Knack Turns One: Easter Eggs, Ultra-Rare Statue

Hello again, PlayStation nation!

It’s hard to believe that just a little over one year ago many of you embarked on a grand journey with one of PlayStation’s newest heroes, Knack. As a producer, it’s been my pleasure to hear so many heartwarming stories of fans playing together with their families and friends, searching for special relics and tackling the larger than life story within PS4‘s first exciting year. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support.

To celebrate Knack’s 1st birthday, I’d like to share a little-known easter egg with all of you Knack fans, as well as tease a special opportunity for those of you who make your way to PlayStation Experience in December.

Close observers of Knack’s stages might have recognized a few familiar shapes hidden within the walls and scenery. Take this screenshot from stage 1-2 for example:

Notice the small Knack shape hidden on the left pillar? That’s what we call a “Hidden Knack”!

Inspired by the “Hidden Mickeys” that keen observers can spot at Disney parks, the team at Japan Studio placed over 45 Hidden Knacks throughout the campaign of Knack! There are some pretty tricky ones hidden throughout the game – can you spot the Hidden Knacks in the screenshots below?

Lastly, feast your eyes on these 3D-printed Knack statues, specially made by the Knack team at Japan Studio.

To celebrate the 1-year Anniversary of Knack, three of these ultra rare statues (there are less than 10 in the world!) will be given away at the Community booth at PlayStation Experience in December! Details regarding this promotion are forthcoming, so please stay tuned!

Please patch the game to make diamond relics easier to find! I was a huge fan of this game and would really like to platinum it.

Im on my 5th playthrough, i have 7 diamond relics and so far i havent found a single one on my last or current play through, its getting beyond ridiculous now, is there an easy way to find diamonds relics?

Hey Nick,

This a great game and I look forward to sequels of it in the years to come. Also please consider on patching the game to allow for a easier of diamond relics.

I wanted to ask if you guys would consider on making “Dynamic Themes” and “Avatar Pictures” for the PS4. Your game would look cool displayed on everyone’s PS4.I know I would love to show off Knack on my PS4.

This was my launch game at retail (since something happened to driveclub). I was let down so, so hard. I really had no fun at all. I enjoyed Contrast though, and thank goodness for Resogun.

I’m very interested in this game. Knack seems like a 3D rendition of the very successful type of 2D game similar to “The Binding of Isaac,” that feature small battlegrounds and repetitive-but-adictingly-fun gameplay. Plus the graphics are top-notch, and the long, challenging campaign seems enough to provide a very satisfying adventure. Something tells me that the game was rated much lower than it should have been.

I’m really hoping that I can find a discounted ($20 CDN) digital version of this game (I much prefer digital downloads to swapping discs), or that there are plans to release it on PS Plus in the near future.

I enjoyed Knack, one of my first PS4 games. I just wish you could grow and shrink at will, playing as big Knack was just a blast.

I think there’s potential for something great with this game’s concept, so I hope the poor reception it got doesn’t make you guys give up on it… but there’s a lot of improvement needed if you ever want to reach that potential. I’d love to see it happen though.

I loved this game. Beat it about 6 times I believe. The only problem I had with it was the diamond rarity I guess. Trophies based purely on chance shouldn’t exist, they take no skill. I don’t buy games to gamble. Other than that I’m really looking forward to another entry.

If the game supported second player local trophies I would have bought it day one so my wife and I can play. Yes, I post about this topic every time I can because it’s one of the biggest disappointments with my PS4 purchase. I started with the PS3 last gen and ended up playing most of my games on the 360 because it meant my wife was getting the same experience I was(and games ran better…but that’s a different topic). One year later LBP3 has the same problem. Support your own features!

I wouldn’t mind seeing a Knack 2 after The Last Guardian (But if I get news that that game’s been put on the backburner for other stuff again, then I may cry). People seem to forget that franchises have pretty much never been perfect on their first try, such as Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank (IMO), or Uncharted.

Heck, I’ll probably be having to say this again soon after The Order: 1886 launches. I hope that y’all take all of the many suggestions into account if a sequel is greenlit, such as freeing it up a bit, making Knack likable (Seriously just remove the gruff voice), and adding some more gameplay variety.

I would’ve loved to see more “Crash Bandicoot Boulder” camera style sections, or another stealth area. And possibly even mixing the different elemental artifacts?

Knack was a great launch title. It reminds me of gameplay I enjoyed back in the PS1 and PS2 era. Back before everything involved shooting someone/something in the head. Knack’s platforming was addictive and beautiful. I spent a lot of time with that game, and yes, I did get the Platinum! First ever on my day one PS4! Really enjoyed that game.

Despite what a lot of people say, this is a great game. I would love to see a Knack 2 and I really think this would be a great kid’s movie — any plans to bring Knack to movie theaters?

Also, if you guys do make a sequel, it would be awesome to see a playable level as the Professor or Lucas! They are as much part of the team as Knack!

I was unable to find the hidden Knack in the 3rd pic lol…..btw I’m looking forward to play Knack,just bought my PS4 like 1 week ago and I’m definitely getting Knack at some point next year….or maybe for Christmas?….Well I hope that the game is as fun as I think.

Knack was the first game I ever played on my PS4 and it remains one of my favorite games on the system. I played it with my daughter co-op and she loved it so much she continued to play the rest all by herself. I was so proud when she beat the game on her own. It’s that special feeling that only someone who plays video games can understand because I know all the work and effort it takes to finish a game.

Now about Knack 2… I’m feeling an open world game with goblin forts that need to be conquered. What are the chances?

Is there any hope we will ever see a Knack 2? From what I read it sounded like it sold fairly well.

Knack was the 2nd game I got for my PS4 and I still love it! Took me forever to get all the diamond relics needed as well but it was still a really fun game and excellent action / platformer. I’m glad to see that there’s still interest in it and really hope that we get another Knack game!

Also I agree @27, online co-op would be awesome.

I really enjoyed this game and didn’t quite get the mixed reception it received. Great environments and a nice throwback to PS1/2 era action platformers.

I notice a lot of Hidden Knaks on my play troughs. Like other players said it brought me back to the PS1/PS2 Era. Crash Bandicoot was the PS1 Official Character. Ratchet & Clank from the PS2. On the PS3 was kind of different giving Drake from Uncharted the position of the mascot. And now back to the roots Knack is the PS4 mascot.

btw. I would love a GIANT Knack Figurine! :D

WOOHOO! Knack was our first purchase when the ps4 came out. My 5 year old even took a medal in the SXSW cosplay competition for her ROBO-KNACK. (Her sister took one for Sackboy/girl).
When I saw KNACK on the PS experience commercial, My daughters said “Daddy, you gotta go!” I had already bought my tickets. I will be driving out from Albuquerque to see you Knack, and hopefully get an autograph :)

@34 yea i get what you are saying, my 23 months old baby gets excited everytime he watch me play Knack, he even grabs the ds4 controller out of my hands, i have been looking everywhere for knack toodler clothes but nothing, not even a hat or mittens :( too bad i think sony should sell playstation kids clothes.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones, I got the plat for “knack” two weeks after I started playing it became my first PS4 platinum. I told that to Mr. Cerney at E3 and he was surprised and said he never meant to make it that hard. Knack is a great game I just wish for a more “catchy” Soundtrack. The music for it was a little solemn looking forward to and hoping for a sequal. See you in Vegas!

Happy early Birthday to Knack – can’t wait to see who wins the statues.

Even though I think the game is good and has a interesting story, I do not agree with the diamond drops or the inability to chapter select and find hidden chest. The idea of having to play numerous playthroughs just at a chance to find a diamond doesn’t make the game more enjoyable but in my opinion takes away from it. I think a nice alternative would of been able to take all the additional gems I collected and possibly create a diamond.

This was my first PS4 platinum. Great game, it’s a shame people didn’t give it a chance. Reviewers are full of it. I swear they played on easy to hit deadlines, because the game is not awful at all.

Can someone please patch the “Crystal Relic Master” trophy I unlocked all knacks forms and it still hasn’t unlocked and I seriously do not want to start all over for this trophy. Diamonds were a nightmare to unlock.
