Unmechanical: Extended Hits PS4, PS3 on February 10th

Hey! This is Jakub from Grip Games. We are ready to release our upcoming adventure-puzzle game Unmechanical: Extended, which we have been working on with our colleagues from Talawa Games and Teotl Studios, for PS3 and PS4.

Unmechanical: Extended will launch on February 10th and will cost you only $9.99. The game will also offer cross-buy, so if you buy it once, you’ll be able to download it on both PS3 and PS4. If that’s not enough, we’ll be offering a short initial 20% discount for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

If you have missed our initial announcement of Unmechanical: Extended, you should know that it’s an adventure game with a lot of puzzles. You will play as a little robot that has been kidnapped into a strange underground complex and has to find his way out. On your journey, you will discover many secrets of that place, you’ll meet several mysterious characters and you will solve puzzles. A lot of puzzles.

Unmechanical: Extended is all about the experience. You can discover the gorgeous non-linear levels at your own pace — whenever you encounter a new puzzle, it feels more like a natural problem to solve, using your wits, than a barrier that the game has thrown at you. Many of the puzzles will require some out-of-the-box thinking and the process of trying to find the solution is just as important as progressing the story.

Speaking of the story, this version of the game contains an exclusive second story mode, called “Extended,” where you will return to the Unmechanical complex once again to unravel even more mysteries and to save your friend.

If you want to know more about Unmechanical: Extended feel free to ask me here in the comments section. We’re looking forward to see how you like the game!

  • I like puzzles.

  • Looks interesting. When is it coming on Vita ? Will it be cross-buy with the Vita too ?
    Hope it does well.
    Have a nice day!

  • Awesome! Can we get it on Vita? Can’t wait to play!

  • Looks awesome! Art style is great. Some questions:
You say it’s an adventure game with a story. Will there be voice acting? Or just subs?
Will there be a platinum trophy?
How many hours approx to complete the game?
When is the vita version coming?
Will the vita version be cross buy with PS4 version? If yes I’ll get this day one. If not I’ll wait for the vita version.

    Thanks for your time.

    • – There is a story, but no voice acting, or text is present in the game. It is all communicated via situations, emotions, your own imagination.

      – Nope

      – That is hard to say, depending on how fast you can solve the puzzles and if you like to run through the game, or if you take your time to explore. There are two different story campaigns, each having two different endings, depending on your in-game actions. 15 hours is about right to see everything, I would say. Then there’s trophies for finding secrets and doing some cool stuff, which can add a few more hours.

      – We focus on the PS3 and PS4 versions. I would say the more people like these two versions, the quicker we’ll make the Vita version. Realistically, I would say summer.

      – Yes, Vita will be cross-buy. If you buy this now, you’ll get Vita for free when it is out.

  • Also wondering about a vita version.

  • Hate to be that guy, but I noticed the announcement trailer says Vita but there’s no mention of it in this post. Is it still coming at some point?

  • Hey Jakub,

This game looks really fun! I love the art style and music.

I wanted to ask if you guys would consider on making “Dynamic Themes” and “Avatar Pictures” for the PS4. Your game would look cool displayed on everyone’s PS4.

    Cheers!!!

  • Been wanting to play this ever since Giantbomb did a Quick Look of it. Looks really interesting!

  • Looks good.

  • Looks great. It looks like 2015 will be the year of adventure games on PlayStation! :)

Since the title of the YouTube video mentions Vita, I guess that’s coming at a later date?

  • No thanks, looks like a level made in LBP by an user.

  • Looks interesting, but I’m kinda tired of the whole side-scrolling thing that’s taking over these days. Not saying I don’t like it, I’ll probably just pick it up later.

  • Hey Jakub,

It would be awesome if you guys do look at making “Dynamic Themes” and “Avatar Pictures” because it would allow a little extra revenue for your studio (unless you release Dynamic Themes for free which would be great) and allow your customers who love this game to display it on their PS4 for all their friends and family to see.

Also “Avatar Pictures” for gamers to display on their profile is basically free advertising for your studio.

    Cheers!!!

  • are the audio assets on PS4 24-bit and/or FLAC?

  • I’ve played the original release of this and it was a lot of fun. It’s got a cool art style and is just overall a good experience. I know puzzlers aren’t for everyone, but if you’re on the fence, this is definitely worth it for $9.99.

  • Absolutely love this. I hope it does great!!

  • This looks great. I would love a Vita version.

  • That’s great that a Vita version is still a possibility! The Vita still needs all the love & attention it can get. I could have sworn I read somewhere not that long ago that the Vita version was all-together canceled, for good? So if buying the PS4 version (which is cross-buy…YAY!!) will help with the development and release of the Vita version at a later date, then buying this game is a no-brainer for me… although I was planning on getting it anyways:) I can’t wait to experience this game for the first time on the PS4 in all of its beautifully artistic HD glory!! Everything I’ve ever read about the original was nothing but positive praise for being one of the best puzzlers ever!

  • My 6 yr old son and I are really enjoying some of the Co-Op available on the PS4. Chariot, Knack, Rayman Legends and recently Little Big Planet 3. Will this have any co-op available as that will seal the deal for me. I have so many other games to play on my own (Far Cry 4, Mordor and Destiny taking the most time) that I am really seeking games to play with him.

    Thanks!

P.S. Looks amazing and I would also say make a cool dynamic theme.

  • Looks great! I like the price point and cross buy option. I will be buying this day 1.
