PS Plus: Preview December’s Free Game Lineup

The weather is getting colder, which means two things: 1) It’s time for delicious food and 2) it’s time to hibernate with videogames. We’re here to help keep you gaming this winter with December’s free PlayStation Plus titles.

You can keep warm but stay social with Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition, a fighting game that lets you finally figure out which DC heroes & villains would win in a fight, and Secret Ponchos, a wild west arcade-style duel where you’ll face off against friends or team up to take down other players.

Catch up on the Hitman series with Hitman HD Trilogy, which includes Hitman 2: Silent Assassins, Contracts and Blood Money, and experience the bizarre yet beloved Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut.

PS Vita owners get two Space Invaders-inspired games this month: Final Horizon and Titan Attacks. Fight off waves of space robots (they have spider tanks, gross) in tower defense title Final Horizon, or grab Titan Attacks!, which focuses on arcade-style gameplay but features some interesting elements that kick gameplay up a notch.

All of these games will be free for Plus members starting December 2nd. If you want to see these titles in action, check out the video below.

  • Nice games…just a shame that Secret Ponchos is online-only…such a waste of potential, also shame that you’re giving a PS3 game for the PS4.Anyway you guys are giving Hitman Trilogy for free, wow thats pretty cool….I want that in disc though so it ain’t for me.Still a nice month though…will try out the other 3 games. Thanks Sony.

  • This games are free !! if you don’t like it !! Get a job! ! Buy your own games and stop crying. ..

  • @104
I have a job, and maybe if you had one too, you might understand.

But you don’t, so stop crying about it.

  • BTW
Which digital games did YOU buy this week?

    None, oh, thought not.

  • Great great great lineup next month. I am absolutely looking forward to it.

    @Rezolution77
Chill out dude. it’s not the end of the world. Just go to your happy place. you don’t need to complain every week. I am worried that you are just hurting yourself in the end. peace

  • @107
I really don’t care what you think.

Why not mind your own business instead.

  • Far cry 4 for my ps4 ..and a new ps3 bundle with the new Lego batman ; ) ..check my profile over 4000 trophy and counting and yes I’m crying. …

  • I love you.
Peace be with you my friend

  • Oh, man, I’ve been on the fence with the Hitman Trilogy and Deadly Premonition several times. This is awesome! This more than makes up for the fact that Injustice is probably the worst game I’ve played on the PS4. (Hooray! All the begging for the worst “AAA” games finally paid off! Sigh.)

But Secret Ponchos and the PS3 games are great additions. Very excited.

  • Why do you think posting every week, when sales and Plus incentives are pathetic that complaining is such a grievous error?
I have to sit and watch kids all day, what does it hurt, while watching them play games?

Like I care, what a bunch of sales representatives, kids, and academically challenged anonymous viewers have to say.

I am here evey week, and will continue to be, untill Sony is through.

    So give it a rest.

  • Well, December seems to be a marked improvement of this month’s line up.

I had Injustice on the PS3 so a PS4 version isn’t of any consequence, but it is nice to finally see a full-fledged retail game on PS4. Secret Ponchos… eh, maybe, but it’s not a priority.

Hitman Trilogy is a superb addition because it’s not just one, but three games the complement when Absolution was on the IGC around this time last year… too bad, I’ve already owned it since it first came out. And Deadly Premonition seems like it might be good, I haven’t played it yet.. but I just got it on sale a month or two ago, maybe even less. Seems like a close turnaround to have a game that was just on a sale go free.

I don’t have a Vita so Final Horizon does nothing for me, though Titan Attacks being a cross-buy I’ll add to the ever-growing backlog of indie titles. I enjoy indie games, for the most part, but after a while one can suffer burnout.

All in all, to me, it’s a solid month. It’s just a shame I already own everything that would have been of interest to me if I hadn’t. I’m hoping for some killer Black Friday/Flash Sale titles and content this weekend.

  • PS Plus is giving repeated games now? Hitman Absolution came out in August 2013.

  • @110
Your rentals from Gamefly aren’t digital bro. Trophy hunters are definately renters, it’s obvious.

  • Bah, forget it. I tought tha Absolution was coming either.
So, i’m fine now. Great games!

  • @115, Wayne
    love my Vita.

That is if it isn’t discontinued by lack of games, not already on IOS.

  • So excited for Hitman: HD Trilogy. As the only games on here I’m interested in (already played Injustice), the fact that it’s three games is a great deal. This is great after the past few lackluster months.

  • I can vouch for Deadly Preminitions – nice 3D effects as well if you don’t let your charecter change suits so flies swarm around him. Kind of a murder mystery and half 3rd person shooter. A different game for sure. Sort of a survival horror game. Easy platinium trophy as well if you are a hunter. The graphics are a bit dated but the developers did get the 3D to work better than other 3D games I have played.

  • Nice selection this month

  • I don’t know why everytime I come here someone has to complain about something. When you got in with playstation you knew what they were trying to push with this generation ( indies, social features, ps plus etc). STOP WHINING!

  • I’m excited for Secret Ponchos! My only concern is that since it is launching with 5 outlaws and 4 maps, there is going to end up being a ton of paid DLC for this “free” game.

  • Kristine I’m from Brazil AND i love you!!!!!!

  • I didn’t think I was putting down anything awful here and yet my comment seem to disappear.
    Wow just wow.

  • Great month for me. I loved Injustice when I rented it, and look forward to diving back in to the single player challenges. I’ve been excited for Secret Ponchos since the PS4 was announced. I’m happy to give Titan Attacks a try. And Final Horizon sounds interesting. Good month for me.

  • Please reconsider the Vita offerings and throw in Injustice for PSV as well. This is the worst month for Vita in quite awhile and not a good way to kick off the holiday season. Guess I’ll just continue to play BoI Rebirth until January.

  • Secret Ponchos is dope. I’ve been playing the PC version for a bit.

  • Wow good games on both PS4 and PS3! Still poor selection on Vita though. Well will you guys show the Vita some love?! :(

  • After getting slapped by the FTC for false Vita advertising, you should really think about releasing Driveclub PS Plus Edition.

  • This is awesome! As an owner of Injustice for PS3 who missed out on the DLC, this is pretty sweet. Glad to receive the Hitman Triology as well, considering PS Plus subscribers were welcomed with Absolution earlier in the service. Keep it up Sony!

  • Deadly Premonition a GEM in PS3 Library! Every1 must give it a shot.

  • WHERE IS HELLDIVERS SONY?! game was suppose to be out LAST December!

  • Hey Kristine,

    Very nice line up.

Oh, Final Horizon is PS4 and PS Vita. So PS4 owners will be getting 4 games for free next month.

    Cheers!!!

    Rob aka Graf

  • Important question so please answer, do you know if progress made on Injustice on PS3 transfers to PS4? Like would we be the same level, keep our stats and stuff?

  • What is this? I will tell what this is…this is the worst Christmas gift to all PSVita owners… Since I only own the vita I am very disappointed with this lineup… I thought I would see a game worth at least 20$-30$…. Its freaking Christmas Sony… Why are you guys so mean

  • Man, this is getting really annoying. Every friggin month I hope for something good, but it usually ends up being some game I already own, or something I have no interest in. How about some good rpg’s or something? We hardly ever get any of those. I’m seriously considering cancelling my PS+ subscription if the selection doesn’t start getting a little more variety. I don’t pay $50 a year for nothing.

  • I like the PS4 games this month but I am not sure what is going on with the PS3 games since July I haven’t downloaded anything since I haven’t seen any games of interest. What happened to games like

    Tomb raider
    Remember me
    Dmc
    Bioshock Infinite
    Payday 2

Those are the types I want not hd remasters.

  • The PS Plus free games seems to going downhill a lot since it moved to the monthly lineup. The only thing I have to look forward to now are the discounts.

  • I’m not really thrilled about this months lineup but I am not complaining at either. I’ll probably try a few of the games regardless & may end up liking them. Last year I got 2 years of PS+ for $60 & already saved a few hundred dollars this year alone from the discounts & freebies I would have bought so whatever. Still I am looking forward to all the holiday sales as usual!

  • Damn. I was really hoping we were getting Killzone like Japan is getting.

  • Meh, nothing for me this month. I’ve never really enjoyed the Hitman series very much, and Deadly Premonitions looks downright awful. They’ll probably both go into the large downloaded-but-never-played pile.

  • Great lineup this month. These are the type of games that are perfect for PS Plus.

  • injustice free on ps4 for ps plus? yes please~

  • crap :(….. its an amazing month….but i had fair amount of hope that injustice had a special cross buy like sly copper :(

  • Tomorrow is my birthday and im super excited for Hitman and Deadly Premonition! Thanks for the fantastic news!!!

  • Awful Vita lineup, to call it something. It’s really sad how Vita is slowly dying, even games like Telltale’s Game of Thrones and Tales of Borderlands are coming to every platform, iphone included, except VIta, Android and Iphone got Valiant Hearts recently, but we get nothing, really sad, now we only get indie titles, and not even good ones, indie games like This war of mine or Never alone would fit greatly on Vita, but we get low budget smartphone games instead like these two in the december lineup. I highly doubt the console will survive 2015 at this rate, and I won’t ever buy a Sony handheld ever again, Sony has dozens of first and second party studios, but they give us nothing. Don’t count with my money next time.

  • Got a question. I purchase Hitman Blood Money HD via discount, does that mean I’m blocked from getting HD Trilogy free?

  • Weak lineup again for ps3 .. But better than November !!! Wake up Sony !!!

  • Am happy about Deadly, kinda wish Injustice was on PS3, but meh, seems okay this month. Still need to get a bit non-indie color in these lineups. I’ve got a ton of shooting games to PS+ that I cant imagine I’ll ever get around to playing all of them.

  • Alright selection, but nothing for me personally. I just don’t like the Hitman series that much (the movie is pretty good though) and to be honest I really just have no idea what the other games are except Injustice. I tried the demo of that and wasn’t that impressed.

Vita games are same old indie stuff (which I why I don’t buy indies since they’ll just be on IGC in like 2-6 months) Not saying they are bad games it’s just getting so old it’s laughable.

I’m still glad my PS Plus ran out earlier this month is all :) Now I can use the $10 or so I saved on buying games I want instead (already bought them last week in the EA sale). Always up for a good Black Friday sale though. Steam and Microsoft are going hard so I expect some good deals Sony! Please :) There really isn’t any sales going on in retailers around me :(

  • @145 viceforce and others asking about owning part of the Hitman Trilogy
You should be able to purchase the Trilogy. The only issue, which seems to pop up with similar IGC titles, is that if you allow your Plus membership to lapse the license, to the game you own, might disappear. For some reason, sometimes a purchased game’s license gets messed up, but doesn’t get totally rewritten. It gets removed when Plus expires but, as it isn’t an IGC license, doesn’t get added back when Plus is renewed. If this Happens you may have to contact customer support, I’d recommend making a note of the original purchase date just in case.
I also wanted to mention; this last gen had plenty of people paying for online without the “free game” incentive. Many subscribers, however, didn’t subscribe for a full year at a time. I think that the IGC changed to the “one month full rotation,” in order to discourage short term subscriptions, now that PS4’s online requires subscribing. My point is that Playstation isn’t going to release crappy games because “You have to buy it anyway.”

  • Finally 3 out of 6 quality games for December. Kinda sucks the good ones are on PS3 but i’ll take em. Keep giving us lineups like this but maybe better support on PS4 and Vita.
