As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. This may have prevented your access to the network and its services over the last few days.

The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. We’ll continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and we’ll update this post once the problems subside.

i also havin trouble logging into psn also just says connection terminated being doing this since Thursday not happy xbox wad up and running after 2 days can anyone help have change mtu from 1500 to 1473 but still nothing try internet test and just says fail at PSN
I seem to be logged on? But I cant play Advanced Warfare online, anyone know if this is due to playstation or COD servers? Can someone from playstation please post some sort of update and an eta of when things might be back to normal?

I can get a connection to the PSN with my PS3, the App on my Smartphone and here. But I couldnt get a connection to thePSN with my PS4! Why?

Wow I have now changed my PSN account password and tried to sign back in but still no good. My children have had computers and games for Xmas and haven’t been able to use them. This is seriously not in the slightest bit acceptable by Sony as this is the second attack like this !!!!!!
Go on to your internet settings set it up manually and where it comes up MTU enter1473 and the rest of them automatic and sign in to your psn account ive just done it and im online it is only a temp fix

Not been a good month for Sony. After the first hack (last year I think) I would have thought security would have been more robust. After buying a ps4 and having to pay to go online, again I thought security would be even more robust. However for me, I belive that whoever is in charge of IT security for play station and even Sony, has a lot to answer for! Are we going to get compensated for the 3 days the network was downnor are paying subscribers going to get just another apology. Now i do recognize that this hacker group has ruined a lot of new psn users experience over the holiday season, however as I said at the start, it’s not been a good month for Sony/Psn and your IT director needs to be held to account!!! One unhappy customer who is losing faith in the Sony brand. You owe your customers 3 days worth of subscription fee!!!

i been playing since yesterday i also was getting the connection error and
this is what i did and it worked for me
turn your ps4 completely off ( don’t put it on rest mode) , unplug the power cable for about 20 seconds at the same time turn your router off unplug power for about 20 seconds ,after the 20 seconds plug power cord back in your router let it reboot , make sure it is connected to internet by using a laptop, desktop or etc… once you get internet connectivity start the PS4 make a new internet connection once you done test it and it will tell you that psn : falied don’t worry just go back to settings >psn>sing in >then type your email and password wait and should work , hope this helps

Whenever I try to sign in it says the connection to the server has been terminated.
Its partially back online because my ps vita works on psn but my ps4 doesnt.Why? this really needs to get fixed.

The PSN was not hacked. It was DDOS’d.
The difference, in laymans terms:
DDOS – A farmer lets his sheep out on the highway. There is a traffic jam.
Hack – Someone breaks into your car. Your wallet is stolen.

PS+ is 13.7 cents per day. FFXIV is 50 cents per day. So 63.7 cents per day is being lost on subs per person.
Now, multiply that by 1000. That is 63.70 USD per day per 1000 users. Things like this amount to more than you might think.
But the money isn’t the only issue. The other issue is available time. People might not have the chance to play online every day so they want to play online the days that they have available. Unfortunately, for some of us, those days normally are on days that online is often disabled (maintenance days, for example). Then we have these nice long breaks where we can actually play… Oh wait…
Thus the frustration levels of people. Imagine unboxing your new ps4 then finding out your PS+ is useless because… Nothing works. Those voucher codes? useless. Your new vita with that voucher code? useless.
My psn is still not comeing back on my ps4 but my m8 tried it on is ps4 an it lets him login an ideas y it aint wrking on mine ?
Oh I smell lawsuits coming. you think Sony would throw us some kind of bone seeing as we paid for a service and didn’t receive it on all days of days. And what really pissed me off was that Sony wouldn’t answer any phone calls it would just hang up on you. They couldn’t be emailed as they gave no address to write to. They shut off the lights left a note and didn’t answer the door I feel abandoned and angry at Sony more than anyone. People paid money for their systems and service.

My PS4 is constantly saying “you must be signed into playstation network and ea servers to access” Fifa 15. Any idea when this will be sorted? Really frustrating. I’m new to playstation and used to own an xbox and never had any of these problems before. Any help would be appreciated.

And yes, Amarise is correct in that DDoS attacks are not the same thing as hacker attacks. DDoS attacks are fairly simple to do if you have the resources to do so. Some attacks are done by simply pressing a button on a program.
A DDoS attack in and of itself does not mean that any information was taken.
Now, a hacker attack doesn’t necessarily mean that anything was taken either. It depends on attack. It could be anything from deleting stuff to adding stuff to taking stuff, just to give a few examples of what a hacker attack could entail.
A DDoS attack is more like driving a truck that hauls cars then releasing all those cars onto the road. Suddenly traffic is blocked off.
A Hacker attack is more like someone goes into a company building with a fake ID, then does stuff in the building. They could take documents, plant evidence, look for security flaws, etc.

Still getting the error message “connection to server terminated”. Is there an ETA you can give us for this? This is day 4 now without PSN. I’m beginning to feel that I wasted a lot of money on a 12 month PSN subscription. I understand that it may take a while… or at least I am trying to, but this is getting ridiculous.

I mean… Even Dragon Age Inquisition is unplayable OFFLINE. I don’t quite understand how that even makes sense, but the error message I get for that is that apparently the game might need an update… guess why I can’t do that.

Okay I’ve been without since Christmas. I’ve ran the checks and made sure that I could get to the Internet using the PS4 and I can. When I try to log in to the PSN I get this error “The Connection to the server has been lost (NW-31194-8)” Checked IP, Subnet, Gateway everything and nothing has worked. So you tell me Sony what is the issue!!!
