Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd Hits PS3, Vita Today!

The time has come! The release of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd on PS3 and PS Vita is here!

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd

Over the past year, we here at SEGA have traveled across the US to bring Project DIVA to you all. I have witnessed the unifying power of Miku firsthand, and seen how her music and her games bring people together with her message of universal positivity. I’ve met some of the most wonderful people through this project, and for that I thank you all.

For you long-time fans, this is the best Project DIVA release yet. For those of you who first played Project DIVA last year with our first international release, you are in for a real treat discovering the songs that made Miku what she is today. And with the sequel launching today, you’ll finally get to experience English subtitles on the songs for the very first time. For those of you who have yet to experience Miku and Project DIVA, now is the time to jump on board. With 40 songs that mix both new and classic hits, you are in for an unforgettable experience as you discover the incredible world of Miku.

If you are a returning fan, the controls and game mechanics have seen enhancements and improvements over the previous game. There are now Double Stars and Linked Stars, and you now have the option to use the analog sticks instead of the touchscreen on the PS Vita version.

We are also including Cross-Save for the mega fans out there who want to own the game on both PS3 and PS Vita. This will allow you to sync your save data between versions, allowing you to shoot for perfect scores both at home and on the go.

Edit Mode has seen very important improvements as well. First, we have included sample Edits to help you learn the ins and outs of Edit creation. Second, you are able to import any Edits created in the first Project DIVA F. There have been updates to the creation interface, such as allowing you to preview the song while adjusting target positions, as well as letting you hear the button sounds when previewing so you can line up the sound track better. I’m really looking forward to seeing the Edits you create! Edit Mode is your chance to give back to the community!

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd

We have one last feature we have not yet revealed…

Japanese Save Data Importing

This is a special feature for fans who not only imported the Japanese version, but are also buying the English version to support our efforts. Using this feature, the English version of Project DIVA F 2nd will read the Cross-Save data from the Japanese version, and merge that progress with your English process. It even works across platforms, so if you have a Japanese PS3 version, you can import into your English PS Vita version! Note though that this is a one-time, one-direction feature.

The option is on the title screen, so you can’t miss it. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

As I mentioned in my last blog post, we have six months of post-launch downloadable content in the pipeline, starting with the first content coming on December 9th. Don’t miss out on our club membership promotion either! Join the Song Club and Costume Club to get 25% savings on all the post-launch content.

Again, to everyone who has supported us, thank you! Keep tapping those buttons, and we’ll see you next time!

  • I first experienced Miku with the PS3 demo last year, and then I decided to pick up the PS vita version back in March. And man, am I glad I did! I can’t get enough of Miku and her pals and that darn awesome catchy music! Thanks again for bringing over this version as well, I will be picking up that vita version when the PS store updates later today.

  • I’m super excited and my copy is already on the way from Amazon.

I know it’s a different game in the series, but I’d love it if someone from SEGA could address, even if somewhere else (SEGA blog, Facebook, Twitter), whether or not the new version of Mirai 2 will still have the Puyo mode intact. The west is ten years overdue for another Puyo!

  • That Miku hype

  • That save data import addition is incredible. I didn’t import the Japanese version but I am waiting for Amazon to ship my copy if the PDf 2nd on Vita.

  • “It even works across platforms, so if you have a Japanese PS3 version, you can import into your English PS Vita version!”

    YEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

This is pretty awesome to hear, wouldn’t have been too bothered if it wasn’t so, but given this is my situation (JPN PS3, EU Vita), knowing I can just chuck the data I’ve already got over and get to playing whatever songs I want makes me more excited for this.

Now I just need to find out if I’ve got the cross-save on, make sure my Vita can connect to my local GAME’s wi-fi… Then I can be up and running even before I’ve left the store! :D

  • Save data import is really cool but too bad I only imported the first Project Diva f, so I’ll need to get those modules all over again in English 2nd :(

    • Yeah, it you had the JP VITA version of PDF2, you could pull all that data. But this time around, there is a ‘Unlockables’ feature (select a song, button on the left) that tells you what you need to do to get various unlocks, so you’ll know what you’ll need to do.

  • when will the dlc songs start rolling in?

  • Great launch trailer. Definitely looking forward to the DLC.

  • I am curious about this save import feature.

Well, I have the japanese PS3 version and I want to get this version for my Vita, so if I import my PS3 save will it import just some things like Diva Points, modules/costumes/acessories etc or will it import everything I have on that save like opened/finished songs, trophies, relationship levels, challenges, etc?

Anyway, thanks a lot for localize this game on these sides :D

    • The import feature for JP data utilizes PlayStation’s Cross-Save feature, and is thus platform independent. It’s syncs everything that the normal cross save features does, so DIVA points, unlocks, DIVA Room status, etc. It doesn’t sync your game settings though. There’s more detail about what Cross-Save transfers in the manual (check page 15 in the VITA e-manual).

  • Holy crap, save data importing! Thanks, Sega!
I played 55 hours on the JP version of the game…

  • Now I am just waiting for my copy to arrive from amazon
Can’t wait to play this game the first one was a lot of fun so I am really looking forward to play this

  • I will do whatever it takes to get this game (PS3 physical copy). Where i live (Argentina) there arent many Miku fans, so this game (like the others) will never make it here. BUT I NEED MY MIKU DAILY DOSE. DONT MESS WITH AN ADDICT!!! (Quite the overreaction dont you think?)

Anyway, Thanks Sega and sorry for the bad grammar.

    • What bad grammar? It’s surely better than my own!

I hope you can score a copy. Make some new Miku fans down there in Argentina!

  • Don’t care about this weeaboo girly music game.

Where are the 30 dlc packs we were promised for Freedom Wars?

  • Marvelous! Definitely getting it tomorrow.

  • Hi Sam,

This is a great game, thank you for bringing it over from Japan. I hope you guys will bring a upgraded version of this game to the PS4 next year. Also please bring the two new Yakuza games that are on the PS4 in Japan to NA, Europe, and the rest of the world. Bringing games over as digital only wouldn’t be as costly and would be great for fans of the series.

I wanted to ask if you guys would consider on making “Dynamic Themes” and “Avatar Pictures” for the PS4. Your game would look cool displayed on everyone’s PS4.

    Cheers!!!

    Rob aka Graf

  • @13 And here’s the obligatory ignorant comment that appears on every Project Diva related post or video.

Silly comment aside, I’d like to thank Sega for bringing this over to the West and I plan on getting both the PS3 and Vita versions, and more importantly, transferring my save from the import. Keep up the great work.

  • Excelente, compra en dia 1, gracias sega.

  • And where’s Playstation tv support?

No vita tv support, no buy

Why sega loves to lose money?

    • Actually, Project DIVA F 2nd does support Playstation TV. However, note that functionality that requires the touchscreen won’t work. So you can fully enjoy the Rhythm Game portions (just remember to switch Star Targets to the analog sticks in the Other menu), but some of the other features will be limited.

  • BUYING IT NEXT PAYCHECK IMMEDIATELY! :D

  • Been looking forward to this and have money saved in my wallet but I do not see an option to add it to my cart or even see a price for the game. What’s up PSN store?

  • Unfornately for me I`ll have to wait until next week to pick up a copy, have to put down a couple payments this week.
Also my fault for forgetting about the release date again and for not having any extra funds saved up.
I most likely will end up getting a copy for both platforms next week some night after work, while running some errands.

  • Will get it soon enough, anyways guys, the Vita version should be up on US PSN right now along with the first wave DLC associated with it. PS3 version should come up a little later.

Got the first one for both versions, might do the same with F 2nd! X3

    @givevitagamesnow
Then why bother posting something rude when you shouldn’t bother to post it in the first place, ugh, the nerve of some people. And besides, this isn’t the appropriate article to post up on, wait on an update post for that game here on the PS blog or something.

To get back on track and on topic, anyways, tried it out at the Miku Expo – Halloween Event and it was awesome, and now to have it in the palm of my hands! X3

And I was expecting Aaron from SEGA to usually quote/reply, but Sam will do too if necessary, oh and guys, just as a reminder, any questions concerning other SEGA titles, Sam may not comment on it, and would might say, we’ll look into those titles eventually or if necessary, so yeah, I’m expecting it from replies right after this one.

  • PlayStation tv compatible?

  • Is there a reason why this shares the same trophy list as the japanese release?

  • I gatta go pick up my copy today. I enjoy the series so much I bought the vita version for part one when it was on sale even though I owned for ps3 already.

I have one important question. Are we ever going to get avatars for this series? I want a meiko avatar :(

  • The greatest music game in the world is finally here~

Going to buy the passes as soon as I can today. I’ve imported a few of the PSP games and Mirai ever since getting into vocaloid because of Project Diva F last year, so it’s really great to see you guys localize the games (and dlc) so quickly now.

Anyway, I do have to ask you guys at Sega about adding PSTV support to PDF2. This is coming from a guy with a busted PS3 x_x Would really be great if you added it in a future update. I think the Japanese version even supports it too? So I guess it won’t be long a wait.

Also, it’d be a dream come true if you guys made a Diva game on PS4. Maybe even consider multiplayer someday? I have quite a few vocaloid friends who’d love to see that happen!

  • Thanks for being such a long term fan. It’s fans like you who have really help us drive this overseas release.

Project DIVA F 2nd does support PlayStation TV, but only for the main rhythm game. Since there is no touchscreen support on PS TV, portions of the title that required that function will be limited.

  • Oh wait, it does support PSTV? I’ll have to try it then! I’m going to be awesome and use the DualShock 4 touchpad to hit star targets (if that works) =3

    • It does run on PS TV, but you’ll need to switch the Star Notes over to the analog sticks since the PS4 touchpad isn’t supported.

  • Definitely worth the wait. Are there going to be some songs from the 1st Mix returning to the 2nd Mix? It’s cool either way. On to pass all of the songs on every difficulty again. And the legend continues.. :D

  • I couldn’t be happier than I am now, I was waiting for this game for a ling time, probably since was announced in Japan. Thank you again for bringing this game. I will of course get the Platinum trophie :D

  • Does the 1st project diva F work on the PS TV? I bought it while it was on sale and it says it is on the store but when I try it it wont work.

  • Love the original glad this came for my vita!! Also love it in Round 1. But i wonder Sega have you ever thought of a Sonic rythmn game? I mean Sonic literally has a ton of music.

  • does the game work with pstv?

  • DEFINITELY downloading this for the Vita. Hoping that there is a Miku Flick/03 in the works on another device too ;)
The first Project Diva is quite challenging and I like how you can use powerups to help you out!

    • Project DIVA F 2nd allows you to stack up to three challenge or help items. So you can make things as hard or easy as you want!

  • Not too crazy with this title.
How about some other choices for Vita?

  • So much yay!

  • I wish there was cross-buy for both the game and the DLC

  • Will Song Club only be available for a limited time, or will you be able to purchase it and receive all of the released songs it would have included indefinitely? I really want to purchase it, but even just buying the game itself is a cost I can’t really afford, was thinking of adding the Song Club to my Christmas wish list. :)

    • The Club offers are on-going and don’t currently have any planned end dates. So they will still be there when you get around to them :)

  • @32 (LovelessxZombie)

SOMEONE GIVE THIS PERSON A COOKIE FOR THE BEST IDEA EVER!

Seriously, why is this NOT a thing?!? The Sonic series has some of THE BEST stage music (Mainly Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Sonic and Knuckles, in my opinion). I’d throw money at Sega just to play Flying Battery Zone, Mushroom Hill Zone, or even Mystic Cave or Casino Night, ON REPEAT! Lol.

  • Then you should go change the store if possible it says it is compatible with the tv

  • Undecided whether I should get this, or the other game for my Vita.

I’ll most likely get this, but we’ll see.

  • @41 (yawnawn)

Why choose? Get both! If you like rhythm games, you can’t go wrong with both. While each have a different set of songs, you don’t want to “miss” a single note of ANY of these wondrous songs. I own the 1st mix, the song list is great. I can’t wait to start the this one.

  • Hello SEGA and thank you for bringing Diva F 2nd into the US.
I was told by my friends who reside in Yokohama and Osaka, “The second Hatsune Miku title is the hardcore gamer’s edition”. I already have the 1st Hatsune Miku game from PSN and by their comments I can only presume this one is tougher than the first one. And that’s why I’m getting it ;-)
Just in case you guys at SEGA are planning a third sequel to the DIVA Series, please make use of the near functionality. I’d love to perfect a game, get some random-and-rare item and trade it for something I can only manage to get from someone else.
Last but not least, I know SEGA’s Virtua Tennis and Sonic All Stars RT release back in 2012 was the company’s initial bet on the Vita. And it saddens me to know the 3DS has been receiving a lot of Sony’s games lately but the Vita has not.
So can we expect at least a sequel for Virtua Tennis on the Vita in the near future?

Thank you for your Vita support.

    • Some people say that Project DIVA F 2nd is harder than the first. I personally I think it’s similar on average, but the toughest songs are harder than Project DIVA F’s toughest songs.

And I’ve got no news for you on Virtua Tennis :) Sorry!

  • Just picked up both the PS3 and Vita versions I pre-ordered from GameStop. Thanks Sega for bringing this over!!

  • “And it saddens me to know the 3DS has been receiving a lot of SONIC’s games lately but the Vita has not.”
    Duuhh. -_-‘
    Fixed.

  • @42

Oh I can get both, I wanna use my money wisely so I can have some left for something to get.

  • I LOVE YOU SEGA THANKS FOR THIS

  • downloading it *w*

  • Hooray!!! Already imported it on Vita but will definitely pick up the PS3 version.

Later today maybe. Kind of sick right now. :(

  • Wow, wasn’t expecting an import data transfer…that’s awesome! Does that include DLC purchases as well? For example I purcahsed Kocchi Muite Baby off the JPN store, will I be able to import that over without needing to pay for the song again?

Definitely considering the double dip for the english subtitles but I need an answer to this first. Thanks for bringing Miku to the States again and good luck against some VERY stiff release day competition today!
