see that for the songs I already bought as well. With the PS4 being so share-friendly, it’d be a shame for my camera that’s already collecting dust to still not get any use because my whole library of songs is still on my last-gen console. Anyways, I don’t know how licensing works so maybe that can’t even happen. I’d love to hear what the plans are for the future, though.
