Bloodborne Update: Now Launching March 24th

Bloodborne on PS4

Dear community,

It is with regret that I must inform you that Bloodborne will be slightly delayed.

While development continues unabated, we would like our team to deliver the best possible final experience. We were gratified by the feedback and data we received from those who participated in our limited Alpha test. The extra production time will also allow us to better integrate these learnings.

Bloodborne is now set to launch in North America exclusively on PS4 on March 24th, 2015.

Please look forward to some exciting Bloodborne news in early December. Thank you very much for your continued support.

  • Sony… thank you! February was killing it with games. I would rather an extra month of it being worked on than an extra month of it sitting on shelves since there is way too many other games to play then. Just don’t go and delay The Order too!

  • Have no complaints about this. Plus it was coming out the same month as The Order so I’m kind of glad there was a delay so we have something to look forward to the month following The Order. Plus if this makes it a better game I’m all for that. Looking forward to this!

  • Take all the time you need. The last thing gamers need is another Assassin’s C reed Unity, Battlefield 4 or Driveclub. There are too many big games being released in a broken state. Developers and Publishers need to show gamers some more respect and release a product that does not need a day one patch to work as intended. Or multiple patches within a month. If that means delaying a game, well, delay it. I rather have a working game than a frustrating experience.

Sony and Microsoft also need to stand up for the consumer and deny certification for broken games. We need stricter guidelines on what can pass and be sold to the gamer.

Again, take as much time as you need with Bloodborn to make it the best possible game/experience you can and thank you.

  • And….have a closed beta so we can give more feedback to improve the final product?!!

I have it on good authority that the alpha test version was pretty darn good, better than most finished games.

  • Although I wanted to ensure this game released long before MGS5 :C If MGS5’s release date is around the same time, I’m going to have trouble, cause I want to play the crap out of MGS5 first! >.< GAH

  • Well that’s terrific! Hey you know what that reminds me of? Are we gonna here any news about DriveClub? It’s been a couple of weeks since the latest lame @ss apology. I don’t even care about the PS+ version anymore. I just want to know what is going to be done for people who bought, and preordered the game. A friend of mine is stuck with it. Has Evolution just given up altogether? I won’t pay full price for a game, or another cent into PS+ until I hear how Sony, and Evolution are going to make that train wreck right.

  • This is a very wise move. Please ignore the minority on here aka the crybabies that are complaining about not getting this game in February. They are some of the most entitled I have ever seen. They want you to rush this game so they can complain how many bugs and glitches it has. I for one applaud this move. Besides there were too many great games coming out in February. This gives me more time to save money for the game too :)

I’m looking forward to your masterpiece.

  • This is the game I have been waiting for since ps2 days.. It has that “wow, this is Epic” look. Next Gen look! Thank you for not rushing it! Take your time! Waited this long (11+ years?”). I am hyped. Now let me try the next Beta phase! XD!

  • And yet you ALL bought a PS4 without waiting for a finished product.

    Ironic.

  • I need a new planet and species already.

  • SACRED CITADEL IS STILL NOT AT THE ADVERTISED PRICE!!!!

I wouldn’t even be on this Blog, if it were.

Sonic Adventures made the kids happy, would have been promoting a few of your sales instead.

  • Disappointing but honestly, it’s nice to hear a developer taking its time to finish a game right. Too many titles are being rushed out the door this year. I’m sure it’s a necessary evil, and I’m equally sure From Software will do a great job on another amazing game. Looking forward to it.

  • And how about worrying less about why and how people spend their money? People bought a PS4 because they wanted one. You didn’t because of whatever your reasons are. And that’s fine. End of story.

On topic, yeah, the delay is disappointing. But I’m not upset about it. Because it’s From Software, I know I will be receiving high quality on March 24th. It’s the same reason I wasn’t mad about Arkham Knight getting delayed. When companies like this have excellent track records, they’re not delaying just for ****s and giggles. You have to trust the process and understand that they know more about what’s going on than you do.

  • The polish of Demon’s Souls experience was one of they key factors in its success. Worry not, the community will gladly wait an extra month to get a better experience! :D

  • Good news. The enemies weapons would go through walls while yours didnt. Didn’t make any sense there was a lot of cheap deaths in the game. Hope they fix that. Old gen issues need to go away.

  • No problem at all, I appreciate Fromsoftware and Sony’s focus on quality of the product and I’m sure they will exceed our high expectations as always!

    Special Thanks to: Masaaki Yamagiwa

No, I bought a finished product that I knew would be iterated upon and updated over time. Just like many games. Please, find another planet. We don’t want you on this one anymore. Or this blog.

  • There truly is plenty of games to play for the PS4, I can wait for Bloodborne. My first PS4 was destroyed by an evil girlfriend but now I went out and got myself a new glazier white PS4 and recommend people play Destiny or middle earth: Shadow of Mordor, both are great games, I cannot recommend Lords of the fallen because I haven’t played it yet, should be good enough to get through the winter months. P.S. ….Far Cry 4 nov 18th!!!!!!!

  • Nice, i better to start saving money to buy ps4+bloodborne

  • You should time it so we get at least one big exclusive a month next year. Bloodborne in March sounds good to me.

  • I’m actually somewhat relieved to hear this. I’m certain that Bloodborne would’ve been great either way, but an extra month of polish will doubtlessly help everything feel nicer. And, I’m unfortunately not quite sure if I’d enjoy the game, as I haven’t been able to try any of the past Souls games.

I believe that the unspoken reason for this delay is to save The Order: 1886, though. Given the press’ bad reactions to the same demo being shown everywhere, and the fact that another Victorian style game was releasing before it in the same month (Which was highly praised and is supposed to have many hours of content), I was fairly worried about the fate of The Order, and thus the potential franchise.

Now that The Order is releasing first, it’ll hopefully be able to find its footing and lay a foundation for the future.

  • I have no issue for game being delayed a few weeks or months. 2014 had to many games that weren’t finished/polished, the initial experienced suffered. I hope developers/publishers learn from 2014 and deliver a great 2015! I’m looking forward to seeing what Masaaki Yamagiwa and his team did for the finished product. My first PS4 exclusive purchase, CAN”T WAIT. Please release the Nightmare Edition for North America gamer, PLEASE!
