Although I wasn’t going to buy anything anyway, it is nice that you guys are extending it. Will there be a new round of sales tomorrow? Fingers crossed for the Wolf Among Us at $6.25 :)

I hope you don’t use the down time as an excuse to try using these poor sales for “THIS” weeks sales only cause let tell you if we didn’t get them the first time we are not going to get them this time too, most of these you can get cheaper for physical and most you can get in a buy one get one free deal.

Here’s hoping you have some better end of year sales tomorrow.

Any word on the reliability of the service? Since now for online play it is mandatory to have plus, we should at least expect that the service can handle higher peaks of traffic or at least counter mesures to guarantee the continuity of the service in general (not to speak of the long times without official information about the situation from Playstation in general).

We are gamers and we chose Playstation, please consider that when making decisions since these choices may change with such experiences…

These were never great sale prices to begin with. I’ll be extremely disappointed if these are going to be considered the sales for this week. After this outage you would expect more.

Next time anyone complains I hope they start a business. Then I want that business to do well and grow. Grow to a level that millions of people use their product. Then have something happen to said business that is out of their control. Deal with all the headaches of fixing the problem and the customers themselves. Then after all that come back here and say something. 3 days didn’t kill anybody.
Smart with extending the sales. This is just a part of the digital age. Things happen. Sony will grow and hopefully this will happen less.

I’m glad they’re extending the sale. I bought what I needed. Glad other people get to grab what they wanted.

I’ve been seeing comments about people complaining that games are being released and they aren’t finished.

Then I go to an Indie game that’s completely finished and people are complaining that there aren’t enough AAA titles and that they are tired of indie games…

Mixed signals everyone, mixed signals. Do you want more games (Indie), more AAA games now, or do you want fully fleshed out AAA games eventually that work perfectly functionally? Can’t have all of those at once it’s impossible.

I’m an engineer for a well sized internet company. I know that a ddos can put you down, but it doesn’t have to be like what happened to playstation here. Well distributed services can work seamlessly without having to contact damaged services on the same architecture.
Thats what I’m talking when I say “counter mesures”.
If your login server is being ddos’d, shut it, at the higher layer. But provide a way for internal services to keep validating all operations that are already done.
Bungies servers that could not auth users because they use the same api as the regular services is craziness, but i’m only guessing here.

Again, as you said, ddos are a killer, but there are ways to handle this kind of attack without breaking an entire network of services.

Plus subscribers are customers of a service that should work 24/7. if this service isn’t being provided, there should be a compensation for the time it wasn’t available… Simple as business.

Maybe you should send a bill to the stupid hackers. Charge them the $50 you paid for a year of PS Plus.

I didn’t get anything on these sales, and still won’t get anything on this time extension.

I hope we see a new sale tomorrow, because the holiday sales and this flash sale are terrible.

How about we see another PS Plus discount like last year? Or a DeathSpank Trilogy sale?

+ DelCtrlnoAlt on December 29th, 2014 at 9:17 pm said:

Agree with steeler192, those who have wanted would have gotten them.

Unless there’s a great price off, else flash sales only entice people without PS+, only if there’s a further discount for PS+ subscribers.

Even amazon sells physical copies at just few bucks more with free shipping and a physical product you can pass around for some of the games.

+ BlueBl1zzard on December 29th, 2014 at 9:32 pm said:

Thanks for extending the sale. It seems some people forgot that quite a few people received new Playstation consoles for Christmas and may not have had the chance to check out these sales yet…

@MakaiOokami Yeah, there’s clearly no pleasing everyone (especially on here). And on top of that, people need to realize that the AAA games they want so badly take time to make (not saying that indie games do not), and it would be unrealistic to expect AAA games to be released as often as indie games. Not too mention that it’s very unlikely that the numerous indie releases even affect a AAA title’s development time….

+ KrisButtar on December 29th, 2014 at 9:43 pm said:

How I search for sales, I look down the PS+ sales price column until I see a price $15 or lower, look over to see the title of the game and decide from there if I should purchase or not. I don’t even look at the others because whatever titles they are… you can get them cheaper at retail.

This years sales having been disappointing/underwhelming everywhere not just on PSN though. Thanks for your continuous hard work and happy new year

Don’t you think your priority is to fix the Four Games One Pick issue. Thousands of gamers couldn’t get their Four Games One Pick code to work as of this moment. Most of the gamers are new to the PS4 family and until now they haven’t had any games to play for at least 4 days.
To be honest, I don’t feel comfortable and confident to buy any of these sales games above, what if there is network issue again. Eventually, people will go back to Xbox because of the lack of Customer Service and how you handle this network issue.

All of these people so outraged by these sales and the DDOS attack are hilarious. I almost wish Sony would refund every PS+ member $0.41 for the 3 days the services was spoty, just for the LOL’s.

As for the sales, I am pleased. I picked up 21 and 22 Jump Street, plus a couple of games over the holiday sale. A couple of new Playstation 4 owners I know decided to pick up Battlefield 4 at $12.

I will always by from PSN, as it is more convienent both in deliverabilty and playability. My hope is that the money is going towards securing more games, movies, and TV series, along with building and improving new services, like PS+, PS Now, and PS Vue.

If your going to serve the US and also Canada, can you please denote the Canadian prices for things. Some items are the American price here and some are more, and it’s usually on the more premium titles. Because they feel they can, ie dragon age, fifa etc etc.

The sales are not all that great when they are not even better than what is offered at every major Canadian retailer for the disc. Gawd I can buy some of these games at Loblaws of all places for a better deal, COD Advanced Warfighter for $40, and Shadow of Mordor for $35, that is Canadian retail. WTH?!?! among others, the digital prices are absurd.

Why would I buy this digitally, the outage at the most key time of the year only exacerbates this.

While there are some occasional deals mired in the spew of non deals I find it hard to get excited for 6.80 mgs demo ops. etc

Please improve the service level on offer, and compensate me for my lost plus days, that would be the minimum gesture.

Honesty is the best policy is what my mother always says. So why lie to me about why the sale(s) were extended. We all know it was due to the recent hacker crap so why lie to us. This is what upsets so many die hard Sony fans like myself. Sony appears dislike talking to us honestly upfront straight.

It tooks years to finally find out why we can’t change our psn names. We still never get straight answers to simple blog posts. We haven’t even been told why digital content pricing is out of whack on psn.

Just be honest with us we love you guys like family so don’t hide the truth from us it makes us feel unappreciated.

I personally would love to see a full encore week rather than just an extension, but this is Sony.

People still can’t connect though the amount of people that can’t connect is fewer now.

Honestly though, it would be nice if Sony started making it so that when an entire day (24 hours) is down service, that day doesn’t count against your service time.

In all honesty though, the sales from Sony this year were just lacking compared to many other gaming companies. Some of which have had very tempting sales.

Let me put it this way. Earlier, I went to a store. An item was rung up for the wrong price. They not only refunded the price difference, but refunded the entire price. In other words, a freebie as compensation for the mistake.

Another store, an item wasn’t what was promised. They made a full refund and even offered a discount on a similar item.

Another store, an item didn’t include everything promised. The store took a bit of time, but they delivered what was promised within a week and not just to me, but to multiple people.

Sony… An item didn’t deliver on the promises in the item description and frankly, didn’t work 9 times out of 10 and only for a few minutes in that 1 time out of 10. I was told to wait… Then they apparently lost my support call. And of course, for over 2 months, the item didn’t get better, didn’t deliver on the promises. They never gave me a refund in the end for a 120 USD game. I would’ve taken a partial refund as store credit.

All of these happened in the past 14 months the first example happening just a few hours ago. Should Sony have refunded me? They should have. It was false advertisement. But apparently false advertisement only applies to physical items.

This year, in comparison to past years I’ve spent a much lower percentage of my money on Sony items and a lot more of it on competing markets.

This is a huge change compared to the past where I’d preorder PS games, where I’d buy multiple Sony products just for myself (I’ve bought the PSX, PS2 x2, PS3 x2, PS3 Slim, PS4, PSP x3 (different models), PSP Go, PSP Vita, PS TV. Yet, I didn’t buy the PSP Vita new model. I’m not even looking for news on a PS4 slim.

In other words, because of how I’ve been treated-with disrespect, this year, the money that would’ve gone to buying more PS4s, more PSP Vitas (and normally, I’d buy each of my friends one along with games/PS Cards).

This year… Only one friend is getting a PS TV (when normally I’d have bought a Vita). The others are getting competing products instead.

Some people have gotten good customer support, great for them. But if Sony wants to keep their customer base happy, they should consider actually giving out some compensation even if only as a show of good will.

So you can extend your sales.

But how about extending our Plus subscriptions??!!??

It’s the very bloody least you can do!!!

You obviously don’t get it.

It isn’t the attacks or the downtime that I’m angry at. It is how Sony acts when things go wrong.

They could have said: Oh, since this game isn’t working, we’ll refund you partially as store credit. They didn’t.

They could have been truthful and stated that the PSN was still having issues and that not everyone would be able to connect. They didn’t.

They could have gone: Hey, we’ve been down for a few days (this isn’t the first time this year), we’ll at least extend your PS+ by the full days that we were down. They haven’t-they may in the future, but they haven’t.

They could have kept their communication lines open so that the community would know what was going on. They didn’t.

Playstation Plus: Paying to play Offline.
These old crap sales better not take the place of a new set of sales.

That’s nice but what about Europe (Germany)?
I would like to buy Destiny but I definitely will not pay 70€ for that. 45€ like during the sales is acceptable.

And no I don’t want to do the thing with mixing US account with EU account.

Ah yes and a compensation for the lost PSN plus membership would be the least because you want money to keep the servers alive.

Some of these prices are pretty good, but after spending four days completely content-locked out of the 39 games I’ve bought off the PSN (as well as simple features like Netflix) I’m done buying digital games off the PSN.

It’s not just this attack, every time there’s a PSN maintenance I can’t access any digital content on my PS4 due to license verification issues. It’s just as bad as that XBOX ONE “always online” feature that soured so many folks to said system.

@ ariaandkia i don’t even see a PS PLus icon by your name. How do we know you are even a subscriber. Besides how many freebie PS Plus games could you STILL play despite the DDOS attacks?

@46 Drew_croft you get great games, for free, like Elysian Tale, and you also get about 350 days uptime per year (my estimate, I play FFXIV fairly regularly and I have very few down days. Maybe a maintenence or 2 a month +DDOS or random things)

The one thing you 2 completely haven’t even thought of, is that if Sony does give you free stuff JUST because for a whole 3,4,5 days the network was being maliciously attacked by attention seeking sociopaths… That just gives people MORE reason to DDOS the servers again. You’ll give the sociopaths more attention, and where does it end?

Microsoft isn’t immune to the DDOS it just doesn’t affect them as much because ALL of their network gaming is behind paywalls where as Sony has 100 million devices with millions of people spamming refresh over and over again. Microsoft has 8-10 million that can log in and use online features at one time. That’s it because it’s all behind the $60 dollar paywall. Sony has more Vitas out there than that.
